I think the hardest thing is getting the kids to learn to understand when their cars are not "right" so it can be addressed before it gets worse.

Sounds like it might be time for a Chilton's manual, a tool set, and a "you're on your own for the next one" talk :p

they tend to go out gradually so its not to hard to miss if you don't pay attention to your car :p
When I bought new tires last year, the shop put the wrong balancing weights on my rims, causing the tires to go flat overnight. Had to take it back the next day to get the right ones put on.
I drive so much that the least lil shimmy will make me stop and see what's up.

Actually when I was driving the car I didn't notice the bad struts either. The suspension wasn't thunking and the car wasn't sitting low. The guys at the shop showed me where the struts were leaking fluid.

I was thinking more about the grinding noise coming from the brakes. Grinding means that they totally didn't notice the chirping noise coming from the low brake pad warning clip.

Well that sucks.

wrong balance on a tire is a VERY noticeable thing. A strut, not so much, until the shock absorber is so worn out you begin to bounce :p

dollars to pennies you "noticed" after they were well worn, and your car was bouncy over bumps...by this time, they have been going out for quite a while ;)

My struts on the expedition are shot, but it's been parked for almost two years now. I really need to sell it and get it outta my yard.
You notice the struts more when you're on a bumpy road, like SR22 to Borrego Springs lol. When they get low in fluid, they sound like dry springs squeaking lol.

That's because, by that point, you ARE riding on springs :p

oh, and dang my arm is sore this morning :grr: stupid shots. (not quite as bad as the anthrax shot series though)
Or typhoid?
Remember the shot that left ya with a dead arm for three days, and everybody just had to remind ya of it by slapping the shot spot o_O

At this point I'd take $1500 for it. It's a 1998 5.4 v8 4wheel drive, not jacked up or anything lol
Right on, pm me a couple pictures if you can and I'll see if I can't help you get it sold. Any major issues?

If I win the lottery, I'm gonna build a house and install my own lift in the garage. I could buy all these parts myself and do the repair work myself for half the price.

Anthrax shots are worse...specially the 3rd in the series....and yes, we were young jar heads...so we didn't just slap the arm ;)

Some people never learn that, the last time papa drove before I took over his car he ran into the side of the garage, never took it to the mechanic, so when I got in my little fender bender, the radiator and stuff got finished off and they scrapped it.
