So I sent my mum some juice about 6 months ago now. Would customs be even more strict right now if I was to send some? I label it essential oils and don't label the nic content on the bottles.

I'd say if you send her any you might want to send it in bottles that don't yanno scream ejuice. I have no idea what tools customs has access to for sniffing out nic.

This whole thing is just crazy. The whole fricken world is headed towards over governing. We'll wake up one day and be no more free than the Iraqis were under Sadam and wonder how it happened and then it will dawn on us that we asked for it or rather some of us did.

My suggestion is that any Aussies living in Queensland find a friend in another state to get it sent to, who can then forward it to you. This is only happening in Queensland. Mine comes in through NSW and I've never had a problem. In fact I just got another package today. Even if it is opened here, nothing is seized.

Just to clarify, this is only Queensland Health, so not a national law.

If people would stop ordering ridiculous quantities (I'm talking a litre at a time) in the name of stockpiling, or being total ....ers with their "it's not smoke, it's vapor, so I will use it here and fight for my right to vape on this bus / in this supermarket / in this restaurant", it wouldn't have even come to anyone's attention. I know people want to get the message out, but there's a right way and a wrong way to do it.

Yeah, I'm angry. It's the minority that ruin it for everyone, and they seriously pi$$ me off. I'm more angry at them than the authorities to be honest.

Makes me sooo bloody mad. Just look at the smug so called health professional (short haired chick) in the 9 news report and her complete ignorance, ill-informed, hypocrytical opinion. If she is sooooo 'ITS FOR THE CHILDREN, GOTTA SAVE THE CHILDREN" opinion, then why the hell didnt she get on the news years ago campaigning for ALL house hold cleaners, i.e , domestos, ajax, amonia, bleach to be illegal and banned. ????? HMMMMM . cause i sure as hell know if a child gets hold of amonia and drinks that they could be dead well and trully before 5mins.
Ohhhhh thats right.... cause ejuice dont get them tax dollars to campaign against smoking tobacco WHICH i may add they get from the govt's tobacco taxes and she would be out of a job and nothing reall to campaign agaisnt.... Ohhhh wait,, there was that report on australian kids have the WORSTE TEETH in the world at the moment due to soft drink consumption.... why dont they ban that??? or control it??? 4 cans per family per week,...... BLOODY HYPOCRYTES....

PLEASE FOLLOW THE LINKS AND VOICE YOUR PROTEST. EMAIL BOTH THE PREMIER OF QLD AND QLD HEALTH. With enough emails surely and hopefully they will look into this more closely instead of blindly. Tell them your succes story of quiting, and outrage at banning and enforcing fines on vapers , because one of their 2 big arguments is, their is no evidence to prove that electronic cigarettes help smokers quit and nicotine ejuice can kill children

Vaping should really just be about having an alternative to smoking. But I think it has shown us all how corrupt those in power are, and at the same time how gullible the general public can be, finally how propaganda is injected into our news.
That is a great summary of what I've learned, and I'll just add to that list that I also learned how incredibly naive I used to be.

I left Feedback, and I checked the "contact me" box. Here is the feedback I left:

I would like to respectfully voice my grievances with the ELiquid ban and subsequent up to $8000 penalty for being in possession of ELiquid.

1. It is true pure liquid Nicotine is a highly toxic poison. Eliquid on the other hand contains typically around 18-24mg volume of nicotine. Nicotine in these doses is not fatal per 10ml, however it would be careless to consume the product in a way it is not intended for use.
2. Most household cleaners are also fatal to children. Most insect repellents would almost certainly kill a child if induced. Yes these are products you can buy over the counter. The solution is education, and parents take full responsibility to keep dangerous substances out of reach of children. If Eliquid is considered a dangerous substance, how much more so is the average Mosquito or fly spray? Why do we not see these substances being banned?
3. If the Health Services are really concerned about the health of smokers, why not just ban all tobacco products? Why aren't more case studies being done to confirm that electronic cigarettes are a viable alternative to smoking? Why are the efforts of electronic cigarette users being sabotaged by illogical laws being passed that do not have the publics best interests at heart?
4. I am just one individual providing feedback, but I am shocked at how Queensland Health Service who should really be the good guys looking after the health of the general public, are yet to acknowledge the benefits of the electronic cigarette and rather than hinder the success of this viable smoking alternative, should really be standing behind it, and supporting these efforts.

