901 Passthrough Performance

I recently got a usb passthrough for my 901. I find that it isnt consistant, and mos tthe time a full battery produces better vapor then the passthrough. From everything i read i thought that the passthrough produces a hit like a full battery all the time.
The hits seem to have more air and i can hear the air more with the passthrough. There is times it seems like its working great but its rare. I have to try normally harder then usual to pull a good hit.
I'm thinking it migth be getting inconsistant power. Has anyone had these types of issues?

Passthroughs are usually made by smaller factories with very poor quality control.

Contact your supplier for a replacement.

with the huge sales boost in short time of this whole industry,

the quality has very much suffered,
the quality has been sacrificed for quantity.8-o

there is no doubt that earlier products were and are
much better quality than the current stuff coming out.

thank goodness I bought my stock pile in the early days,
most of mine is of good quality.

I have USB's that are still working perfectly after 12 hours constant vaping per day for 5 months.
I don't think you would find any of those now a days.

I hhave a 901 passthrough I got from e-cigs.co.uk about 10 weeks ago. I've found it completely reliable BUT you need to keep the battery and atomiser contacts REALLY clean

I just got two of them in the last month. I found with both my USB Pass Throughs they produce the best vapor with a long slow drag.

Have you tried spraying you atti and battery with canned air down the battery connection holes? That worked wonders for my 801 when I needed to drag hard on them. The difference was amazing. I thought my batteries were ready for the bin just after 5 days and now they work a treat...like new.

The problem is probably not your pass-through but the power source. Computer usb power output is very "iffy" from one computer to another. If you get a usb wall adapter that is 5V-1A, you will have consistent good performance as long as the pass-through holds up. Here is the one I got and it works great:

I will try the air clean. I have tried on lots of different power sources. I use a iphone usb to wall adapter to use wall plug. I have used desktops and laptops. I have had good sessions using my computer at work, but also it has had bad times. The wall adapter has been very inconsistent. Is the iphone adapter alright for this use?

Look at the specs on your adapter. Is it 5V-1A? 1000mAh output is what you need. If it is only something like 500 mAh output you will have inconsistent performance.

Some of the inconsistency could also be with your atomizer. If it gets too dry (atomizer/cart), then you are going to get that burnt taste.

Though I was going crazy until I saw this thread... I also think there is a better hit from a battery when it is fully charged ... I am using the 901 pass-through attached to the Kensington power pack - Output = 5V / 1.50A.

However, I am doubting the quality of my passthrough ... It got to the point where I could not hold the ecig as it was heating up soooo much ... Opened up the passthrough and found a small section of exposed wires that must have been touching the outer casing heating it up - Bit of electrical tape fixed that !

Do all the passthroughs tend to be the same with respect to construction. Would any of you recommend 1 P/T over another with respect to what you actually have, what vendor and so on.

I'm looking to get P/T's for 801 and 901

All the ones I have seen are really cheaply made. Steve at puresmoker is coming up with a much better one frome the picture he posted yesterday. 2nd picture:

Definately excited when I saw his post last night! I just got the $ together for a SD but I'll be waiting on the Prodigy now.

As for existing P/T's appears your thoughts are that one is as good as another, so I'll probably just get one and make do for now.

It is 5V-1A but doesnt say how much MAH, and i have no idea if 5V-1A is good or bad. Electrical knowledge is something i lack

I'm no electical engineer either, but I saw posts on here that stated if it is 5V-1A that should be fine.
