LibertyFlights, if you do not want this message in this thread, just let me know and I will delete it.

Possibly I can help a bit with the shipping questions some of you have, since Liberty Flights uses UPS and I have done a lot of UPS shipping with companies I've been with in my working life.

From the time a UPS shipper ships till deliver, with standard UPS Ground Service (not Overnight Service, 2nd Day Air Service, or anything else like that), UPS has always told me it takes about a day per state till a package is delivered. So, since Liberty Flights is in (or at least ships from) California, you can make your own estimation of how long a shipment will take once UPS picks up the order.

I hope I'm not interfering here as I am not connected with Liberty Flights in any way, and do not want to, nor even appear to, be trying to get between them and their customers. I'm just trying to help with a bit of information. I hope that is OK.

Tim

Hi Tim and welcome to ECF! I read your charming post yesterday introducing yourself.

As to Liberty. I received 2 shipments from them. The first was via FedEx and the second via the USPS. I'm in NY and it seems that FedEx ground plays by the same rules as UPS. I always get white knuckles when ordering ground shipments via UPS and FedEx. I adore Priority Mail.

But then heck, how many suppliers here only charge $2.99 for shipping?

Hey, our shipping is very simple at the moment, there are two services we use, well three (I think); 2 USPS and 1 Fedex.

FedEx ground - we use this on larger orders, to be honest, it is a terrible service. It has got worse over the past few months/years/decades. It is actually delivered to your door by USPS. We only use this service because of the size issue with priority that I will cover below

USPS Priority - Probably the best domestic service, for the price. The problem is the priority box for about $5 is quite limiting. The next one up is about $10 (that fits kits etc in it) which is a bit too much considering we are covering the cost. As I am in the UK (me personally, not LF US) I can't test things like I would normally. I think priority can be put on padded envelopes which would negate the need for the silly, but handy, priority boxes. If that were to be the case, every order could go out as priority. Anyone big in to their shipping that can confirm this about the envelopes?:)

USPS First Class - only a few orders go out as this, I think below a certain value.

Cheers for the message, tim. Looks like UPS are pretty poor.

The way our shipping tool works, I have to either update it (which I should do anyway) or build it around the framework I made a few years ago. I'd ship all your orders for £2.99 to you by priority if I can figure out the priority service.

I can actually confirm that Priority Mail Flat Rate Envelope will hold a lot, including a boxed eGo kit. I'm not sure how the Riva is boxed, but I would assume the same. I checked at the post office to make sure that shipping larger items in the envelope was okay and was told that if I could close it, it would ship. Just make sure to add a little extra tape to the closure.

I used a priority mail envelope, the flimsy ones not the cardboard, to ship my mums birthday presents to her in Australia. I fit: a watch, a ring, 3 large stickers, a NUMBER PLATE and I still had lots of room to spare. I haven't had the package returned so I assume it's almost there :p For $13 international shipping I couldn't complain. Sure could have fit a lot more in though :)

Here you go.

Just an FYI..these aren't padded, they're all cardboard

That they are - It is just a large flat cardboard envelope. The few times people have attempted to mail large 3D objects to me in them the cardboard was torn. I would not advise LF attempt to send kits in them.

Another option is to do like Good Prophets does - offer a $4 Priority shipping upgrade.

Got my order placed on Sept 23 on Oct 1st, slightly lengthy in delivery time, but not a deal breaker of any kind. My only issue is that I received a titanium cone and not the Titanium single Riva battery (510) that I ordered and was charged for. I called immediately and spoke with a nice gentleman, who stated that he would be sending one right out, so I asked what to do with the cone and he said that he would include a postage paid envelope to send it back in. Ok, no problem. Well, it's the 8th of Oct and I haven't received or heard anything further.
I have two questions, well, maybe more. Anyway, I was wondering if it were possible to just hold onto the cone and work out being charged the sale price for it without sending it back and when you were possibly getting more equipment in, as it would seem you do not have the titanium battery in stock. I really would like to have that color, but not of high priority, in fact I would take another color of what is in stock. Guess the point of this is simply to get a response to my original concern, nothing more, nothing less. Thanks Cindy

Liberty Flights,

I edited my UPS post so as not to confuse new readers of this thread.

If I want one of the 510 Rivas should I order now and you B/O my order, or should I wait till you have stock?

When someone orders from you, is there a place for comments on the order you receive?

Thx!

P.S. I feel funny addressing you by a company name. :)

Tim

Cindy, I'll take a look at this. I do remember this coming in I think so sorry about that.

Cheers, Tim. There will be lots of stock so just keep an eye out, I will email the user database and post on here, they should take a while to sell this time round. We do have a place for order comments.

Oh, my name is Abe, I should probably update my sig. The intention was other people might use this account but it hasn't worked out that way, the leave the bear pit to me.

Nice meeting you Abe. We aren't bears. More like a group of badgers.

Abe,
A quick thank you for great service, my order I placed on October 6th will be here tomorrow according to USPS! 3 days to Michigan is great! Just wondering if there is a way to open your Riva pages up for PREORDERS? I'd love to get mine on order and you could ship them whenever they come in. I might be away from my computer for a few days and would feel better if the order was in and paid for. Just a thought.

Also, are you considering carrying CE2's?
Thanks again
