Actually I found this forum needing tech advice, over and over again. The people aspect came later as I got to know a few people on here and now I come back for the people. As a tech geek, I love tech. Computers, camera, A/C, stereo, high tech cars, and all the Apple stuff. That's never going to stop.

Please my friends, I am not trying to be condescending or Self-righteous.
It was with the best of intentions that I had created those 2 threads to honor Mr. Lik and Mr. Gilbert.
I thought it might be a nice thing to do, if these men were able to see several thousand personal messages of thanks from vapers all around the world. Such a thing might bring a smile to their faces or even a tear to these men's eyes, to know and to hear from so many and to have so many express their gratitude for their achievements.
But I really don't want to force anyone to do anything or have to shame people into it. This is something that came automatically for me once I learned of the history of E-cigs. It should be something that comes automatically and from ones heart. I personally believe these two men, Mr. Gilbert and especially Mr. Lik, have given me a new lease on life, and for me it would be dishonorable not to say thanks. It would be the least that I could do.
World vaping day is coming up, wouldn't it be a nice thing to deliver these messages of thanks to the widow of Mr. Gilbert, or his relatives, and to Mr. Hon Lik himself on that day? This was my hope, this was my dream. It is not a concern for myself, but a concern for these men whom I believe deserve our admiration and respect as father's or heroes of the vaping movement.

I'm new to the site, I came here looking for people like me, people who appreciate vaping and the
impact vaping has had on their lives. I feel that's exactly what I found! Yeah there's a lot about product but there's also a lot about people. It feels like a really good balance to me and so far I'm glad to have joined and I hope to be here for a long time.
I hope all of our voices together can impact how E-cigs are seen and treated around the world

Arnie, you did try to shame all of the participants in this forum, starting with the title of his thread, and by accusing everybody here of being more product oriented than people oriented. Without products there would be no vaping, no theory, no discussions, no DIY. Without products, the life saving aspects of the habit would be null, a vacuum, nonexistent.
Nonetheless, you had an excellent idea. I participated in the Hon Lik tribute. I hope more people will.

Indeed, that's traditional Norwegian food for you. That's gravlaks you're thinking of. Don't think it's that common for Christmas, tho. Lutefisk would be more common.

Edit: If respect and gratefulness is in order, it seems to me that the members of this board has done a whole lot of the developing the e-cig into what it is today.

I was really just talking about the entire vaping scene is general, as I have stated before, not specifically this forum or the people on here. There does seem to me a techie/product/vendor focus across all websites that I think sometimes we get obsessed with. I know it has happened to me as well. And my having OCD makes it even harder, because I can really get obessesed easily if I am not careful. But it's just my opinion and I certainly could be wrong. Indeed, the responses to this thread are starting to shift my perspective. And I am glad we are talking about it. It is worth talking about.

I saw Anthony Bourdain eat that shark thingy once on his show. Doubt he'll do it again

Yes. What could the person who first ate an artichoke possibly have been thinking? And really, when you think about it, how do we know anything is poisonous? Someone/thing must have eaten it at some point and died, while someone else was close enough to have made the connection.
In the Community and Lounge sections of this forum, you will find family and support type threads that have nothing or something to do with vaping. Whatever is needed for the person posting. We have lost two very fine men in the last year. One was 6 months ago and Hula managed to track down and find out he had passed away Very unexpectedly. The second one just passed away last week, after a very short time after being diagnosed terminal. Very inspirational and brave men.
There are a great many stories that can be told of people helping people. Those are two examples that I personally know and my heart still hurts over both of them being gone. They will never be forgotten since their presence is immortalized on ECF. I cherish the fact that before leaving this world, they both knew they were beloved members.
That, to me, IS what's important. The people that I have come to know and care for even though we have never met face to face. They are my friends and extended families, as are most of you posting in this thread and elsewhere.
