This is the greatest mod ever, so compact sleek, with a hidden compartment for carts juice ect, wow. I hope it performs as high as my expectations for it!

As mentioned it is only running 3.7 volts so similar to a stock 510 but the 10440 battery might last near twice as long being they are 600mAh.

I will never complain of the time I`ve been getting out of them since they are a small battery. I was very pleased with making this mod since there really is nothing to it and it`s up and running. :)

The 10440 is what I started using in my first mod.
It will outlast a regular 510 or a mega 510, but I don't think the advertised 600mah is accurate. 300 to 380mah is probably the most you could expect.
The volume of the cell (less steel case and protection module) is about 1/3 the volume of a 14500 cell. Assuming the same basic chemistry the 10440 would be expected to have about 1/3 the capacity of the 14500 and they range from 800mah to an advertised 1100mah. (900 to 1000mah is believable).
A handful of 10440s got me through a vacation, but don't expect several times the life as compared to a factory battery.

I'm so anxious for this mod to get underway, what can I say, I love 3.7volts, its what I started on. I'd still like to see a video of this mod in action to hold me over during the shipping wait.

I`d love to see one as well but can`t do it myself. Dial up takes to long.
Takes me 1 hour to download a 2 minute video.
So maybe you could do one after you make it and cover how easy you thought it was putting it together as well. :)
We are getting broadband so when we do I`ll see what I can do but that won`t help you now. Sorry. Plus I could use a hair cut.

Well got my lighters got the connectors got no soldering skills, seriously I'm horrible tried for over an hour last night before giving up and going to bed, on a positive note I did manage to make perfect cuts with my dremel to adjust the lighter for the connector. Don't know what I'll do if I can't learn to solder:oops:

Where are you having the trouble the connector or the spring?

I've never really soldered anything expect for two wires together, I can't get the solder to hold the positive wire in the connector, I even tried putting a nail through and soldering the wire to the nail, maybe I need some thinner solder.

If you take the connector apart you don`t need to worry about getting it to hot and melting the rubber like spacer. It can be tricky to get it back together but doable for sure. You will need to get the connector good and hot to stick the solder to it

Then stick the wire in it. Now giving that your solder isn`t the real fat type see if you can get a small piece of it stuck into the hole with the wire. Mine fits nicely and then just hold the soldering iron on it till it melts. It seems the cheaper $5 soldering iron are just that, cheap and need modding them self. I tried one of those and lets just say junk in my opinion. For $10 to $14 Wal-mart has one that works great. What a difference.

I would and always take my connectors apart to do them though.

ah I understand I poked the center post right out! now it should be easy to solder, once I get the right iron and thinner solder:rolleyes:

Ok you got it apart hope you can get it back together. 8-o

You can use a paper clip but I sure do love this little dental type pick for getting that rubber back in there. Just be sure to insert the small end towards the lighter so the fat end is facing out then perhaps use a little lube say e-liquid and the positive will slip right back in.
You will for sure like the better soldering iron. Made all the difference in the world from going WT/ to oh yea baby. It`s like soldering made easy to me now. And it comes with addition tip and they heat up real nice to the fine point it has. Helps keep the solder where we want. Just finished a 5 Volt using it for the first time. To easy.

nice job, i think i suffer from the same from the same illness.started my 1st mod about a week ago then did another(the 2xAA box w/901 atty)now I'm looking at the 2xAA maglites I've had around the house going Hmm let me see.not to mention the old RC stuff I have.what kind of lighter is that?

See the disease is contagious Dr Joker diagnosed me with.

Icantstopmoddingitis :w00t:

It`s to late to run from what you say already. So just do it grab those flashlights and mod. It`s what we do.
On E-bay
AAA BATTERY CIGARETTE, eBay Motors, Collectibles. Great deals on eBay!+

I`ve also been told this in post #90,

I bought about 10 of these a few months ago from a guy on amazon.com.. he sells them in difrent colors too.. When I worked with this lighter, I found the spring kept heating up and melting the plastic post @6v ... I ended up cutting the post off and using a screw instead.. at 3.7v it seems fine.

love this mod!!!! its the coolest looking thing in all black :) :) :)
thanks a bunch Connman!!!! sweet!!!
ok i got five lighters and five 510 connectors.. made a parel 3v works good.. good battery life... simply run a wire down to the springs via the middle to the positive which connects to the centre of the atty connector. the negivates are joined and the spring connects to that metal join.. i use foil.
I run some silver wire (eg from beading hobby shops) through the 510 connector centre crimping the end that is squashed when the atty is screwed in, the other end goes on the wire down the middle :) also i use bits of an earplug foam so the silver wire doesn't contact the outter casing.. works well .. but yer very dodgy (i'm aussie.. it means shonky) but works :)

the other is a 6v machine!!!

same with the silver through the middle.. batteries as per normal in serial.
the silver wire connects to the positive of one bat and i use wire wrapped around the atty connector and is wrapped around the spring bit that connects to the neg of the other bat. I've insulated the spring from the atty connector casing with carboard, because the spring heats up and melts into the plastic switch leaver.
This way it doesnt melt at all and works great!!

A tip to: i don't glue or solder.
The tabs which hold the heating element for the lighter I use to hold the atty connect, just under the thread of the atty then sits in place perfect.. it's shonky but works well.
and done in all 5minutes. the atty can come out easy enough.. put it back is treaky because of these tabs but still ok :)

thanks heaps again
Bingo :) :)

I'd love to see some pics! I'm interested in this mod as well, I just need to remember to order the lighters .

Maybe some shrink tubing or "liquid electrical tape" would work better than earplug foam?

Great idea with the wire, that stuff is pretty tough (my wife plays around with jewelry making sometimes).
