Ok, you guys have me thinking about this, but I would want a shorter atty. Any thoughts, and/or recommendations?
I can't give any first hand experience on other atty's, I'm still waiting on my chalice. Focal has the chalice and Zero, fastech has the zenith v2.5. Or you can always pick one up from reosmods though it would cost more than the owl itself.

I'm using a Zenith bought from Angelcigs that came with a bottom feeder pin. They don't have them anymore though. I also made a top cap for the included atty out of a short piece of 3/4" copper water pipe.

The derringer is about as short as they get,and it is very easy to modify for bottom feed. Some people have mentioned cutting a slot in the insulator, but if you have a dremel, all you have to do is push out the center pin,and use a small cutoff wheel to make grooves in the center pin.Took me about 5-10 minutes to do.

After three weeks my Terminator finally arrived. Button is a little wonky, takes a firm press at just the right spot. However I am enjoying it a lot!

Hobo v3 looks good on it...

That Hobo looks really good on there.I am ordering another derringer this week to mod, then next week i'm ordering the Hobo and a freakshow mini that i will mod too.Angelecig had the Hobo in stock at their U.S. wharehouse, but now they are sold out,so hopefully they will get more in before i order next week so i don't have to wait on shipping from a chinese supplier.

thanks b.m. I am wondering if I get a new squonking atomizer will it be better than my OWL.
That would vary by individual tastes, but i only used the owl for maybe an hour, and really didn't care for it,as it has too big of a chamber and that huge drip tip haha, but when i modded the derringer it was a huge difference for me.

The derringer is very easy to mod,at least the one i got was.Mine looked like it had a screw in the bottom, but was actually just a 1 piece positive post with a notch at the bottom to look like a screw.I pushed the center pin out through the bottom, and used the dremel with a small cut off wheel to make 2 grooves from the bottom all the way up to just below the holes for the coil. The grooves dont need to be very deep,i went maybe 1/16" or so deep on each side, then just tap the pin back in through the bottom.I also modded a patriot clone the exact same way.

My smokeless owl has been sitting on the shelf since I got, as didn't like the atty that came with it. But yesterday my zenith 2.5 turned up from fasttech, was easy to switch out the bottom pin and even got a spare bottom fed pin too, also like it is made for single or dual coils, right now got it in dual mode with 26 gauge coils coming in at 0.50ohms, much better flavor, but the button does get rather warm after 5-6 hits. Now waiting on the chalice clone to try on it.

Fasttech.com is now selling the hobo v3 for around $10. It's an ok rda. I had to hold the positive post to keep it from twisting while capturing a coil lead.

    Here's a better picture

I definitely like the flavor from my modded Tobh much better than the hobo.

Anyone know if I can adjust the 510 pin down so the tobh sits a little more flush?

I have a tobh, and never even thought about modding it,not sure why i never thought about doing that one haha. How did you mod it,is the center pin a press fit?
As for the pin on these mods, they are adjustable, but mine was already all the way down when i got it,so i could only adjust it up.

    To mod my Tobh...
I unscrewed the 510 pin, stuck a micro screwdriver through the center post hole and twisted and tugged until it came out. There are two delrin insulators in mine. I pulled them out and used flush cut wire cutters and a carpenter's knife to carefully clip a 2 mm channel top to bottom through both insulators. Put it all back together and make sure the channels line up. Works like a charm and better than I thought it would!
