It's distinctly possible. I have been to many of them and spoken to a bunch of vapers as well, but there's a chance that there have been some new openings that i have missed. Your link doesn't help much though, mostly smokeshops, cigar bars and even home depot you have linked to, and many not even in NYC.

Thank you for the link though.
Still doezens more than the 8 or 9 that you suggested.

I believe i said 10 or 12 and conceded it's a rough estimate and there may be more. You provided a link to a yelp search that didn't make your point, but if you say there are dozens more then fine. Curious, do you live in NYC ? Doesn't even matter actually, i'm really not interested in a back in forth with you over this. It's not that important.

I don't think vaping is as popular in the US as many believe; there's also dual users; perhaps they smoke when outside and vape indoors...

On my recent Prague holiday I saw vapers everywhere- mostly just eGos and cigalikes, though...

Czechs are pretty laid back - were so with smoking too. Gov't there is smart enough not overly interfere with people looking and finding less damaging ways then. So far, no bans / restrictions on vaping .
And very likely that they will take their sweet time turning that EU directive into national law...

But if vaping in the US is treated as smoking, wouldn't there still be vapers out and about among the smokers? I just haven't seen any in the wild out in the US. It took getting to Amsterdam last trip to see a vaper- at an airport...

The EU directive is meaningless in CR, even if adopted. It won't ever be enforced...

I think that's what this 'deeming regulation' by the FDA is all about.
IMO it boils do to an attempt by the FDA to hi-jack the whole vaping for their 'sponsors'.
Of course, BP and to some extent BT, will stop at almost nothing to protect their turf or keep the competition at bay:

( Gets on that subject at about 9:40 )

Attempts to lump vaping together with tabacco products have been sunk in some courts in the EU countries.
Vapers are more often seen in the wild now :) . Delayed reaction. The widespread misinformation campaign left its mark, sales took a plunge a while back.

And not seeing em does NOT mean they aren't there .

Case in point. Some German TV news mag was going to run a story about e-cigs. Title was to be something with 'toxic cocktail' ( referring to e-liquids ) .
Guess they underestimated the numbers of vapers :) . ****storm that broke over them had them change the tiltel in 'chemicals cocktail' even before it got aired.
Drew a lot of flak for the piece itself too.... cuz it apparently was anything but neutral.

Vaping scene is there. Box mods getting smaller yet more powerful. So look closer :) It's not a pack of cigarettes you might be looking at fro a distance :)

Vaping is very common where I live but a couple weeks ago I had a chance to test the extremes.

One extreme would be educated people. I don't see any of these types but my collage boy SIL tells me vaping is very common at school.

But I had to go to a way outback redneck wedding a month ago. Not the kind of rednecks that dress in camo just to play redneck. These are the kind that wear camo to a wedding because they were just already wearing camp. I wasn't sure what kind of mod to bring. I'm already looked at funny cause I quit drinking. Smoking rates there are high, 80%ish. I desired to go loud and proud. Biggest box mod and biggest cloud maker. I needn't have worried as there where lots of vapers. Younger males with mechs and RDA's, women with blinged out boxes and a bunch like me with regular box mods and tanks.

As it turned out the nearest town to that area, Camden, which is a tiny little town in the middle of nowhere has a vape shop. If Camden NY has a vape shop I dare say vaping is as mainstream as its ever gonna get.

In many ways right now in NY is the high water mark of vaping. Its fully rolled out. Fully accepted. Online and B&M options are available to every single person in the state. To smoke or vape is 100% in the hands of the individual assuming they are over 18 or 19 depending on county (Camden would be 18 but the county I was in may have been 19, given I haven't been 19 in..........awhile, I lose track).

This is Vermont, though...we're lucky to have running water and electricity.

When did that happen? You guys must've gotten it around the same time we did a few years ago up here in the mountains of VA. We still have sunshine brought in weekly though.

I am very rural, but one of my last trips to "the city", I walked out of a Best Buy and hit my vape. Another "older" gentleman heading towards the entry saw me and stopped to ask what mod I was using. Since I was headed in the direction of his pickup, he walked back to it and grabbed his so we could compare and shoot the bull a bit. It was actually nice to actually run into another vaper.

This happens to me occasionally. Don't see too many vapers around these parts, but when we do spot each other it's like running into a long lost friend and we talk for an hour about where are all the others vapers around here are.

From the number of shops that have opened up, I think there must be some vapers around here, but I almost never see them.

The vapers around here are hanging out at the vape shops. They don't wander too far from "home".

You get so caught up in the hobby of it, you forget it must still be totally foreign to so many people? Kinda sad.

Yep. It's turned into a hobby for me. I'm so into trying new juices and DIY'ing and messing with my gear! I don't mind the smokers that much, having been one myself, it's just the "chewers and dippers" that gross me out. I live in a farming dominated area and most of those folks chew and dip. I have to be careful walking through parking lots and before entering a business watching out for discarded chew and dip. YUCK :grr:

I don't see any of these types but my collage boy SIL tells me vaping is very common at school.

I teach at a university and I see quite a few vapers there. Most of them are the students and the majority of those are cloud chasers as that is the cool thing to do in the younger vaping circles. I'll be walking through campus with my iStick and Nautilus Mini and pass a group of cloud chasers. They give me a look sometimes but most chat me up and then try to convince me I need a mech mod.

I actually see more people vaping than I see smoking here where I live.
There are more vape shops than smoke shops here. Mainly caused because one of the first B&Ms in the country was here, so the industry is a little ahead of the curve in this aria.

Back a few years I used one of these when I wanted to look a little more socially acceptable.

Now it seems like you would stand out in a crowd if you weren't using a big ole honker mod.

In the uk vaping is very much alive and thriving. there's a not a day that goes by that i don't see a vaper around. I still duel fuel but have made big strides in cutting down. I wouldn't worry too much vaping isn't going anywhere.

    Woh you from Notts to?

That's where I live and I see tons of vapours out in town all the time.

So true Andria, while yes vaping may have some issues with some ejuice makers concoctions. The vast majority vapes are 100-1000 times less harmful than cigarettes. They run with the facts being shy about the actual harm of e cigs almost 0.. Thats the media, if it isn't bad, worse than, or death, they won't run the story. They look for the negative drama to publish stories per clicked on and read, paying that editor and writers bills. It's not them it is us.

On FB the positive stories will have 10 comments the negative stories will have thousands.. It's what the public wants because mostly TV babysat babies raised on springer etc..

Yep... One would think that the outrage of the ANTZ and the various gov'ts trying to squash a lifesaving technology would be a HUGE muckraking story... but I guess they're not inclined to bite the hand that feeds them so richly.

    We need the old-style muckrakers!

Where I work 4 of us are vaping, 12-14 are smokers out of 70 people in the building. I know of six of the smokers who tried vaping and gave up on it. I rarely see vaping anywhere else here in SE Michigan. I started with temp control 4 days ago and I'm spoiled already. When it is priced the same and is as easy as an N mini plus istick 20 the success rate should improve.

Anyone else have vape stand in their mall. Went to mall last week saw dozen smokers but also saw handful of people taking final hit before entering mall, or pulling out their vape when exiting, never noticed before I started vaping, now I'm seeing it all over.btw there are about 15-20 b&m shops within 15 miles from me, including one in each mall. No vaping inside though.
