Is 6v usb car adapter too high for the inline battery type passthrough?
What about the direct passthrough?

I just ordered a 4 port 6v usb adapter but the amperage wasn't given in the specs.

It may be a 1 amp total, which may mean 250 mA each, which is not enough for a PT. 6V may be too much for a straight-wire PT, and I'm not sure about a batt-box PT. I got a 5V 1 amp single-port USB for the car for about $5. I personally would stick with 5V to avoid batt rupture...one volt overvoltage is not good for batteries, and it might burn your atty out on the straight-wire PT.

Another expert can refute me if they like, but my thinking is stick to 5V, since the batt is about 4V.

To clarify, I see two problems here. One is that it is 4 ports, which if even if it was 5V might not give enough current per port to charge a batt-box PT well.

The other is the 6V issue, which may cause batt problems for a PT, or for the straightwire PT might burn out the atty, unless it is a high-voltage atty.

If you have a batt-box PT, try it. If the batt-box gets really hot, its too much voltage. If it doesn't charge well, its a current-sharing issue. PTs are not expensive, but when they fry they can tend to take the port with them.
