I think if they aren't Helen Keller they will know you aren't smoking a real cigarette no matter what you are using.

EDIT: The other turnoff for me with 5v devices are charging the batteries. I've yet to see a multi charger for mod batteries. If you have a link to a source I'd be elated. I need enough battery power to get through a day without finding an outlet to charge from or whatever.

My batteries (whether 14500's or cr123a's) last me 6-8 hours on a charge. I carry a spare set in the car always just incase I'm out for 10-12 hours on a particular day so there is no need for charger away from the house. They ususally recharge in less than two hours on my Tenergy or Trustfire charger. Another nice thing about 5 volt batteries, is they only cost about $3.50 and can be recharged 2000 times unlike the small cig style batteries. I get my batteries and chargers from Deal Extreme, Battery Junction or Lighthound. If you use cr123a batteries you can get non-rechargible ones at Batteries Plus to have on hand for an emergency. They have a 10 year shelf life and have lasted me 12 hours of heavy use.

I gave up on quitting smoking years before I got my PV.

Deep down inside, I didn't believe vaping could replace smoking for me. I smoked for a couple of months after I started vaping and had no idea I would be able to let go of those last few analogs.

One day, I wondered if I could make it for just that one day without smoking. It was a very long day. :D That night, when I went to bed, I was elated... I'd made it! And really, it wasn't that hard. I wondered if I could make it just one more day. And so on.

Some members, I'm sure, know exactly where I learned how to do that.

I was hoping to find this post again, had to wait until I had the required amount of posts just to reply here.

Now, I am not going to say this is the best way to do this, but this is my third attempt in two years to quit smoking. I have smoked almost 30yrs, have soked as many as two packs a day, although have been able to for the last couple years keep it around 1/2 pack a day.
First off I am turning 50 Sunday, I am so determined that I will quit smoking before then that I first started listening to subliminal quit smoking mp3, a self hypnosis quit smoking mp3 both found on the web.
Free Hypnosis To Stop Smoking | Free Stop Smoking Hypnosis CD
Stop Smoking
Should give you a pop upfor 3 free mp3 plus ebook...
Listened to these for two days then bought a box of nicotine patches..Had my last cig (anolog) 6Pm Saturday eve... (knew I would be okay until morning) listened to the hypnosis, then went to sleep listening to the subliminal.
In the morning I slapped on my patch...
During the morning I had thought about the e-cig used in the movie "The Tourist"..started looking on line and ordered my starter kit (still waiting for it to arrive)...
Yes I was having my usually but more habitual wanting to smoke so looked again online to see if I could find a smokeshop near by that sold e-cigs, went and bought an inexpensive one just to try it and to passify that "urge"
I am using the patch, the e-cig, and when needed the subliminals & hypnosis

For me this has been working!

Again, I just want to thank everyone for their replies and their support! If it was easy to quit smoking I doubt there would be very many smokers in the world today - most people want to quit. I'll keep on trying!! (and maybe get hubby to start vaping!)

Well said, *exactly* :) I just didn't "quit smoking" - I replaced the behavior with something that comes as close as possible to smoking. It's an addiction, physically and psychologically. I only replaced both components with vaping. I am still fiercely addicted to nicotine, I just vaporize it now. Vaping is just a different (and I believe much safer) way of delivering nicotine to the receptors in my brain.

I consider myself *very* lucky that vaping satisfies all of the psychological facets of my "smoking" addiction. I firmly believe that if it didn't, I would still be clinging to however many regular cigarettes a day it took to satisfy those bits.

I need to feel my e-cig in my hand, I've become "addicted" to holding it in my mouth and biting on the tip, I need to feel the vapor in my mouth and most of all I need to see the vapor when I exhale. I have an odd habit of sometimes blowing three "smoke rings" and when all of the stars line up right with the earth, sun and moon- all is right in my little world.

I'm in no way trying to invalidate anything anyone has said here because it's all great advice.
That said - everyone is different, and each of us has spent time developing our own smoking rituals. Sometimes it takes a little bit of analyzing or questioning, "What part of my smoking ritual is not getting satisfied by this e-cig thingie"? Then, making the adjustments... trial and error.

When you keep trying, tweaking and making those little adjustments you will get it, and vaping will replace smoking. It's not always an easy process for everyone, but it's a process. Make it a fun process... vaping is also a hobby (to me anyway) and it's fun to experiment and play around with all of the options. I'll bet when it really starts working for you and your husband sees how successful you are, he'll want to hop on the vape-train :)

Good Luck!!

My wife and I were both buying our cigs 5 cartons at a time once a month each. Around the beginning of December was our last purchase. My goal when we got our first kit was to not have to make another purchase when those were gone. I still had 3 cartons left when mine arrived. A month later I still have 2.5 and haven't touched a cig since the 2nd of this month. I hadn't made the decision to quit at that point. I had merely transferred my need for a cig to my need to get my pv working properly. My wife has lit up a few times only to take a puff, stub it out, and go back to vaping. Higher nic juice, a lozenge or snus, lower resistance cartos/atomizers, or mod may all help. Biggest thing for me was taking off the pressure. I worked on making my vaping experience as pleasurable and effective as possible to make the transition effortless and positive. I have not quit. I have replaced my cigs with something I like better. That's my experience so far. I'm still looking for the perfect pv/juice combo but I'm close enough now that cigs don't even appeal to me anymore. Good luck finding your way, but try not to stress. Have fun with it.
