I never thought it would work. I'm 35 and have smoked analogs since my teen years. I was around 11 when I tried my first cig, that my best friend and I stole from her mom... As an adult, I was smoking anywhere from 1/2 to a full pack a day. Ugh. Sore chest lots of times, cardio exercise was difficult... I knew I had to quit.

I have tried the gum, the inhaler thingy, and cold turkey. Nothing has worked thus far, and I go back to the analogs within a day or two. The closest I came to quitting was in basic training. I didn't get a smoke break for 3 days, and I was so busy I didn't notice. When I got that break finally, I shouldn't have gone outside....

I received my kit 9 days ago, and those first two days, I only smoked 2 cigs, and then 1 cig, and then zero.

I don't want to vape forever, but I really enjoy it, and have not craved one cigarette. I started with 12mg. I plan to vape less, then step down to 6, and then hopefully nothing. I don't vape in places that I didn't smoke, because I don't want to add bad habits.

Now for all the happies: I detailed my car inside and out, as there were ashes and stink everywhere. It's so clean inside and feels like a brand new car again. Since I don't have to fumble with flame, I can vape with the top down, and not worry about burning myself, or worse, my leather.

My chest is not sore anymore. My throat gets a bit dry, but that's okay. I haven't done any cardio this week, so I don't know if that will be better.

I had terrible PMS when I made the switch, and my moods swings were no worse than normal.

I have much MUCH more energy.

I don't smell of cigarettes anymore. I was always self conscious of that, and would wash a hoody if I wore it for only an hour, just to get the stink off.

I'm sleeping great!

My teeth feel so much cleaner, and maybe it's my imagination, but they look a bit whiter.

I have lost 3.5 lbs this week. Maybe it's dehydration, maybe it's completely unrelated. But I'm not craving sweets anymore due to my yummy juices. Sweet things actually taste a bit too rich now... No matter why I lost it, I'll take it lol.

Thank you all for welcoming me into the community here. It seems there are a lot of awesome people. I have been lurking for the past couple of weeks, and so glad that I joined.

Congratulations!!! The road to tobacco free life gets better as the weeks go by. I've had a few episodes where I thought for sure I would fail, even having an analog in my mouth and the lighter lit, but I was able to resist at the last moment. It's the look on my kids faces and the encouragement from my still-hooked-on-analog wife that keep me going.

I think today is day 94 for me. Every major milestone I reach, I upgrade some of my gear.

Being a single full time dad my daughter has wanted me to stop smoking forever it seems. When I told her I was trying to quit and started vaping her eyes lit up and I knew then I could never go back to analogs. She makes me get on here daily to see my signature just to see how much I havent smoked lol.

Congrats, you need to make sure you hydrate a lot while vaping. Think of this, rather than worry about quitting vaping go to 0 nic. Then it becomes a weight loss aide. I've lost almost 40 lbs since Christmas and haven't had an analog since feb 26th.

Congrats!!!! Welcome to ECF.... If you think your feeling great at 7 days wait until you hit 6 months.:) You will totally hate the smell of cigarettes and wonder why you even started them in the first place. Remember drink plenty of water. I have been 100% analog free for 8 months but been vaping off and on for three years.

It's amazing what good parents do because of the reaction we get from our family. Be proud, Dad...You're doing it right!

Congratulation and making the switch! I love reading stories like these, when all the negativity in the media brings me down. It reminds me that we are part of the most significant health innovation in our lifetimes (so far).

Exactly! It's rather exciting being in the middle of this as it grows across the planet. One thing I've noticed is that when each new and improved device comes along, it generally is highly improved over the last one.

Other than curiosity or back-up devices, I don't think I'll need to buy much more than what I have now. I've found what works for me. However, I don't expect what works for me to work for others...that's why I'm so happy to see so many choices out there.
