Once I noticed a pack was lasting 2 days I started putting down how many cigs I smoked each day. It felt great to see that number get lower and lower. I got stuck on one or two a day for over a month, finally decided to not buy another pack. Was very hard the first few mornings. Just vaped my way thru it. Every time I woke up I had forgotten there was no cig waiting for me. That was when I realized vaping was a tool and not a cure. Haven't had a cig in 2.5 years now.
I totally agree. I support dual use if needed. However I found that the only way most people can totally quit is at some point to stop buying and not have the temptation.

Have you thought about making your own juice?

You can have total control over what works. There are great flavor concentrates out there.

Hangsen concentrates are really close to Dekang ejuice. I wouldn't be surprised if they weren't the same company.

I've thought about the diy way. For now though out of simplicity sake, stay away from that.

Oh , I'm a rebuildable guy 100 percent, in fact, in my 7 years of vaping, I have never vaped anything but rebuildables (except a cig a like, the first few months I started) I'm big on mtl rebuildable rtas...I just mentioned the nautilus because alot just like the convenience of drop ins and the nautilus always rated one of the best....honestly I don't understand why more don't rebuild, because it takes about the same time to thread in a new wick then it does a drop in coil....but until your able to just thread in a new wick that fast, there is a learning curve to every rta...wicking at first is the trickiest part, and getting the right density within the coil and the proper amounts in the channels does take some time to master. ..but once you figure it out, it is a snap...the coil is easy, once you make one, it can last for months, so you can spin up a few and your good for a year...plus a rebuildable rta provides a superior vape....you are mtl, right?

Cool. Thanks for the tips. It doesn't look that hard to do. I like to tinker anyways.

I don't know where you are in Denver, but Vapor Leaf in Lakewood had a good assortment of tanks and mods when I was in there over the summer. I got there early in the morning, and met a nice guy that seemed willing to talk about something other than Cloudz. By the time I left, other customers and staff were there and it was starting to get a bit foggy.

I've ordered from VapeShop located in Castle Rock, but never been in their store. If they are close, it might be worth a trip to see what the store is like and talk to the people. I've been happy with their mail order, and they will discount future orders if you make an account and keep buying from them.

My preferred tank is the Nautilus X with a 1.8 ohm coil. I'm pretty much MTL, but will use the Melo III from the Pico 75W mod kit when I want to subohm. The Nautilus X also has a quad flex survivor kit that allows you to make different styles of tanks out of the parts. The Nauti X is a love it/hate it tank from what I've seen here on ECF.

The Pico is a nice little mod that will let you do a range of watts, but limits you to the 22mm tank because of the battery cap.

Do you have any of your old gear that still works? It might be worth finding a flexible mod that you like and then a couple of different tanks to try both DTL and MTL vaping to see what works with your mood and juices. If you do start vaping more than smoking, you may find that your taste in juice changes as your body adjusts and heals from the smoking. You can always cut your higher mg juices with PG/VG if you need something with lower nic after a while.

Good luck with your journey.

I've moved down to Mobile Alabama since last I was on this forum almost 3 years ago. Didn't occur to me to update my info. Been so long since I was last in a shop in Denver I don't even remember the names of the places. I did find a place by my house yesterday I'm going to pop into and see what all they have. Looks like a pretty big place. Vapemosphere I think is the name. But the pico I am probably going to end up with. Nice and small.

That sounds like what my brother describes that he misses about smoking.

But, he tried the original subtank and couldn't handle it. What I finally found that made him happy is the Joyetech Ego One V2 tank with CLR coils. The only problem he has with it is that he gets enough vapor with it that he needs to adjust his percentages to reduce the throat hit.

I love, love, love the CLR coils! Enough vapor for a fair lung hit, but light enough for a MTL vaper too.

I'll give that a look. But yeah MTL is what I'm looking for mostly at least for now. DTL makes me hack like crazy even with the old ego and vivi tank that I dug around and found.

I would suggest missing out the middle man and jumping straight in with an alien and cloud beast tank. I played around with MTL for a couple of years and never found it very satisfying. Then tried DTL and it was great. Vape on

I may have to suck it up and go DTL but it makes me hack. MTL kinda works with the old gear I found. Juice is a bit stale but I've cut out probably a half a pack. So it's a small win I spoze.

You just need to find some 8's or 9's who like to smoke, bro.

