Yep - that's all I did too. My PT has been going strong for about 4 months now with no issues. The very first one I bought (which I did not do this to) lasted two weeks.

I just sent one back for replacement to LiteCig - it lasted 3 days! Hope the replacement lasts longer!
I thought I'd add that I did that because I drop mine in a coffee cup to keep it upright when not in use. That due to having it in dripping configuration 100% of the time. For the car, stowing the thing upright isn't such a big deal since I'd be using cartos. However, I'd still want to to that as cupholders and consoles tend to get nasty in the bottom and I'd like to keep the mouth-end up in that case too.
