From what I read from the spec sheets on batteries, it seems like the 3.7v 18650 - 3000mah protected battery hi-drain would be the best for a mod. Especially for the power hungry LR's. Is there a better choice and anyone have a suggestion for an already built PV like the Silver Bullet, Omega, Protege, Precise, GG Giant, Bulli Extreme, The Chuck, etc....... Don't like the look of a box shaped mod, wetbox or the smaller mods that take the CR123A battery. I like the look of a cylindrical shape.
I've also read that some of the models above suffer from failed buttons due to the high current. Which has the better button?

The 'best batt for a mod' is going to get you 1000 different opinions :)

But yes, something 18500 or larger makes a lot of sense, in fact it's going to be about the smallest batt size that can handle all atty power draws without voltage drop.

If you want the 'safest' then you'd be looking at an AW IMR Li-Mn cell, or maybe the L-FePo4's (but they run lower voltage and need a special charger).

As to what mods take the AW cells, you'll have to ask around, maybe in the Modder's section is best. Super T's mods do but they are big bucks. The Shockwave will probably be the Bentley of mods when it comes out, it runs an AW IMR 'C' size cell, for 3 week's vaping in my case probably.

You like cylindrical? Then how about the MadVapes Roughstack, they don't come much more cylindrical than that...

:)
