The new IMR 2000mAh battery is exactly the same size as the 1600mAh version. My personal preference though for my P+ 18650 is the AW P18650-2600. It is a protected cell, it hits harder and runs longer than anything else I've tried and that even includes AW's own 3100mAh battery. Yes, the IMR will hit a *little* harder at the very beginning of it's discharge cycle but, after just a little while, the 2600 will out-perform the IMR and continue to do it all day long. I found myself swapping out the IMR after 3 or 4 hours at the most. The IMR is a good choice for a regulated mod but the long flat discharge curve on the AW P18650-2600 is just what the doctor ordered for the Precise Plus 18650.

I would love to see a test of the 2000mah compared to the 1600mah done at 2.5 amps. Been looking for info on that cell for quite some time now, but nobody posted anything in terms of " it lasts 1.5h longer " or " woohoo , i can vape starting at 4.09v underload now on my P18+ instead of 4.03 with the 1600 one " :)

Here is one I did a couple of days ago at 2 Amps. I hope it helps.
The black trace is the new AW IMR18650-2000mAh and the red trace is the AW IMR18650-1600

Both of the batteries tested on that chart are the red AW brand IMR18650's. One is the 1600mAh and the other is the *new* 2000mAh version. In case anyone is wondering, I live in the Philippines and I just got the new AW IMR18650-2000's from AW. I may be one of the first dealers anywhere to have them since these are from very the first batch ever made and I am so close to the manufacturer. Not sure, but they may not have even reached the U.S. yet.

Are the new IMR 18650 batteries longer than the 1600 mAh ones? I have a PP 18650 coming and want to know if they fit.
If they do I will just have to order some up. Thanks

Heres the dimensions on the AW IMR 1600mah vs 2000mah. The new IMR 2000mah is about 1mm longer:

1600mah: 2.558
2000mah: 2.596

As far as load testing: In progress, i need to charge and discharge them about 4 cycles before the reading levels out.

So are they good to go in my new P+18650 or are the protected ones better?

Dave,
Is that from end to nipple ??
( So according to you're figures it's exactly 0.96 mm taller..)

What about the width (Diameter) Is that any different then the 1600's ??

So If the width is the same.. then do you think they're would be any problems (in you're opinion) with this battery fitting into a Lava tube since the 1 mm should be taken up by the spring ???

Yes, that is it's overall length from end to nipple. Diameter is identical (within .001-002). I don't see fitment problems in most mods. It will fit the PrecisePlus too (two .070 orings under the battery may be a good setup).

Here are the test results of the AW IMR 18650 1600mAh vs the 2000mAh. Test was performed at 2.5 amps which is the approximate draw of a LR 1.5ohm atomizer. The winner? It's a tossup.

Through most of its life, the 1600mah does hold slightly higher voltage under load .

Though total tested mAh of the 2000 was almost 400 more, only 200mAh of it was "useable" and only when using vari voltage/wattage devices (assuming we change out the battery by 3.3volts which is when the Kick by Evolv automatically shuts off). The other 200mah was gained when the battery was under 3.3 volts.

My opinion. If you are running vari wattage/volt mods, run the 2000mAh as you will gain maybe another 1/2 to 1 hour run time.

If running mechanical or non VV mods, run the 1600mAh for its added ability to hold voltage under load. If you change your batteries out at 3.5 volts, you gain no mah by running the 2000mah and it can't hold voltage as well as the 1600mAh.
