Who honestly prefers the vape from an un-kicked mech?

Now I really want a mech! I'll restate that the CCTS aka Chi Chi aka KTS aka Kamry Telescopic "Storm" seems to draw me to it, especially the two tone variety. I guess I am kind of hoping that it might be the Vamo of mech mods of a sort, at least where "bang for the buck" is concerned. It should be easy for me to pass off on a friend if I decide I don't like it or I'll just keep it as the beginning of a new section in my vaping collection garden. Is it a good starting off place? I like the looks better than the K100 or similar bottom button mods... smok Natural going to offer me something significant for the higher price?

Is there *anything* in the $40 range I should also consider? If so, why?

Thanks again, everyone!

Keep in mind that to achieve optimal performance from an RBA/RDA you need to have quality wire/wick and the know how to get it setup correctly.

Yup. I'm what friends and family would say is "technically/mechanically" inclined. I already have several RDAs and one AGA-T2, almost five hundred feet of kanthal A1 and full A4 sheets of 400 and 500 mesh. I joined ECF four years ago and took apart my first automatic cig-a-like to see how the air switch worked before that. I'm no expert by any means... But I'm not exactly your usual beginner either ;)

It's really developing the hobby aspect of vaping that helped me quit smoking this last time. I catch on quickly and fully intend to continue modding, wrapping, wicking and whatever else this "hobby" brings... as long as it helps keep me off the stinkies.

Interesting! You guys dropping on the nic level... If you leave the mech at home and take something like a vivi topped spinner out to the pub are you still comfortable at the SLR levels of nic or do you go up a notch or two?
Mech goes everywhere. Got into RBAs mainly to get away from replaceables, to me they are all garbage.

I'd say king of the bang for the buck in the mech world is the K100 ... But again, a bottom button.

I have the natural, it's nice for me because I like to tinker, and it leaves a lot to be desired which can easily be rectified with tools. That said, I think a properly sensitive bottom button is easier to fire than the natural bottom/side thing. It's stiff out of the box, and seeing as I use my hands all day at work, they always ache when using the natural. It smooths out after a week but it's nothing like a PAPS.

Just spotted a pre-order on the Segeli #19 too. Stainless steel, brass end caps, looks solid, and a magnetic switch? Is a magnetic switch the next big thing to have? Of course it's bottom firing too...

segelei telescope #19 with magnetic switch

I love the magnetic switch on my NZonic.

It's as mechanical as you can get... Not even a 'wire' coiled into a spring ;)

I have genesis setups for at home and a Reo Grand with a Hornet for on the go or when I want something easy. I'm down to 6mg now as my regular 12-18mg spins my head pretty hard. I don't think I could use anything else now that I've got used to this the vape just doesn't satisfy me anymore.

Okay I'm by no means an expert on this subject but I do have the power of observation behind me. What you get with a mechanical and the low ohm usually dual coil set ups is this an almost instantaneous coil fire producing vapor. A gentleman by the name of bishopheals uses what he calls a highlander dual coil set up. Using thinner wire 32-34 gage. When you fire it, it lights up immediately and produces a warm juicy flavorful vape with no dry hits. Every mod
has its uses and I feel vv/vw are for high voltage high ohm vapping that's where they shine. Mechanicals shine with the sub 1 ohm set ups. Again though it comes down to personal preferences. If you enjoy dripping a mechanical with a very low ohm coil set up is the way go. I started out with an ego 900mah pass with a 1.8ohm ce4 clearo got me off the tabacco that very day. I'm currently using a ccts with a phoenix clone rba dual coil .7 ohm set up and getting great results. I'm about to purchase a segelei #19 and igo l right after I post this :vapor:

I like the best of both worlds. I have a vv/vw that I use at home. For wandering around I use mechanicals. Not sure why, but it works for me. I love my kick. I use it with the uber expensive :p Bolts. No extender ring - stealth 18350 kicked, one ring - 18500 kicked, two rings - 18650 kicked. The fun part is that I have several bolts and a bunch of rings so I can mix and match to my mood. I'm experimenting with polymer clay on the rings. Maybe even the battery tubes. If I'm worried about running out of battery power easy to remove the kick and go "bare".

The mechanical mods seem to be slightly smaller then the same batt vv mods. Less to breakdown. And I do get a better LR vape from the mechanicals.

Well thanks for all the wisdom and feedback guys!

I punched the button on a Sigelei #19 on Exhale's crazy price pre-order and paid another $33 for a #8 from Hoosier because they had them in stock and could ship *today* (I want to play!) Also ordered a second AGA-T2 and my first IGO-L, both of which I'm planning to reserve for sub-ohm mechanical use. I save my vivis and the like for my Vamo & Spinners. I have plenty of 18650 batts, now just need to find a smoking deal on quality 18350s for stealth mode! FUN!!! :D

You probably made the right choice. I have had the KTS Chrome and Gold for about a month. Mechanically it is fine, and the vape is very good, but not better than my SS VAMO. I bought it for a mechanical backup in case the Vamo dies. Problem: The gold finish is very poor. I tried to polish it up on my polishing wheel, no hard buffing, just slight pressure, and the gold finish started coming off. I immediately stopped, and it still looks good, but if you polish that sucker too much you will end up with plain chrome, or plain brass underneath.
