To Much!!!! I can remember my father making my brother, 12 at the time, eat a whole pack of ciggerettes, because he caught him smoking. Didn't kill him, and come to think of it, it didn't stop him smoking. Though, those legislators are very misguided, at least they are showing everybody, they are earning thier money!

And they are opening up a great opportunity for those seeking a new smuggling career!:thumb:

OMG.... My heart goes out to all Aussies....

I thought the USA was .... and greedy about ecigs. What a lie that is being told! There is no way an infant would drink enough nic juice to die not unless there was something really wrong with the child ...that stuff burns!. If that's the case, the kid should be monitored 24/7 and the parent should be held solely responsible. This is another ploy from the tobacco-wacko companies & greedy taxing gov't's to do away with vaping to keep tobacco and the pharmas companies profitable at our demise.

About 20 years ago I attended a retail trade show. USA Cig companies were present and the rep told me about electronic cigs being test marketed and would be on the nationwide market soon. The following year when I saw the Rep I inquired about the ecig and was told the marketing failed because the electronic cig would get sooo hot it would fall in the vapers' lap and give them 3rd degree burns..... sooooo, the USA Cig companies banned the idea and embraced the NicPatch.

Fast forward to 2003 ..... the Chinese perfected the electronic cigarette (obviously done in secret before introducing to the world). Now that the Chinese have cornered the ecig market and with the arrival of ecigs in 2008 in US, the USA tobacco companies and Greedy States are scrambling like the KeyStone Cops to hold onto revenue. So, do they (gov't) really care about our well-being....??? Hell NO! Pharmas knew the PATCH would not work but the Chinese ecig does work and they can't have that happen...... too many lost dollars

It's time for a WORLD REVOLUTION concerning use of ecigs... I feel for you Aussie and had no idea your gov't is as greedy as ours. Keep the Faith.....

We all know is the govs forbid e cigs, becuz they will lose taxes.

Thats the irony. The Chinese government is centrally planed and they allow e cigs. Our supposedly liberal democratic society has a penchant for truth speak and tells us what ever it wants us to believe.

Advertising campaigns, taxpayer dollars, whatever it takes to change our minds.

In this country you would be better off telling people you are an armed robber than a drink driver afgter the success of that campaign. I hate to think what people will think of e cigs if they ever go to advertise about them.

Not seen anyone actually get fined yet. A bloke had the nic juice in an order seized last week and just got a letter about it. No fine or anything. Given the fine is around a grand for posession of Mary J, i doubt an 8k fine would stick in the courts.

I'm still not sure where the QLD Health ..... pulled 8k from in the legislation... Its also worth noting that this is one state...Queensland only who are taking any action, as yet no other states have seized goods or threatened anyone importing nic. So 8k fine in OZ is a bit misleading

Looks like a safe method for quitting smoking is going to be an expensive proposition for Aussies. Eventually, we will all be victims of those who want us to be safe from ourselves. In the US, it's common knowledge that fast food is causing us to be diabetic, overweight people with clogged arteries. Why don't we ban all food that causes this. Is it because large industries pay huge taxes?

Let's not allow the Ecig industry to get big enough to be a large contributor to the tax base. Then we can't afford to outlaw it or our tax base would be eroded.

I just posted this in the Canada forum...

We have to ban water immediately. its been proven to be fatal if used inappropriately Woman dies holding her wee for a Wii

I am going to start a petition against the use of water either for bathing or consumption because if used inappropriately can cause death. SAVE THE CHILDREN!!!!

Not to mention water gets in your mouth and you have to swallow it and stuff. what a hassle.

If you haven't already, please follow this link to the GetUp campaign ideas page and vote for them to lobby the government regarding the ban on nicotine possession.
E-Cigarettes getting addicts of the smokes - and Queenslands wants to ban them
GetUp is a major political lobbyist group here in Australia, and the more votes we can get, the better our chances are hat they will back us up on this. If you have facebook or twitter, you could also help by "liking" the link, or posting it to your wall etc.
Thank you!

Very Small population in OZ with a big anti cancer council that get their majority of funding from the ridiculously high tax on smokes and pay the executives huge salaries! God forbid some of the population may stop smoking and they loose their jobs through lack of funding!

This sounds like classic conflict of interest if that is how it is set up in Australia.

hey over there is Aussie Land I think what they are doing is so unfair. Kids can get hold of anything if not watched. Rat Poisen, beer Liquier out of the cabinet of the parents. Kids have to be watched. and to say or point fingers at nic as being the culprit is just bogus. I think the government is using this as just an excuse to try and ban e-cigs or anything associate with it. We have this fight constantly here in the USa. Fortunately there has been a little good news as the FDA is now going to regulate it asa tobacco product. but on the down side they will be sticking their noses in to see how everything is being run by companies and will probaly tax the heck out of it. Eight thousand dollars is a ridiculous fine I hope they ease up on you guys

I don't know if it matters about us USA people commenting and voting but I did and hope it may help in some little way.
I am shocked at the excessive fines for something like this and especially how many people can be affected in such a negative way that could be helped so much by ecigs.

I hope you all will be able to fight this kind of horrible control.

If they come to your house to seize your 'contraband' you should hand over your juice and also ask them to hold on for a moment. Then, go to each cabinet that contains household cleaners, any cans of aerosol spray/whipped cream, alcohol, matches, lighters, pillows, any choking hazards, batteries etc and ask them to please confiscate those items too, as they are known to be deadly when used improperly.

im sorry but to say that parents dont think about their kids with these things is just stupid. my husband and i hadnt even gotten our ecigs yet and were already thinking about getting a lockable box and placing it in the top cupboard with doors for our e-juice and cartridges. who doesnt think of these things.... yes we use other chemicals to clean our houses and yes kids have a chance of getting into them if they arnt supervised.

if the government is trying to convince people to give up smoking then this is the best way to do it. they just dont like the idea of losing their precious tax money....
its like that add, "because we care about your health." "HAHHAHHAAAHAHAH"

Thanks for the link. Have voted and commented.

I'm especially worried, as I put in an order from Tasy Vapor today. Fingers crossed it gets here OK.

We are being penalised based on the assumption that we lack the parenting skills to keep our own kids out of danger. It's an insult to all parents. Notwithstanding the infringment on our civil rights and the hypocracy of governments who obtain revenue form the sale of nicotine!!

You'd almost think someone at QLD Health has a vested interest to protect. Who's making the most noise there? Worth some research.

The whole ideas is really kind of stupid. As a 30/day smoker w/ 11mg juice... 1 drop on my tongue and burned like a first Skoal dip, if not worse.

There is NO way that a non-smoker could ingest nearly even 1ml of just 6ml juice without choking, let alone any other nic level. When it touched the moist tissues of the mouth it would be VERY uncomfortable the 1st second. Yet one reason Dekang has child-resistant bottles...

Sounds like big pharma' there is worse than here, but you have many things banned there that are available here in the US...

Gday

Just got off the phone with inlaws. Apparently on channel nine news tonight, there was a story about the Feds are now saying that if you import nicotine ejuice and get caught with it you will be fined $8000 per bottle. They said it is leathal to kids if they get hold of it and 10ml digested by a kid can kill them in 5 min... WTF....... This is the first real big negative ive heard about nic ejUICE. We can import non nic ejiuce though no worries. Any one heard anymore on this BULLDUST.?

Wow, they better ban bleach, windex, and drano too. Keeping your kid from ingesting poison has always been the parents resposibility. I don't see why the government has to step in here. I feel for those who are affected by this.