Respectfully
....

I have also e-mailed fwiw:

Good day to you,

It has come to our attention (that is the worldwide vaping community) that you have instigated a fine for anyone in possession of e-liquid, the fluid containing a nicotine solution for the express use in e-cigarettes.

The reason seem to be that if Children drink it they will die.

I'm sure you're not stupid, so would respectfully request you investigate this matter further as if the prerequisite for banning a product is that it might be harmful to Children then you are setting a worrying precedent.

I'll not list all the household products that if ingested would be fatal but first on the list would be bleach.

'It is true pure liquid Nicotine is a highly toxic poison. Eliquid on the other hand contains typically around 18-24mg volume of nicotine. Nicotine in these doses is not fatal per 10ml, however it would be careless to consume the product in a way it is not intended for use.'

Please, please investigate this and if possible get one of your people to look at the ECF (Electronic Cigarette Forum) this has the factual information and not the 'knee jerk' reaction from the anti-smoking brigade.

NB.

Used paragraph verbatim that's in italics so thanks to poster.

I know what you mean. I went to bed angry after reading your initial post. Just horrible reporting all around. Even the BBC report about a month ago about the man who died from a lung condition at least briefly pretended to present the other side of the issue. This was just pure propaganda or pure ignorance from this news organization. Horrible. And I thought our journalism here was bad!

Have you ever read any of the reports of children ingesting cigarettes, nicorette gum or playing with the patches? Scary stuff! They can cause breathing problems, coma, convulsions, fainting, etc...

None of those even come with a child-proof cap... so, one could argue that nic juice is somewhat safer to leave laying around.

These bans are more about controlling people's behaviors than they are about safety.

it is definitely more about selective control. if it really had anything to do with kids we would have to register and go to classes ect just to be allowed to be parents since many accidents happen because of neglectful parents. Of course if they went that route it would solve to many other problems such as having 8 kids on welfare and still popping them out every 9 mo and reduce child abuse.

every one of my kids has understood the meaning of dangerous by the age they can comprehend language. just this week my oldest went on a 3 day school trip and I only sent enough medicine for those days in case some other kid somehow got into it the teacher would know exactly how many pills he had. I was explaining this to someone and my 8 yr old asked why anyone would mess with medicine they don't need bc he knows better. another example is when I mix my liquid sometimes even my 4 yr might ask to smell it but has never attempted to even touch a bottle but I have told all my kids even a drop could make them sick or kill them (it's an exaggeration but it gets the point across). I still take precautions but am comfortable that my kids know better.

Hmm...Pretty confusing. The doctor in the piece says that a 10ml bottle of "concentrated nicotine" could kill a child. Then the news reporter says that some carts contain 3 times that amount. I'm sure a 10ml bottle of concentrated pure nicotine could very well be very, very bad news for someone if they drank it. But they seem to be confusing "concentrated nicotine" with "e-liquid". Not sure what they're trying to say. Hopefully someone with better knowledge of e-liquids than I will step in here and try to figure this perlexing report out.

You're confused because you misheard, The Dr actually said that 10 mg of this liquid can kill a kid. So a cartridge can probably hold 3 times that. And 10 mg can be lethal to small children.

This is an EXCELLENT point! Gum especially has appeal to children, especially the nice flavored kind (you know, flavors being the thing antis are always saying is soooo bad?) Nicorette has up 4 mg. nicotine per piece; some kid pops 3 of those in his mouth and bam! According to the Australian government he/she is dead so why isn't Nicorette banned as well? Once again I smell the stink of Big Pharma all over this legislation.
