Totally agree. People will charge what their customers are willing to spend. Whether their markup over materials/labor/design is 20% or 10,000% is irrelevant, as long as people willing to pay that price. My hat is off to them for capitalizing on a great opportunity. Lots of "collectors" out there willing to shell out huge amounts for a metal tube with a button. If the product is popular, it will be duplicated and offered for lower prices, that is inevitable and the vendors know that, so it's a race to make as much as possible till that happens.

Again, my politics agree... but I am saying that I don't like that here on ecf... like classwife said, this place has always been about helping people out - look at the strict regulations imposed on vendors here...

The only thing I could see myself whining about is losing the ability to sell/buy in the classies the way they are intended to be used...

This happens on forums sometimes... profiteering or aggressive sales eventually opens the doors to lawsuits and other ugliness that ultimately forces the forum to shut it down completely -

So... why invite that here? Left unchecked, I think it would destroy the classies... that would be bad for everyone.

...and here's the kicker... there is in fact quite a market for a venue like this... I'd go to it and use it myself... I just don't want it on ecf...

that's the issue... not on ecf...

I am one of the so-called "crybabies" that think it is a shame that people tend to try and take advantage of others less fortuneate. I am more than willing to spend what the people that made these mods are charging upfront, just no luck in finding one for that price. someone will get retail from me one day for a nice hybrid

I would guess that faceless has honed his skills getting the LE's out and learned enough to be capable of making an $99 mod. And that $99 mod should perform in spectacular fashion.
I cant put any blame on him or any of the peoples that originally make these mods for the fiasco that these create

The only fiasco I see is is the people not involved in these transaction stating their opinions about something that really has nothing to do with them.
Now I did say I think the person paying the high price is silly but to them the price is worth it so good for them. Not a single one of them asked for my approval before they made the purchase.
I have pretty tidy sum wrapped up in my collection and I will continue to add to it as its a collection it has nothing to do with practicality or function.
I doubt there are any of us here who do not have something we don't waste money on or some sort of excess we indulge. Im proud of my Mod collection and I thoroughly enjoy it.
So to be perfectly honest I have more of a problem with someone who condemns someone else for doing something that causes absolutely no harm to anyone and anyway possible. I would say those people are guilty of buisybuddyism ;-) and need to get a life

Buzzlove... not really talking about iHybrids LE's and your awesome mod collection anyway... Profits from selling rare pieces in your collection at a premium isn't really the kind of problem that anyone is condemning - nor is anyone really condemning your right to pay whatever you want for someone else's mod...- and ecf doesn't seem to have a problem with these collector to collector transactions.

In fact, you have the more to lose than me if other people abuse the classies. You should be vigilant in helping keep the classies free from scammers.

It's not collectors and enthusiasts like you that pose a threat... it's people with a less vested interest in the ecf community that only want to profit from it that are a concern... I think it's completely naive to think that these people couldn't eventually ruin things for us.

anyway, this thread wasn't supposed to morph into a divisive rant where people call others whiners...

All I am saying is that the classies are important to me... and I believe that when they start resembling ebay and craigslist.... you... buzzlove... and all of us... could lose out big time...

ECF has obviously taken steps to protect the classies... but if they didn't need our help, then they wouldn't have the clicky button for reporting profiteering.

there is a pretty big difference between making a profit and being a profiteer... no one is saying what you are doing is profiteering...

I see what your getting at and pretty much agree with everything you've said. I was directing my post at those who look down their nose at others. Sorry If I was not clear.
I think things will level out I know of a modder who plans to flood the market with some well made top end type devices at a affordable price hes doing so with efficient material use and machining cost. Much like Facless is going to do with the Pure also even the CHI YOU is dumping 700 units on the market next month.
I think the people making the mods don't want some of the crap going on as it is so they are trying to help the problem in their way.

I don't like the looks of any of the LE ones. I prefer clean lines, shiny metal, etc. But if someone wants to spend $500 on something that looks like a microphone from an 80s video of a synth pop band, it's their right to do so. So long as there are cheap alternatives for people who want something that just functions and well crafted items across the full spectrum of price ranges, I don't see the problem with it. Nobody is making anybody spend $500 to vape. Would the world be a better place if everyone got whatever they wanted for cheap? sure... but we don't live on that planet.

here are all my unobtainables..... all my mods.jpg like i said earlier way back in the post...it is imho crazy to pay over retail for any of these...for many of the reasons described above...they are all functional devices, to a certain extent collectible, but there is always something new on the horizon, so why would anyone want to spend over-retail cost on a used mod when a new shiny one will be out next week? i bought one expensive mod, because i wanted THAT SPECIFIC mod, but i waited until it was available and used every coupon and possible way to save any amount of money i could....i have another mod i would like to buy soon...a poldiac....its available, but expensive, so i will wait patiently until the piggy bank gets a bit fatter....the classifieds should be a way to trade or help vapers get things they want, as i did recently trading a bt804 for a chid....i concur with all of the above members ...... off that a piece of decorated metal should be sold used for over retail...

I've only paid a nutty price once, but it was SO well worth the investment. And no, it wasn't a hybrid. I don't expect to do it again either. And I'd NEVER consider selling something for over retail. EVER.

I bought a hybrid a while back to see what all the fuss was about. It did hit pretty hard but I sold it within several days. I think I made $8 on it after shipping. I rebuild mini vivi novas with ss wicks and slap them on an ego battery. They're a fraction of the size of any hybrid and don't leak in my pocket. The taste and vapor production is on par with any of my bigger rba tanks also. I can slap them on any of my mech/vv/vw mods at home and the price can't be beat. To each his own, but I'll take function over fashion any day....
