So I'm having tons of trouble with my 510 and the carts (constant topping off, melting of filler and cart, etc), but I was wondering if you drippers out there wouldn't mind explaining to me how you drip efficiently, and if its working for you I guess. Thanks
510 primarily as a drip device?

I think the 510 is a pretty crappy drip device actually. It works best when topping off carts IMO (and I hate carts). When I have just used it as a dripper with no batting that is when I melt carts (I think sanding down the carts helps( and the atty floods pretty easily so you have to be careful when dripping it or it becomes a drippy mess with all the nooks and crannies in the bare cart. My answer has been to buy a couple of 306 atties and use it for dipping attached to the PT. So far so good, but also I really like exposed atomizers and really don't like carts (I drip/dip with pretty much everything) so I am not the typical 510 user.
How often do you top off the carts? I have to every 5-10 drags and the bottom 3/4 of the filler is completely saturated still. It bugs me that I'm wasting so much juice on so few drags and spend so much time taking everything apart and putting it back together.
I think I can get between 10 and 20 although the flavor kind of dies out in there. You might want to try the straw or pin hole mods to get alittle more of the juice wicked. Make sure you are using clean or fresh batting too. Also If you puff in batches of 5 and then rest I think it works better although that doesn't fit my style very well either (this is all why I hate carts). THat is why I like exposed atomizers. Dip the end in the liquid and it will soak up about 15-20 puffs (about the same as an old style smoke) and when its dry dip again or set it aside (its an old 401 users trick). I just ordered a couple of 306 atomizers which fit the 510 batteries and I am happier with it that way (battery life still blows and I think there is a drop in vapor but with the manual switch not that much). I would say let the fanboys blast at your posts (ignore most of what they say) and listen to the people who try to help you get the most out it and then decide. I am pretty disappointed with the 510 so I might not be the most help.
You are actually some of the best help I've had on this site so far. I have tried the cart mods...I don't know if I did it correctly but it didn't do a whole lot for me; I still needed to top off every 10-20 drags. What exactly is dipping?
So far the battery life hasn't been too bad with the manuals batts. I have three batts, a pt, and a pcc so I have power whenever I need it. My problem with the 510 is that I have to top off alllllll the time. I want something that I can use as a pacifier and puff on all day (or at least for an hour or so). Maybe I'm just not comfortable with it yet...maybe I should just use it every now and then when I need a fix (like smoking analogs)... I don't know. Hope the pipe or 801 is better.

Dipping only works for the exposed atomizers like the 401, 306 (which works fine on the 50 batteries), and I think some of the super super minis like the 8084. You still have to dip every 10-20 puffs but I find it easier and you always get a nice clean puff. I am a pacifier vaper too and one thing that works well for me with the manual button is that I will keep it in my mouth and suck on it sometimes and not press the button. It gives you the oral fix but doesn't make you puff like a fiend. I like the 801 and used the carts for a while, but I drip on that now too. The big atomizer makes it a little easier.
