I vape at all levels, 14w with my kangertech mini kit, 34w with my sx mini with zephreus tank and now want to test the waters at a higher temp and I can say I enjoy the flavor with this x cube 2 with the TFV4 tank with a quad coil which needed at least 70 w to run it. I'm looking at a Provari P3 now to vape under 10 w and complete the cycle.

Surely, as we are all vapers with a huge range of mod and juice preferences, can we not also accept that there might be preferences different than ours for coils and clouds? Differences from what we like just as valid to other people as our likes are to us?

But that really doesn't answer my question of WHY. Surely it seems to me that there is a point of diminishing return where wattage is conserned.
The "cloud" is controlled by ones lung capacity more than any other factor, so it seems to me that there must be some other reasons involved. .... and I'm missing the point.

Maybe low flavor 100% VG e liquids need very high power to have any flavor?

I like a HOT vape for one, but I dont really go above 60w, sometimes 70. To me an RDA with a .23 ohm coil vapes BETTER then a 1.8 ohm coil at 10w. What do you mean why man? People like it....pretty simple. Now yoh know, no need to ask anymore. Why are you always question peoples vape choices. Mooch said it best.

I vape anywhere between 12-70 watts, depending on the device. Also use some temp control mods, too, at varying settings. I vape for my personal enjoyment in a way that's respectful of others around me. Not what some random jackwagon on the internet thinks I should be satisfied with.

No idea why. The question never occurred to me. :)
I agree though that at some point increasing wattage does essentially nothing unless you have truly massive builds. And, you're right, lung capacity is a limiting factor. I guess then it's all about cloud density. Or bragging rights. Or, just because they can (as an experiment, technical exercise, way to win a comp, etc.).

Thank you Mooch (but I could only like it once the first time ... )

But that really doesn't answer my question of WHY. Surely it seems to me that there is a point of diminishing return where wattage is concerned.

Like with most things with high performance gear, there is always a point of diminishing returns. If you're a tootle puffer, go too low in power and you will not like your vape. If you're a cloud chaser, go too high in power and the same thing is true.

Performance is of course relative. If your idea of a high performance car is one that gets 50 MPG, then one that gets 45 MPG will seem lame.

If your idea of a high performance car starts at one that does the quarter mile at 14 seconds, then one that does it at 15 seconds is lame, never mind the diffrerence in fuel economy or anything else.

The "cloud" is controlled by ones lung capacity more than any other factor, so it seems to me that there must be some other reasons involved. .... and I'm missing the point.

There are very few actual cloud chasers on ECF. There is a big difference in the vape experience at say 10 watts compared to 30 watts and it's much more than just flavor and clouds. Not everyone wants to go there but for those that do it can be a rewarding experience. OTOH it's not good for everyone, YMMV as always :)

I just can't figure out WHY
What's so appealing about +100 watts?
It's easier to get good flavor a 7 watts then it is at 70. Surly fried throat isn't the goal.
Is it just the 'look at me" factor?

Inquiring minds really would like to know WHY.

TJ, why do people smoke Menthol? Why do they smoke regular flavored cigarettes? Why do the smoke Kings, 100's, 72's? Because thats what they want to do. Same with vaping. Be it a tootle puffers set up, or a mod wompers rig, or a squonkers box, or a cloud chasers gear, its all about the vaping experience and where do people want the experience to take them.
Different setups deliver a vast different vape. I took some ITC Monkey bread once and was vaping it in an ego set up and it was a good flavorful vape. Then I took that same juice and vaped it in a dripper and the flavor was unreal. The maple syrup flavor just melted in my mouth where as in an ego set up I didnt even know maple syrup was part of the flavor. Same thing with Mothers Milk. In a tootle puffers set up its a very good strawberry vape. Drip it at high watts and you can taste the shortcake in it and it becomes a wonderful vape. 100 watts dont hurt my throat at all. But it does unlock some of the flavor that is muted in low wattage vapes. Doesnt mean one is better than the other, it just means its a different experience from the vape.

not really... I use 100VG juices and my ADV is either 13-15W @ 1.2 ohms or 25-30W @ .7 ohms... plenty of flavor.. mediocre cloud density.... if I want to fog up the room, then I go for .25ohms @ 50W.. definate flavor drop and quite warm... a little too warm tho.

I understand all that, however 30 watts and 100 watts are worlds apart.
So I guess my question really is ... where does wattage become an exercise of the extreme with no redeeming value?
Or .. what is the redeeming value?

Using the new TFV4 quad coils requires higher wattage. It's not like I'm pushing 160 watts. 90-120 watts with a .15 ohm quad coil will taste really great, with lots of vapor. Plus I'm a huge cloud fanatic, just what I like! If you are using this tank with like 50 watts you really won't get anything but a flooded tank.

Thanks for all the information guys! I'm gonna purchase some VCT4's since it seems to be the most recommended and look into the others!

Nope, I'm a tootle puffer got past the 'watch this' phase many moons ago.

Ever think that it's more than just a "watch this" thing? I vape alone most of the time. Not with a bunch of people showing off. I looove getting a huge cloud with a massive punch of flavor. Feeling the density in my lungs, the continuous taste as I blow it out, not to mention the high ohm low watt quad coils on the TFV4 taste great!

Tootle puffing doesn't fit me. But hey, if I'm not feeling clouds, change it to the dual coil lower the wattage and there ya go. It's great to have the options. ECF circle jerk around tootle puffing has gotten unreal. It's not that crazy to use high wattage on such a low ohm build. If you are using 100 watts on a dual coil at .2 ohms yeah I can see it being weird.

120W from four coils is only 30W per coil. Not too extreme if you ask me.

Exactly, so it doesn't make sense that people are asking "whats the point in higher wattage vaping, when is enough, enough" and all that nonsense I see on these forums.

Like i said, I can understand 100 watts or more on a single or dual coil being a bit extreme, but sometimes higher wattage is needed.
