You're doing great, Mema! I hung onto my cigs for a month and am very surprised I didn't hang onto them for much, much longer.

We are all different. I was so bummed when I kept hearing stories of how others would pick up a pv and that was it for them, they just quit on the spot. I was wondering why not me, too. (Not bummed because they quit cigs, but bummed because I wasn't doing as well as they were and didn't know if I was ever gonna make it.)

You'll do it when you're ready and not before, I learned that as I went along. Just look how far you've come.

That's great progress - you'll know when you're ready! As suggested, make sure you have strong enough nicotine levels (I started out too low), and also think about getting one of the new batteries with the 13-second cutoff if you don't have one - you may find that a longer drag may be more satisfying.

Best of luck!

Thanks everyone! I have tried all the strengths and am having some problems with the higher nic. I get a headache with anything over 8mg along with a burning sensation in my mouth. I have all of the batteries: manual, autos, shorty, xlong. I do like the regular sized 10 sec cutoff one the best and of course the PT. Some days I can handle 18mg but on 'sinusy' days I have difficulty with that. I'm also sneezing a bit more than usual, but that could be normal allergies, I'd hate to think I'm allergic to PG. I found parlament to be the better of the tobacco flavors for me but it's not the IT flavor I guess. I started branching out to the sweeter flavors and like them but I find that I use them in addition to the anlogs.

Pugzley - that's exactly how I feel! why not me - arrgghh! At $98.00 a carton and the small fortune that I'm spending on vaping - yikes! the wallet is screaming.

Down to 12 analogs a day vs 1.5 - 2 packs but still can't ditch the analogs - ugh! I would like to congratulate everyone who has kicked the habit - I hope I can join the analog free club by the New Year.

I'm in almost the same boat. 4 months and still smoking 10-15 analogs a day, but that's down from 50-60. I don't think it's purely the nic level. Some flavoirs satisfy me more than others. I can't handle the higher levels either.

I'm so sensitive to the nic that a comfortable level seems to be 9-10 in most flavors. If I get my lab coat back on and get my fingers crossed in the right direction, then get a, (the), perfect mix I think I'll be in like flint.

Yeah, maybe increase the nicotine level a bit, then, honestly, get rid of the cigarettes. If they're not there, you can't smoke them, and you have to convince yourself that it's really worth the trip to the store to acquire them when you're having a nic fit knowing that you have a solution readily available to you... That's what I'm doing, and so far, I had one cigarette since getting my VK .. that was a day where I didn't have a spare carto with me and ran dry before leaving work. That's from a 1-1.5 pack a day habit of 15 years.

I can see where that would, (might), work except for one thing. I can't convince my wife to switch so they're here and I'm the one supporting her habit by going to the store 8-o

I had to get to the point where I could have a pack within reach and not care to grab one - they'll always be around, somewhere, and it's always been too easy for me to cave in. So right now there's a pack in my glove compartment, one in my office drawer, and another out in the garage. They've been sitting there for over 3 weeks, and I'm gonna let them sit there for a while more. I remember the last time I quit back in '96, for about a year, after I had been hospitalized for pneumonia. Then one day in '97 I went to a party, and somebody had Marlboro Mediums, which I had never seen before. So I borrowed one, and proceeded to buy about 4600 packs of them, give or take. I don't want to make that mistake again. This VK is a miracle in and of itself, but I need to do my part, too.

Some of the folks here have hit it on the head with congratulations and enjoy what you have accomplished!

Same from me, you've done well!!

If you've not done so already, spend some time looking through these sub-forums:
Nicotine - e-cigarette-forum.com • The place for electronic cigarette reviews, news and chat
Smokeless tobacco - e-cigarette-forum.com • The place for electronic cigarette reviews, news and chat

The Nicotine forum has threads regarding the addiction aspect of tobacco use, primarily the concepts that it's more than the nicotine in that smoke that hooks us. And vaping just doesn't cut it for some folk.

The Smokeless Tobacco forum has a wealth of information on dissolvable tobacco, snuff, and my fav, snus. What it is, where to buy, how to use and such.

Chain vaping 36mg with occasional 48mg, 3 to 4ml a day and I was having 1 or 2 smokes a week.

Using snus I still vape only 36mg but I use way less than 1ml a day and have not had a smoke for close to 2 months now.

HTH :D

Mema,

Give it time, sweetie! You're on the right track, and eventually, those analogs will be tasting nasty to you.

I am one of the fortunate ones who took her first vape and never smoked another cigarette.......
I attribute my success to a friend who allowed me to vape her 16 mg VK in an outdoor restaurant, and I was blown away....that was 16 mg.
When my husband and I left to go home, I lit a cigarette, took one drag, and had to get rid of it......it was crappy........no other word describes it.

I had 6 cigarettes left in my pack the day my first VK arrived, and kept them around for about a month, then knew at that point, I was free. Since then, I've paid it forward by allowing my other friend to vape one of mine for a day, and she too has not had a cigarette since. Another V4L family member.

So, keep at it, and you will find your sweet spot.......we're rooting for you!

Gracie

You guys having a hard time, seriously check out Older's post! I started vaping and quit analogs right away, but I was a 1/2 pack smoker and shallow inhaler. My husband never felt quite there - even at higher doses. But he also has mild attention and depression conditions that nicotine alone doesn't help with. He smoked 1 pack+ a day and was a deep inhaler. A little bit of snus (which you suck on - it's not chew of snuff) and he's good to go.

Please consider trying it!!

Hi kristin
So it sounds as though that did the trick for your husband?

I recall you asking about the snus w/ respect to your SO but I didn't catch any followup remarks. :)

Just wanted Older to know that I appreciate the additional information. I have explored those subfoums but not as in depth as I would have liked. I do intend to explore further.

One of the regulars here (A paramedic), had ponted out the additional effects of the CO in conjunction with the NIC and that's what prompted my additional research. But I also need to add that I'm not disappointed in my progress after smoking as much as I have for 48 years. I feel I have accomplished something I never though I could do on my own. I threw away all my previous PVs either because I got no satisfaction or they were just more trouble than they were worth. I had nearly amandoned the idea of a PV before finding Vapor 4 Life

At this stage I just need to find the right flavors and nic combination to make it work that extra 10%

Thanks for the encouragement and info! I was hoping that I would be able to vape and not think about the analogs at all, hoped to be one of the lucky ones, but you are all right - it is an accomplishment to get down to about 50% and I do need to be more patient!
I'll check out those forums Older, thanks for steering me - I tend to stay in this forum and not explore others. Thanks kristin for the endorsement of snus, I'll definitely check it out!
Thanks Gracie!
cos - that's quite an achievement! keep up the good work! sounds like you started analogs the same year I did (eeks!)
I'm like pianoguy in that I have to be able to beat this and be able to look at a pack of analogs and not be tempted. I want to be able to keep them around and have the power over them that they have over me right now. Some sick satisfaction in that LOL!
leeshor - We will win this war!!
