The one in my 510 is 1.5 months old. I use it weekdays at work and when I'm out on the weekends.

The one in my Prodigy is 1 month and 2 days old. I use it constantly in the evenings and on weekends.

Never cleaned them. I just blow them out when needed and drain them overnight.

I use JC liquid exclusively.

Both still going strong.

im still on my first 510 atty. its over a month old, and stronger than the first day i got it. I even put a cart on weird and it brushed the steel-wool off to the side of the atty. Didnt make a difference. Just blow them out daily, and at the most wash them in warm water only. i only do that to get menthol taste outta there.

I don't perform any kind of maintenance on my attys, I just use them until they slow down or die. I have some last 6 weeks, some 6 days, there doesn't really seem to be any consistency. I keep the ones that merely slow down, in case the supply line ever dries up, I can try and breathe some life back into them. But when I think of analogs running $6/pack, and I was smoking a pack a day, I'm not terribly disappointed if I only get a week's use out of an atty.

Don't throw anything away. Most atomizers can be brought back to life unless there is a mechanical fault. Check the atomizer with a volt/ohm meter to see what the resistance reads. If the resistance is below 10 or 12 ohms the coil is still functioning and just needs to be cleaned. If the resistance is much higher than that the cleaning will do no good. I've had great success soaking the atomizers in alcohol for several days to a week.

Most clogged atomizers will respond to this cleaning. Eventually the atomizers will get too bad to clean due to the build up of carbon on the coil. There are more extreme methods available.

I am not sure a dry burn is a good idea on the M401. I tried it and now the bad taste will only go away for a little bit and then comes back. My M403 atomizer I have never dry burnt on and it tastes fine. I'm not sure but I think there may be a subtle difference between the 401 and the 403. The 403 has a much easier draw and has not developed a bad taste.

I don't know about the 401, especially since this is the 510 forum. Some have reported success with a dry burn on their 510 attys. I have revived 2 attys with a hydrogen peroxide wet burn. It has worked where the alcohol soak didn't.

Take this for what it's worth.
I mix a lot of VG in my juice, and it's as thick as Molasses. I've yet to have atty problems with any of my 5 different models.

I only clean an atty when it gets hard to draw on. Usually a few months of use. I drop it in grain alcohol for 24 hrs and blow dry with canned air. Then load em up with juice and continue.

Only my opinion, but it works for me.

I have found that the more I mess with my attys trying to clean them the more of them I have lost. I went thru a lot of 901's in the beginning. Now I just leave it alone, giving a dry burn every so often and so far the one I have now is 7 weeks old and doing great.

For my 510, I have lost one atty, all my fault. The one I am using now is going on 8 weeks old and still vapes like new. I give it a dry burn every now and then too.

Jim, when I used the canned air on my 901's it instantly quit working. How do you use it?

I don't hit them with full pressure. Just a light pull on the trigger. When using pure alcohol, you need very little air to evaporate it. And any leftover alcohol will vape out.

And I agree with your first remark. I too, think that people are cleaning their attys too much.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Well I just lost my first atty today and glad I found your post! I measured the resistance and it's at 10 ohms. So by your expertise, it's just gummed up? I sprayed a bit of contact cleaner in there and will now soak it for a few days in achohol - that should remove any of the contact cleaner. Then I'll do a dry burn. Does this sound like it should work? I'd love to think I can bring it back!

Just out of curiosity, what are the "more extreme methods" ?

Ive found that soaking atty in alcohol for a few days really cleans them out. let them dry and then do a 5-7 second burn. However, my wife and I have been using the same 3 atomiser's for over 2 months now and they still work like they're brand new. The 510 attys are the vest I've ever seen. I haven't even cleaned any of them. They are touh little workhorses. If your having trouble with your 510 atty's, perhaps you got them from TW. I hear alot of people are having trouble with the TW 510 atty's that come in 5 packs. I got mine from heavens gifts and Cignot. Atty's and batteries from these two suppliers have been flawless. I really reccommend Cignot. Excellent company to deal with.

Sorry for the delayed response. Higher resistance is the first sign that the atty is going bad. The higher the resistance the more heat the atty will give off and cause more resistance to form..... Then it's a cascade effect. I haven't done the math but it doesn't take too many ohms of resistance to stop the flow of DC to a point where the atty no longer functions.

Sometimes they can be brought back to life with Hydrogen Peroxide. What you do is tape the connection between the atty and the battery so the liquid won't drain out. Then put in just enough hydrogen peroxide to cover the coil and then hit the switch for about 5 seconds. Then you may need to repeat the burn several times. Let it cool off between burns as it will get very hot. This proceedure is a last resort type of move I have only had about 30% success doing this. Be careful not to over stress the battery. Keep a good gap in the time cycles. But, again once the resistance starts going up there may be nothing you can do. The carbon build-up on the coil normally will not effect the resistance, only vapor production.

Please, show me where this is posted. I just ordered 10 from there and hope I haven't made a mistake.

Check my post Odd atty problem. I ordered two 5-packs and had issues with the first atty I opened. Wouldn't wick. It heated up just fine but wouldn't draw from a cart, no matter how wet. Opened up a second one and am doing much better. Problem is, there is no warranty (even DOA) with the attys. I wrote to TW and was informed that I was SOL. As I mention, they say it on the website and I knew it when I ordered. I'll take the hit for it.

I've only tried 2 so far. As far as I know the other 8 are perfect. Or not.
