Thanks Morandir, glad i swap out a morning batt for a fresh one at lunch, when I work 'normal' hours at work.
Maybe that's why i still have a couple that work great at almost two years?
if I'm at home and I've been using a batt for a few hours ( xtra long autos ) I always try to switch it out for a fresh one and charge the one I was using.
Had too many older cars with battery issues, so I'm always thinking about that ;)

Overnight is ok Ms. SAG, it's when you leave them on for more than 12 hours they can start to degrade. Sacrificed an older batt with switch issues (had to press really hard to get him to work, he was 193 charges old so had a good life, and died in the name of science) to find that out. 12 hrs did some damage (15% loss), 36 killed him (stayed charged for five minutes).

Great research, very helpful. I was wondering about this myself the other day and debating about charging--the "when" and "how long" questions. I've also heard people talking about overnight full charges, when most batts are calling for 1.5-3 hr full body charging. Good to see you covered that as well lol.

Again, great to know this info. Thanks for posting it!

Thanks for taking the time to perform and post the results of your experiment Morandir. I have battery powered lawn care equipment and every manual instructs to recharge as soon as a drop in performance is noted (after letting the battery cool first). Even though these are nicads, I figured a person couldn't go too far wrong following the same principal and recharging vaping batteries as soon a drop in production is noticed, and so I have been following that procedure from day one. Thanks for providing the hard data to back up a hunch.

As a side note, it's still nice to have that light as a backup as sometimes I get so wrapped up in something while vaping that I don't notice the drop in vapor production.

Thanks again Morandir

It's truly been a pleasure to help. :) Depending on how I feel this weekend planning on doing another round of voltage testing on the stealths and king diamonds. The ones that have been part of the new tests group are nearing their 100th charge. Figured it would be nice to know if they hold up their higher voltage output long term.... :)

Morandir,

Thanks so much for this information. I had a 1300mah battery go .... up on me after a mere 2 months of vaping, if that, and wondered if it had anything to do with my charging habits. The question I have about your study is if it accounts for the amount of vaping within each charge. In other words, if group 2 went back to the charger after only 50% of the charge was drained, would that not account for about a 100% increase in the number of charges alone without regard to the effectiveness (or lack thereof) of the different charging practices? Is there any way to measure the amount of charge used once a noticeable drop in vapor was observed? I wonder if a better measure of effectiveness of charging would be number of puffs or vaping time rather than number of charges. If I were to vape for a maximum of 30 minutes between charges, I have to believe I could easily get 500 charges before it died (though I'm happy to be wrong), but does that necessarily mean that it is the best practice to improve the life of the battery? Know what I mean? What are your thoughts on this? Thanks.

MNG (sir or Ms.?) I'm testing that theory on a select group of batts as we speak (been working on it for about a month and a half), it's not ready yet, but will let you know the results when done. Avoiding deep cycling is the best practice, how far into the cycle is the question. As for the actual voltage output numbers and testing in intervals here's a link to a very large collection of just such info:

Hope this helps. :)