Dekang? Dude, you're living in like 2013.

Do you like to "lung hit" (like smoking a doobster) or do you prefer a cigarette draw?

Doesn't bother me. I smoked 2 PAD for 20 years. I haven't touched a cig in years since I started vaping. In the early days it was hard because vape gear sucked, but in the past couple years it has become good enough that anyone should be able to be satisfied. Not every former smoker prefers mouth to lung. Lots of us are only satisfied with huge lung hits and clouds. So, again, it is going to depend on how you like to vape before any advice can be given. It sounds to me like you've used some crappy gear in the past.

But if I had to give advice I'd say buy a decent dual battery mod with a subohm tank like the Crown 3. Give that a shot and see if it satisfies you. If it's "too much" vapor and too much power (100-150 watt vaping), you can always move down to a smaller subohm tank or a MTL rebuildable.

Please don't if you want to keep your face intact.

Lmao! I'm not pretty enough to keep 8's and 9's coming on a regular basis to have that privilege. Dekang is cheap like I am. I had to actually search for it to even really find it. I've been on and off with the vaping for almost 10 years. I know the struggle back in the day. It is a lot different now. I never really used anything really crap. I started off with the cigalike that 711 had. It was actually not bad at all. About quit in one day with it til the rest of the withdrawls from the rest of the chemicals kicked in and caved. Then the joye 510 mega which worked good and i learned to drip with that but the carts kept dying. No shops around so i'd cave til more showed in the mail. Then the copper pipe mod I made was killer til the 510 connector died. Lost my other mech mod. I just need to have some will power now.

You have already gotten a lot of advice about hardware, so I won't chip in my two cents on that. However, here are a couple of things that have allowed me to reduce since August from 25/30 analogs per day to 2 per day.

1) Even when I lost control a couple of times, I still kept vaping. This helped me get back on track fast; my falls from the wagon never lasted more than 24/48 hrs.
2) In mid-September I bought a small pocket notebook and began writing down the time of each cigarette before I lit up. This forced me to think about what I was doing. I realized that many cigarettes I smoked were completely mindless. I still write down the time of each cigarette to this day. But there are a lot fewer entries.
3) Psychologically, it has been easier for me to tell myself I am just reducing even if I eventually 'reduce' to zero. Everyone is different and a lot of members here will probably disagree with this one, but it is working for me.
4) Make sure you have enough nicotine in your juice.
5) Finally, I have found it helpful to visit ecf regularly and to post if I can think of anything relevant to say. Doing this helps me affirm my commitment.

In any event, don't give up!

That's a smart idea and I think that would be great for me to jot down and keep track. I don't know if I will ever go zero nic at this point anyways.

Sorry I haven't updated my thread. I appreaciate all the advice. Been a little busy with Christmas and all.

I'm going to pop into a shop I noticed by my house today and see if they can get within about 10 dollars of what I want. Otherwise I'll order it all tonight and hopefully next week be smoking a lot less.

IF the shop can't help me then I'm going with the pico 75w mod and the simba tank. The Lemo 2 tank is also tempting. Paired with a few sony (most likely if not lg) imr batteries.

try a mtl device w salt based juices. works like a ....ing charm. personally I love the aspire breeze w 30mg salt juice. I use it at work and it's great, 3 rips and I'm good to go. I use a rda at home and love it but still usually end a sesh w a couple salt rips. it just works, it's instant and feels just like a cig.

Third is probably the most important as to why I can vape and be mostly happy but it's not 100 percent satisfying. I apologize if this makes anyone wanna light up. If i'm smoking and deep in thought or whatever, I can take a drag, inhale fairly deeply, hold it for a hot second, exhale slowly. feeling and seeing the smoke leaving my lungs. That's the dragon I'm chasing. Is there a better way to replicate that? The exhale is what does it for me. Sucking on the pv forever doesn't make the outcome worthwhile. I just feel like I'm exhaling in a hot shower. Too watery if that makes sense.

First off. I’ve heard of horrors using trustfires. Get rid of ‘em.
Get some Sony vtc6 for your mtl imo. They aren’t free but cheap enough for the piece of mind.

Only read your op and it sounds as if you want mtl which I love. 3 years (on nu years day) and i specifically vape mtl.
I love my mechs but because I spent too much money on it, I’m using a kfun lite 5 pawns with my VS rdna 60 at 11 watts. This build is 1.2 and that’s how I build on my mechs.

