And custom (beauty) carto tanks??
Anyone else here get into custom crafted tanks?
Are the glass artists gone now, or are the talents redirected??

Anyone remember those custom pyrex drip tips? Below is one of my favorites on a Vapage VMod bottom feeder mech. The vendor closed his website just before the FDA Deeming went into effect. Can you imagine paying $1000 for the FDA's application fee for every different tip produced? Glass blowing is not an exact skill and every tip is unique. The FDA forced this Mom & Pop artist out of business. :(

Remember the ”Thingy” for priming???
I remember the "Thingy". Anyone remember the Slap Yo Moma cartotank tool? Best cartotank tool ever invented.

I remember watching this lady on YouTube ...

For the most part, I really liked SteelJan's videos. However, I did get into a debate with her about her battery recommendations for vapers.

She told viewers they should only use protected ICR batteries in their mods. My thoughts were the newer "safer chemistry" unprotected IMR batteries were a safer/better option for vapers. I shared that I had a protected battery explode in my mech, and thereafter switched to unprotected IMR batteries. I couldn't convince her.

Over a period of time...maybe a year, protected batteries became known as obsolete for vaping in our community in favor of the safer chemistry unprotected IMR batteries. Small victory for me. ;)

Yeah... That was back when a "Mod" was really a Mod. LOL

Yes, a Dutch guy, his name is/was "knutselpeter" invented this. He had asthma and used his asthma inhaler to "knutsel" it together.
Knutsel mean tinkering.
I remember I had to order my e-cig from china, it broke within two days, $ 100.00 gone.

The unmitigated gall, how dare anyone argue with Badtitude about batteries. You've forgotten more than most people will ever learn.

Hey Badtitude since my resident battery expert is around, maybe you can chime in about this post I made on a forum in response to what someone said.

He said:
" If you vape at lower watts/volts you will save battery life on any battery."

I Replied:
"I've found that Vaping Sub Ohm around .20 at 18w on a 3 battery 3000mah (9000mah total) Samsung Bats set up I get less battery life then a .6 with 2100 mah battery on a Joyetech Penguin SE that I believe is around 50 Watts 4.2v System.

Joyetech has a description of the Atomizers and the higher the Ohms the more battery life.

My theory is that in the step down process my regular battery mods are not very efficient.

IE Low Volts, High Amps, Low Resistance, Low Watts, means short battery life. "

IMHO, in general terms, and all things being equal I agree with this statement.

Too many variables here to compare fairly. I'm not an expert on step down (buck) or step up (boost) regulation, and apparently not too many folks are:
Boost technology in a regulated mod; who can explain how it works ...

I rotate six Samsung30Q 3000mah 15A batteries. They were purchased from the same reputable vendor (IMR Batteries) at the same time. I have used them in three different regulated mods.

  • Wismec RX200 (3-batteries)
  • Segelei Fuschai 213 Plus (2-batteries)
  • JAC Vapour series B DNA75W (1-battery)
I vape at 30 watts in all three devices with the same tank. (Coil resistance is irrelevant in a regulated mod, but its a 0.5 ohm coil.)

I get a day's use of battery life in all three mods. One would think I'd get longer battery life with either the 2-battery or 3-battery mod. Not so.

The single variable of the three mods from what I can determine is the battery efficiency of the DNA regulating chipset.

LOL! Fond memories! SlapYoMoma knock-off came from Phiniac inside the tool kit they sold to accompany hand etched, custom tanks. I must have a few hiding somewhere. Wonderful little doohickey for changing cartos.
Nice photos. My little addon was the gecko not the frog.
Storage stock if I ever get desperate (cartos/tanks).

Should we consider “Vintage Vape Vault?” Museum?

Anyone have sharp ideas for what we should do with all our new old stock?

When my father died he had a drawer with old zippo's and ashtrays and assorted smoking paraphernalia. It occurs to me that when I die there will be 20 or 30 years worth of batteries, cartomizers, smileomizer, tanks and chargers. What comes around goes around.

My first vape in 2010 was a Joye 510 cig-a-like, followed shortly after with the eGo. Those made me kick cigarettes to the curb in short order.

I remember the condom fill method for 510 cartomizers! That was a great solution to the Drip, Drip, Drip method. I still have a few boxes of cartos. I filled one up not long ago to compare. Not bad, but it won't challenge my Kayfuns and newer attys.

I once owned a plastic box VV mod that used an 18350 battery. It was cute, but not really practical. Shortly after that I splurged for a Provari V2.

Many mods later I'm stocked up for the Vapocalypse.

My favorite these days is my Eleaf Invoke. Dual 18650, 220W, VW/TC that you can hide in your hand with a short 24mm atomizer. I vape that one at 10W and use it for long battery life.

I haven't posted in a long time, but I started vaping in 2008, and started posting here about the same time. This place was invaluable in learning what to look for. Started with 901s, I don't think the 510 even existed yet. Moved to the 801s for the bigger battery, and then ordered my first mod - the Screwdriver mod from England. I moved to dripping pretty quickly, and dripped for a long time. I skipped cartomizer tanks completely. Once the screwdriver started firing inconsistently I went through multiple mechanical modes, several from Super T, a Nemesis clone, etc...

Eventually I moved to tanks and regulated VW box mods, and I am currently waiting for a Uwell Nunchaku to come in the mail tomorrow. I am looking forward to moving back to the tube style, while still retaining the variable wattage setting.

I played around with temperature control, and other more advanced mods, but honestly, I prefer to keep it simple.

I thought about trying out some RTAs, but honestly my days of fiddling around with e-cigs are largely over, These days I just want something reliable that I know will work consistently without a lot of effort - and a spare just in case.

I have been using the Aspire Plato for a few years now. I like them, they are consistent, but they are beat to hell, and starting to leak, so I started looking for something new.

While I started vaping in 2008, I didn't actually stop smoking completely until 2011, but I am now 7 years smoke free. I have three unopened one liter bottles of 100m unflavored niquid from my freedom smokes in the fridge, and I dilute them down to 12m as needed - should last me a very long time - just in case.

It is amazing how far these devices have come in 10 years

    Welcome back!

You may not be posting. But, it looks like you're keeping up with the changes just fine.

    Congrats on 7 years!

The Nunchaku does look tempting! But, it's a little expensive considering I'm so well stocked already. Let us know how you like it.

Congrats to the old timers. I am fast approaching 9 years in December. I remember the first “Vapercon” in Fredericksburg, Va. I keep all my old vape gear I still have in a big tackle box and it’s mostly filled with genisis mods and other “high end” cottage industry mods from Europe and the US.

When subohm RBTAs and regulated mods became the rage, I sorta just drifted away from here but kept vaping using a RBTA of some sort. Occasionally visit ECF still, mostly lurking or responding to people looking for old vape gear I may let go. Even my son works in a vape shop that a friend of mine (that I met through ECF) started at the right time.

Recently discovered pods and nic salts, and sorta seems like another re/evolution coming full circle to cig-a-likes, but actually I like some of the offerings.
