Ha, was just replying in bluegrasslover's thread. Derjuf's thread is still here I think, but all that good developmental stuff over at VG can't be brought back, bummer. I had a lot over there that was unique to there.
Yes that is indeed a bummer.:( do you have a link to derJufs mini genny? I know you have made a few with success and I was thinking about making myself one

Thanks J80! You might be surprised what is brass underneath, chrome plated, painted even. I can't seem to find much close to you, but I will ask a colleague from Kaliningrad tomorrow what chains there are. If not a hardware store, a lamp parts supplier or a musical instrument store can be a treasure chest as well. I see you have OBI (ОБИ), this is where I get M3 brass cap nuts and stainless M3 threaded rod. Also you should have Leroy Merlin (Леруа-Мерлен), and they have better prices but no brass cap nuts. This one I don't know at all: Kashirsky Dvor (Каширский двор).

Also these are pretty cheap and have all sorts of nuts:

Wow J80, that is a masterpiece, it looks like a great switch and the big spines are a real hit too. Please post more details and pics for what you used. A half hour with some varieties of sand paper and it will be as smooth as a mirror. Has it got magnets?

3 Brass tubes, which i found at home. I was too lazy to purchase brass, so one of the tubes was used for top and bottom plates. Brass is old.. so scratches everywhere.

ok, back to button. It is an ordinary part of shower faucet :)

- not this, just to show the part
I found old one of course. The one which i use is from mixer shower and bath valve.
Yes, button have magnets. To place them I machined button leg (firing pin) on the drill to the biger magnet inner diameter

Ingenious use of the shower valve, I held onto a sink faucet but without such a valve, and it eventually got thrown out. And your re purposing of the tube to make plate turned out very well too.

I don't do well with bent or curved pieces, but you have helped me visualize some things for a future pipe design that I have been thinking about. I do really like yours. How do you like the spring retaining system?

Hey asdaq,
Nice to hear you like the idea of the shower valve button.
The springs mechanism is quite good (surprising good). It just need to be held in hand to fully understand the benefits and the entire design (so I need to build this mod myself to feel this brilliant idea which I have keep in mind for years which pass from time I seen this for the first time). Sorry not so good in English to express my feelings :) So just thank you for this perfect thing.

My retaining system is built on base of 5mm stainless steel spikes, so springs which I have found also of big diameter ))) Thinking of cutting them a little bit as entire mod can be held by springs with less strength. I just thought it should be stronger, but actually there is no need for this, It was an idea also to put tubes together using an inner little screw, but than I just clue them with epoxy putty to keep it as simple as possible.
Here a pair of photos in better resolution
