I know we all have been reading and attempting the vast number of 510 cartridge mods. I have been using the original straw mod myself for a long time. Thinking that most of the other ideas were lame I ignored most of the new ideas. But, I heard about the latest upgrade and from all the hype I thought I would give it a try.

So I am here to say that there is a better mouse trap out there. It started with this one:

By eclypse, this mod has had a lot of success, I haven't tried this one but I have tried this one:

By Kristin,

They both work on the principal that you have a liquid reservoir formed by putting in a couple of small straws or coffee stirrers in the base of the cart and having a "plug" on top to wick the juice and keep the juice in place to prevent leaking into the atomizer.

Kristin's method utilizes a plug made from Scotch Brite Non-scratch Pad material. And eclypse's method uses Bonded Foam Sleeve Rite Size U. Made for HOT Magnum Canister Filters.

I haven't had a chance to try the different model plug material yet. But I have created the straw bottom portion and I use a piece of the stock filler material as my plug. Anyway, the moral to this story is that it really works!. I have been using this mod for 2 days now and I am impressed. On my Protege I can comfortably vape every drop af juice out of the cart without experiencing a harsh vapor experience. I consistantly can vape 13 to 14 drops out of the cart getting clouds of vapor the whole time. A couple of times I vaped the entire cart and filler plug completely dry.

So take a look at these posts and try it, you will like it. I recommend it.

Spring mod is similar to the RSP straw mod, but the straw mod allows more control since you can fine-tune the length of the straw to the size of your foam. The spring and Plug mods require some finicky mucking with the size of the foam filler - trimming the straw is quite a lot easier, more exact, and works better IMHO.

I actually use Kristin's RSP straw mod with the blue foam filler from Eclypse's Plug mod right now, but I'm going to look for some of that Scotchbrite stuff, hoping to overcome a couple deficiencies with the blue foam.

Hi Scottes,

I just wanted more users know that there are ways to improve the vape. We all know that we can use the battery mods to increase the run time of our PVs. But this type of cart mod seems to be the best one you can do on a stock cart to increase the run time of the cart. Maybe one day the nice folks that bring us the great battery mods will start working on the other half of the PV, the cart and atty.

An added note. If anybody is going to use the "pad" style plug.. and you are using the 901 whistle tip carts with the D-shaped opening... do yourself a favor and run to your local hardware store and get a 5/16" punch. You can hammer out a bunch of "plugs" in no time flat. Then just cut the flat to make the "D", and you've got near-perfect plugs. Little muss, little fuss, and they will be consistent from unit to unit.

My $.02 and I won't make change.

i'd be careful with what material you choose... i wonder what that scotch-brite pad does if you hit with any heat... that foam i bet will melt in some situations... it's also an ABRASIVE... if for some reason abrasive particles got in your juice and into the vape... that might be bad. i've tried the blue foam mentioned in the various methods... and it seems to give me a headache for some reason.

the straw idea is great... and cutting the bottom of the straw with jagged scissors or manually making a /\/\/\/\/\/\ pattern on the bottom will help air flow. to get the juice on the plug.

on a side note... i bought 3 packs of 901 carts and they suck. they're true 901 carts i think... and don't mesh well with the low bridge attys i have... the 510 carts work amazing though (LOL)

when i get a moment today i'm going to try the straw + plug. with a THIN plug... like 1/8 - 1/16 inch thick and see if it works for me... the 1/4 x 1/4 x 1/4 plug doesn't work for my chain vaping.

-----ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!! i'm out of my everyday juice!!!!!!! (cheesecake!)

Ummm.... the Scotch Brite pad will melt if you hit it with an open flame. It's been tested. At atty temps, it doesn't do anything. Much like polyfill.

And.. as was mentioned in the threads, the 96 green and non-scratch blue pads aren't abrasive filled.

Thanks do much for providing this info. I just went and boutght some of the blue foam from my local pet store but they did n ot have type U so I bought V which I guess is the same thing for the most part. Anyway I loaded up one of my 510 carts with Liq Xpress Caramel Machiatto and used the blue plug as you suggested and have never had a better vaping experience thus far. I'm vaping in my Silver Bullet at 6 volts and every single hit was just pure flavor and killer clouds. This works incredible for 6 volt vaping.

Thanks Again,
Derek

I'm glad I provided some help. I'm just estatic about how well this mod works. I can vape the cart dry just about every time. The hit is just like dripping but without the hassel. The only down side is I'm going through more juice now.

*ANNOYED* ;)

For reasons that I don't understand at this exact moment.. I can't upload pics.

You're not gonna just trust me.. eh?

I had to put the pics on a site like picassa and then link to them.
I get the linked data and then click on the little picture icon (14th from the right on the bottom row of the posting window). Insert the link data and they appear.
It's a problem with the new servers.