My thoughts don’t run so deep but other than that I love a vape just how you explained.
Get a specific mtl device, not one that’s capable of both (apparently).
I started with my nautilus mini and it’s the dogs :censored:!
I haven’t used the nautilus 2 but I think the mini looks better anyway.

Mtl all the way baby!

I’ve gone through every flavour and vape tobacco. I make my own using net concentrate but you can get yourself some black note tobacco premade which is also net and lovely.

It isn't easy (for me) but I think i can do it finally.

You can do it. Aside from the nic addiction, the major part of quitting smoking is "What do I do with my hands now that I don't smoke anymore?". Vaping replaces that activity AND the nicotine in whatever level you need for satisfaction.

Start out with a high nic juice that gives you the nic you need and then after a while, begin to taper down to a lower level if you decide you want to. Most people start at 24mg or 18mg nicotine strength.

It was the hand to mouth inhale and exhale that had me hooked. I quit cold turkey once for two years and never stopped thinking about smoking a cigarette. I started smoking again during a stressful time in my life. Vaping fixed that issue immediately and let me quit without wanting a cig. It's been almost 8 years now since I even thought about a cig.

Keep in mind that every cig you don't smoke is a win. Don't stress the ones you do smoke. For some it takes awhile. Let us know what you gear and juice you end up with.

Yes it is. I did pick up a kanger mod last night. I've cut out a half a pack already at least.

I've ever heard of salt based juice. I'l have to check that out. I've been able to do my or stl with my new setup. Not hacking my face off with dtl.

The old juice I still have is 11mg and 18mg majority pg with one 60% vg. This new sub mini c tank I got is too powerful to load that and not get a big headache. The 6mg majority by is working good for me.

It's not quite so much as what I do with my hands as it's I'm smoking pretty much when I'm doing anything. From fishing to digging a hole, to even rewiring my guitars. I like to tinker so idle hands doesn't happen much with me. Not just having a smoke hanging out my mouth to puff on while I tinker/work is difficult behavior for me to change I've noticed.

I totally agree, the physical acts are definitely a big part of the problem. Using the early 510 cig-a-likes to quit I had to stop from flicking them out the car window.

As I was just explaining in the above reply, yes that is a challenge to alter. And I've almost done the same thing with a cig alike trying to flick it out the window. I'v been considering grabbing a couple small cigs a likes that I can just leave in my mouth to puff on or have between my fingers when I'm doing stuff. A mod doesn't leave both my hands mostly free which I do find to be an annoyance.

Well I went to the shop yesterday. Nice place but they were still pretty high on their stuff. Guy sent me down the street to another shop.

Actually a head shop with a lot of vaping gear. Nice guy helped me out I think the owner. Kanger subox mini c 50 watt kit, LG batt and a 15ml bottle of this space jam Pluto flavored 6mg juice. He did give me a bit of a deal which was really nice.

I still could have done quite a bit cheaper online but I would have spent the difference (if not more) waiting for the mail so i grabbed it. Rather give my money to a local shop than Winston or Camel.

I'm really liking my new pv a lot. DTL with this juice isn't bad at all. Blows a good cloud. Juice is a little icky sweet for me but if I drop a few drops of my desert ship in the tank, it cuts it a lot and has grown on me. Pretty much watermelon. But it has a hint of almost bubble gum or even cotton candy. Guy just grabbed it and said try it so I bought it.

The tank has grown on me but I'm going to order a different one. When guy was showing me how to use it , I thought it had adjustable air flow but it doesn't. It's just a juice control. It is a hay burner though at 30 watts. I don't mind it being airy but it's
way too noisy for my taste. Tank also doesn't fire immediately. My old 2.5 ohm vivi nova that I've been using as well for my pg juice fires immediately at 7 watts. Pretty tight draw and not noisy which I really like.

So far, overall, I'm happy. I've only went through about 3/4 of a pack of cigarettes. Normally I'd have gone through almost 2 packs if not opening a 3rd so it's cut out a lot already.

Tank also doesn't fire immediately. My old 2.5
May not be the coil. Some mod have a fire lag. The Kanger Subtank Mini or Toptank are great tanks. No jfc, they have af control and a good selection of coils. Space Jam juices are tasty but are coil killers. There are many good sales today and tomorrow, order some juices online.

Love to see you are having success at cutting down.
