There has to be something wrong with me. I use several cartos and only smoked 1 pack of ultra light shorts a day. I am vaping 3 cartos a day at 11 mg and sometimes more. Is my math off or is it a spill. I only paid 35 dollars a carton on analogs. It is costing me at least 1/3 more in price. Now I am not complaining. I am just wondering if anyone else has run into this? I love being free of the nastiness of analogs. Hope I got the terms correct.

Lies, lies, lies. SafeCig, V2 all the prefilled ones lie. I smoked half a pack a day and vaped 3-4 cartos in its place. I even counted the number of puffs and asked them why I wasn't getting their advertised quantity. Those prefilled cartos cost me at least 3x as much as cigarettes.

Now, if you buy your own juice, pay about 20 cents per ml and vape 5 mls a day, it's only $1. Add some hardware costs amortized over the months and, yes, you can save money from analogs vaping. I'm cutting my juice down to 11 cents per ml buying bulk and very little hardware replenishment. It takes some investigating.

You may also be vaping more than you smoked starting out. Hopefully, when your analog urges eventually subside, you can cut vaping down too...and save even more money! :)

Edit: oh yeah, you might save a few years of life too.

I am also trying to go down on nicotine. Got some 6 mg in the other day and was climbing the walls. I can switch back and forth between the 11 and 6 and be OK.

Yea, I wouldn't worry so much about cutting down on the nic level just yet...get a good PV, learn how to use it, get comfortable with it and then maybe try stepping your way down...just my opinion.

cleaning cartos
remove mouthpiece with thumbtack etc. Take out the small rubber o ring thingy
Boil water on stove in a small pot. Throw all empty cartos into boiling water. Boil 10-15 minutes. Dump into a strainer rinse with cold water. Put your pot back on stove and boil again. Rinse again. Blow out the cartos.
Drying
you can sit them mouthpiece down on a papertowel for a few days or i found that they fit really nicely in the little slots in my room fan i usually leave overnight. If you fill them before they are completely dry you will get very little vapor from them.
Filling
If you have a syringe thats the way to go if not heres another way

Drip liquid around the outer edge of carto until it looks full. Grab it by the mouth end and shake it like a thermometer. repeat until after shaken the filling looks full. I usually add a few drops to my carto throughout the day.

those are kindof pricey.. you might try http://www.litecigusa.net/Default.asp for carts if you can figure out which threading the ecig you have has.

looks like its an kr808d1 ecig those are really good for starting. the batteries seem to last much longer then the joye 510 that i started with

http://www.litecigusa.net/kr808d_1_cartomizer_p/premkrblankcart.htm these are pretty good

I have the kgo kit http://hoosierecigsupply.com/KGO-kit-1100mAh-by-SLB-HEC001.htm and use the clear dual coil cartomizers in 1.5ohm from same vendor

Tricia - you are using the PigCig?

You can use ANY KR808D-1 cartos (prefilled or blank) and refill them yourself. You should be able to get 4-7 days use out of a carto if you use thin clear juices. You have a nice sealed manual battery on the PigCig so it is safe to refill cartos. You just need better cartos.

To get good use out of each carto I use only juices with 20% VG or less - i.e. thin juices. And I try to stay away from ones that drop a lot of carto-clogging flavoring sediment into the stuffing.

Good carto blanks are the ones at Vapor4Life and the ones sold by/for SmokelessImage Volt and Bloogplanet Maxxfusion. They have a soft cap and a defined center air channel. Their prefills can also be kept damp with eliquid to get at least several days use out of each. I can usually get a week's use out of a Vapor4Life WOW carto with the juices I use. I also use a couple of Vapor4Life WOW juices - some are overflavored so I suggest try sample carto packs but I like their WOWbacco (cocoa tobacco, and WOWBoy is the same with a bit of mint added) and WOW Vanilla (a very sweet marshmalowly/cottoncandy-like vanilla)

----
How I fill Vapor4Life KR8 cartos and Boge 510 cartos

Pop out the soft cap with an unbent paperclip in the mouth hole, very careful not to catch stuffing or the wire loop.
Shake and open the eliquid
Hold a bit of tissue on the threaded end hole, tilt the carto, and add 18 drops per ml of capacity into the stuffing (Boges and most KR8 cartos are about 1ml).
Wait 15 seconds or so then see how many more drops the carto stuffing will soak in easily.
Clean up the threaded end, tilt open end down into tissue, puff into threaded end to clear air channel (Boges and the KR8 cartos I use have a defined center air channel and I want to see light through that)
Sop up any loose juice above the stuffing
Cap and let it settle - I lay it on different sides for 15-20 minutes to make sure every bit of stuffing gets damp so I won't singe the carto. if you use thicker juice than me (I use 20% Vg or less) then you may need to wait much longer.

