Star Scientific have registered the trademark A.Cig, and as they are thought to be involved with research into anatabine, speculation is now taking place if this means they will bring out a similar NRT to CigRx (with yerba mate and anatabine). Who knows, they might even come out with a new A.Cig brand of e-cigarette or e-liquid with it in, sooner or later someone will put some or all of the WTAs (whole tobacco alkaloids) into e-liquid.
Anatabine is one of the three WTAs nornicotine, anatabine and anabasine that are thought to be active components of tobacco along with nicotine. Anatabine is being discussed for use as an anti-inflammatory for Alzheimers patients. Also, as it has a half life of 8 hours or more, like the nicotine metabolyte cotinine with a half life of 15 hours it can be used to determine if someone has smoked recently.
