Australia and New Zealand is where I bought my Nic Gum because it was much cheaper than the states. Their goverment is all behind Nic gum sounds fishy to me.
The boiling frog. Put a frog in water where he can freely jump out at anytime. Slowly raise the temperature to boiling. The frog will stay in until he dies. By the time he realizes it's too hot, it's too late.
The authorities really don't know what to do with vaping. It is hard to ban because of its simplicity and they realize they won't be able to tax it that heavily like cigarettes. The only thing they can do is equate it to smoking (hogwash) and then try to kill both while the vaping movement is young. In essence, they kill off vaping while smoking continues by being able to endure as it is more entrenched. Just like the drug dealer, they are protecting their turf.
The only reason I'm so categorical about this is because I have heard too many extremely stupid reasons given for bans. Seems to me it would be much more believable and effective if they claimed some type of health issue. Small problem: They can't. As noted above, this would be in direct conflict with other, readily available, dangerous chemicals (including cigarettes) and there is simply no scientific evidence to back it up. Governments can't cope with the sudden meteoric rise of human consciousness and continue to rely on lies, misinformation and scare tactics. Their ultimate solution is economic ruin and unfortunately, war. This is what humanity has to show for itself after so many years?
If we had the power and organization to say that 100,000 vaping tourists would not be visiting Australia because of this, you would see a 180 degree turn in about 5 seconds and all their concerns about children guzzling 12 gallons of e-liquid would disappear miraculously.

I'm just 2 people that won't go there as a direct result of ejuice laws. I would love to go there (and we do travel). We will not go there while this law remains. Only 99,998 more to go.
Doesn't surprise me... Australia is ridiculous with their laws/views on drugs and other things they feel they need to overprotect their citizens from.

Seriously, as much as a ban is over the top, remember that nicotine is absorbed through skin. Kids don't need to drink the juice to get the nicotine intake. All it takes is to play with it. That is why, cigarettes, gums, patches...etc. come in child proof form (cigarettes through child resistant lighters or child resistant containers). And for the record, as a mother and semi-responsible adult, I am all for it. Even though, I ask my kid to open the container for me when it resists me (they are old enough!).
The technology to keep the stuff from hurting kids exists, let's use it.

True to a point. How many people leave their packet of smokes just laying around on a table? Sure the lighters are "child" proof, but the cigarette packet is not. You will constantly see packets of smokes laying around on tables, coffee tables etc.
Gum and lozenges I would not say are exactly child proof either and look more like candy to a child in fact, so how is that considered safe? I have kids. Do I leave my bottles of juice laying around for them to play with. Not a chance! have I left packets of smokes laying around when I was smoking. You betcha! I have had more packets of smokes eaten by my dogs than I care to think about.
Our government here is just too damn scared that vaping is going to vut into their HUGE tax profits, and the only thing that can come out with is a scare campaign to try to convince the rest of the population that allowing vaping will only lead to deadly consequences for us and our children.
For every media beatup or government statement, we can and have ripped it apart. Letters have been written to pretty much each and every government minister (I think about 115 at last count) and how many replies have we had? I believe about 15, of which all are cut and paste emails pointing us to a different government minister. It really is a joke, and the government is just scared as they know that this is happening, and they also know it is going to hurt them big time financially, and they also know that they have got stuff all chance of actually stopping it once it gets some real traction.

If they ban Nic juice, then they should also ban those nic liquid inhalers and gum available in chemists.
Think about it, nic gum is must more appealing to kids than strange clear juice that tastes terrible.
Nic shouldnt be banned altogether, they should just apply limitations:
1) The bottle must have a child proof cap.
2) Max nic concentration should be 36mg or 24mg
A 25 pack of ciggies costs almost $20 in Aus, probably $15 of that goes straight to the government. So you can see why they are worried about the spread of ecigs, they will lose millions of tax dollars a year. I guess money is much more important than health to the politicians/feds in Australia...

maybe they are afraid of a population implosion, i mean aren't 90% of the most deadly/poisonous snakes,spiders,well everything in australia? its amazing anybodys still alive there.

Yeah the small black widows with a red dot on the back, they love garages, sheds, basements, and other dark dry areas. I haven't seen one for years though.
True. The Government here are generally afraid of change and take a long time to introduce new technologies such as ecigs, its a 'better safe than sorry' attitude, but there is no way ecigs are worse than regular tobacco with it's 4000 chemicals. The earlier we introduce ecigs, the more lives we will save imo.