While vaping, if the vapor gets a bit light or a bit dry or the carto is getting hotter than normal, I take the carto off the battery and add eliquid. I sometimes use a plastic or delrin drip tip as a mouthpiece on Boge and KR8 cartos (not to drip into since the juice would head for the central air channel)

Try this Electronic Cigarette - Cartomizers - KR808D-1 Cartomizer

Remember to click "20% off" on top. It should be $6.99 for 5. Same blank cartos as you found.

Edit: lots of choices Tricia, but nothing wrong with buying it from whom you're comfortable with. I think shipping is pretty cheap at Liberty Flights, $2.99?

I was questioning this myself. My initial assumption was also 1 pack of analogs per carto.
The cartos I use are the Halo G6 (kr808d?)
I found that number to be significantly higher. It's 4 cartomizers per pack, give or take.

After I got my 30ml bottle of juice from Halo Ecigs, I noticed the bottle dropper had markings on it at .25ml, .5ml, .75ml, and 1ml.

Using the condom method to fill my Halo cartomizer I am filling the condom halfway with juice.
According to the dropper, a half full condom holds .25ml of juice.
Which means that I need to vape 4 cartomizers to get the full amount of nicotine. Assuming you really get the amount of nicotine listed on the label.
(Condom Method in a nutshell- use the condom without the nipple in it, and fill it half way with juice. Gently push the carto back into the condom with the tiny hole side going into the condom first. Press in slowly till the cartomizer is at the bottom of the condom. Press too fast or too hard and the juice comes out the top like Old Faithful.)

So this breaks out to 6mg nicotine per cartomizer assuming you are using a 24mg per ml juice.
Now I'm going through 2 and a half cartos per day and feeling good on it, but I had expected to need less than that.

So hopefully my experience will help you figure out how much you need. Actually, you should vape what your body tells you to vape, and then go from there. For me a 30ml bottle should last about 30 to 40 days assuming I vape 3 to 4 cartos per day.
Now I don't feel so bad about vaping more than one carto a day, and I hope you feel batter about it too.
Time to get back to my vape :)

Some of the great things about ECF-

No one makes fun of a newbie, ever.

Everyone here honestly wants to help- we've all been there. Most of us didn't know a thing about ecigs or anyone else that vaped. It's a whole new world for all of us.

No one tells to to search

No one tells you 'google is your friend'.

Good luck and any questions you have, ask away. There are probably people reading that haven't posted and they're wondering the same thing.

Nice post. No one really knows for a fact. I've read we get about 30% of the nic we vape. I've seen people mention lower and higher.
I never really worried about it at all. I just didn't want to smoke anymore so I vaped enough so that I wouldn't smoke or crave cigs.

Excellent description of ECF (and all the wonderful people that make up this forum). Every day I'm amazed that such a supportive, encouraging forum exists on the web.

Welcome to ECF, Tricia! :)

Nicotine absorption from ecigs is guesstimated to be about 10%.

If you follow this you'll understand why the "1 carto = 1 pack" is a lie.

One cigarette can be anywhere around 10mg per stick. You absorb about 10% of that, which is why the packets say each cigarette is about 1mg of nicotine.

So one cigarette is about 1mg of nicotine. On the "high" nicotine content eliquid, we have 24mg solutions of nicotine. There is roughly 20 drops per ml, and 24mg per ml. 24/20 = 1.2mg per drop (extremely roughly).

So per drop which can be anywhere around 5 - 10 puffs you get 1.2mg nicotine. That's how much you get from a cigarette AFTER the 10% absorption drop. Guess what, 10% drop again from absorption from ecigs. You are getting, roughly 100 times less nicotine than from a cigarette per drop with "high" nicotine content liquid.

Absorption rates are only estimates, as everyone is going to absorb at different rates and there is as of yet no conclusive, set, absorption rate for ecigs like there is for cigarettes. However, one cartomiser = one pack is clearly a blatant lie as the starting values per drop of liquid is that of the post aborption 90% loss of cigarettes.

With the KR808D-1 threaded slim models - if you have automatic batteries you have to be extremely careful to make sure the carto is not going to leak on the end of the battery. You can damage or kill auto batteries that way. When filling or adding juice to a carto for auto batteries, obviously take the carto off the battery. I hold tissue on the threaded end as I described and during the cleanup I described (page 3 of this thread), actually poke a soft bit of tissue in the open end to touch the stuffing THEN tilt that open end down and puff into the threaded end. It will not be the most filled carto but it will be unlikely to leak.

The Boge 2.7 ohm KR808D-1 cartomizer should be decent. I tried the 3.0 and they were not warm enough. I am used to the Vapor4Life WOW cartos which I think are around 2.5ohm. And pick up a plastic or delrin 510/901/KR808D-1 drip tip - you can use it as a mouthpiece if a carto is too hot for your lips. I like to use them all the time on my 2 main cartomizers. I never drip into them though - all the cartos I use have a central air channel and the juice would aim for that.
