2 days? I have 801 attys and 510 atty's that I have had for over 5 months and they work as good as the day I got them. Had the Protege for just a little over 2 days and the atty on it fries. :( It was doing so well to. ::sigh:: I am afriad to try my other 801 atty's on it for fear it'll fry them.

Also, is the battery housing suppose to get hot while vaping? Just before the atty went the whole housing got hot. Which I thought was rather weird.

I have had my protege since the first ones shipped. I have never had it burn up an atty. I have had issues with the quality control of attys in general. Attys are mass produced by the millions in China. Quality control is not a huge concern for them because they feel they are an almost disposable part. So I would imagine that the problem isnt the protege.......

WellI ordered two new atty's from PS just the other day, so hopefully they'll get here Tuesday. I dunno...but I am thinking maybe the switch might have stuck. I called my friend that has one and he said that you have to watch the switch because it isn't all that great and it might get stuck in the on position and that is why my whole unit got hot. He thinks it could have burned up the atty that way. I took the unit apart and really couldn't see anything wrong with the switch. I did take Johnny 5's tip and deburred th plastic housing with a razor knife.

Looks to me like they mill the the flats of the two contacts after the pieces are press fit into the plastic housing of the switch. I could be wrong. Shouldn't the contacts sit a wee bit above the rim of the plastic so the copper contact ring makes better contact with the two post of the metal contacts. Milling the post together with the plastic seems like it would make it harder to make contact with the metal post because they are flush with the plastic. What do I know though. So it makes me wonder how the button could stick and make good contact and keep the juice flowing to the atty and overheat it.

You probably just had a bad atty, give another one a try. Keep it wet, etc etc... The battery outputs a bit more at a full charge than a regular e-cig but not much.
