Have been reading all I can here but figured it was time to make my first post. Last night at 7:00 P.M. made 4 weeks with no cigs for the wife and myself, and we feel GREAT! A little background,we smoked for over 35yrs each. With wife at about a pack a day, myself anywhere from 1-3 packs a day.I tried everything to quit but was never successful. We started with V2 e-cigs,although they are pricey what they did was get us off analogs. And that is hard to put a price on (and I didn't know about ECF at the time). At the time we thought we needed something that looked like a cig, felt like a cig,and tasted like a cig,to replace a cig. Is it a psychological thing or not knowing anything different exist,I don't know. But many seem to follow this same route. After a short time we didn't want anything that tasted like a cig, for looking like a cig that changed from endlessly charging batteries. I got a KGO after 1 week of vaping and reading here, wife held out till 3 weeks (she said KGO looked to big) finally giving in after she would see me charging mine once a day and she always had at leased 1 battery on the charger all the time! Haven't found the big money savings YET (that everyone says we should have),still sampling juices, and equipment. But the way we feel is worth every penny and then some. Keep eyeballing that ProVari isn't going to help the savings, but man is it sexy. Wife said order it if I want (married 23 yrs and I know why), might suprize her with a ProVari mini for herself.

FORMER 32+ year smoker at 1.5 - 2 packs a day.

Yep...chasing that cig 'lookalike/tastealike' pattern is VERY familiar! That's how I started, and it wasn't until I upgraded my hardware that I successfully made the switch to vaping. (Took me TWO YEARS to find that out!)

The expenses ARE pretty steep in the beginning, but when you find your setup, and several juices you LIKE, it will taper off substantially. In my signature, I keep a running total of my 'expenses' posted below my 'savings'.

After a couple of months vaping, my expenses were higher, but now - after SIX MONTHS - I'm able to compare real expenses, against the real savings of not buying/smoking analogs. Plus, I feel better, breathe better, smell better, and my sense of taste and smell has increased in the extremes!

I'm into Ego batts with Stardust Cartomizers, and a LavaTube with Stone tank or fluxomizers. THAT was the combination I needed. If you (and wifey) get a Provari, I expect you'll love it...THEN you'll see your own savings! ;)

Congrats to BOTH of ya! Stick with us here in ECF...these folks will get you thru...... :)

Thanks for the welcome everyone. The funny thing is the wife and I both agreed to no pressure that if we needed a smoke it's ok,we'll do it in our own time. But we took our first vape, looked at each other and said this will work we can do this.My wife said her friend asked her what it is like quitting smoking and vaping. She said it's not so much like she quit as she switched brands.

Congratulations and Welcome to ECF!

We went the same route! I started with a Greensmoke, then the KGO and today I bought the Provari. I haven't saved money, but I have saved my life. I'm pretty set now... I'll use the juices I have and the cartomizers... and try and re-coup some of the cost :) :) :)

When trying new juices just order the smallest size that helps a lot on cost... no use being saddled with a huge bottle of OMgosh this is nasty :) :)

Great Success to you and your Wife!:toast:

That is a great way to put it.. it is like switching brands. I agree on the no pressure.... I still have analogs (cigarettes) here.... it is a choice, and I don't even want to smoke!!! If it wasn't a choice, I would have a hard time.

AMEN!!!

I still have half a pack of Winstons sitting here on my desk, and haven't smoked in more than 6 MONTHS!

In case you can't tell...I AM AMAZED!!! (They used to call my name, but I can't even hear them now...I think they died. :D)

Congrats to YOU, too! :)

blkhwk, welcome to ECF! My husband made the switch a month before I did and I still make him fill cartos for me when I use them, lol. I love that we have a great hobby we can share that is also making our lives better! Congrats to you both on your success!

Mike, I love that you've kept track of your expenses.. what a great idea to keep it right there in your siggy! I'd probably faint at the amount of "start-up" costs we've spent so far, but I can definitely see that the spending is slowing down (most of our spending now occurs in the Classifieds). By the time we reach 6 months, we will have definitely saved money. I'll have to go start adding up what I've spent now so I can follow your fabulous lead. :)

dlsw we live in Bellefontaine,a hick town between Columbus and Lima not far from Marysville.I had a pack of unopened cigs for two weeks and thru them away.I can be around people at work smoking and it doesn't bother me (other than the smell).I've wanted to quit for some time, weezing, out of breath, etc. I feel better than I have in probably 20yrs and the wife says the same!Happy to be here with others that feel the same!

geekswife,I got a vision stardust(I think that's what it's called),wife said it was just ok. So I ordered some color ones,a few pink and she said Ooooo them are cool can I try one? I told her it's pretty technical to fill (like a boy toy:2cool:),but after I showed her how to fill it she said she can fill those. So I gave her the pink ones.:p

Congrats on quitting!! I started 2/1/2012 and have loved it ever since the first vape! I just got my wife to consider an Ecig I have her on a dual coil carto on an ego battery while her infinity pro is coming in the mail. She told me order something easy to use and pretty so I got her the blue ipro and a blue tank to match with a lilac cherry vapes tip. I'm really hoping she can move to using the Ecig more. I'm kind of by myself with it so having a partner in crime would be awesome! You guys had the right idea from the start and that's awesome keep it up!! Welcome aboard!

Good job on going with the pretty ones, boys. It's hard for us to refuse something that cute, even when we want to, LOL. :D

My first "big girl" purchase made all by myself was a GLV2 Super Mini. Electronic Cigarettes and E-Liquid - Great Lakes Vapor Have your wives look them over, being able to choose your color was a big plus for me. And I'm not trying to break you, but when my husband was here asking for advice on how to get his wife to make the switch (I was being quite stubborn), one (very intelligent) member warned him that many women view vaping supplies much like shoes & jewelry. Show them Bert's Trippy Tips http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...upplier-forum/184358-art-glass-drip-tips.html) as well. I was a goner- hook, line & sinker- after that, ha!
