Personally, I saw a person on the street puffing on a cigalike. I had never seen or heard about it before. So I began searching about it. Figured i'd give it a try to see how it was. Bought myself a pack of cigalikes and a 50ml bottle of cherry with 24mg. I used it until it broke off completely. I dropped by maybe 5 cigs a day. No intentions of quitting at the time.

Then I bought an evod starter kit, and I loved it. Bought a lot of flavors as well. Was a dual user for several months, and my SO telling me she was pregnant, was the little push I needed to get off. From that time, I only vaped.

Since summer, I've been mixing everything i vape by myself as well.

Lately, my evod's began to die off. So I bought another couple of tanks and a vw device. That was DoA and the tanks weren't that great either.

So I went on this forum to talk about it, how I almost got back to cigarettes. But after great support on my next device, and going from those evod kind of batteries and such, (and especially good help from @Katdarling and @DPLongo22 ) I bought an aerotank and Cool Fire IV. Could not be happier with my purchase.

Now, what's your story? :)

The only person I know well who also smoked told me about e-cigarettes (and ECF) way back at the end of 2011 (after I'd had surgery/radiotherapy), so I checked them out online and bought several rechargeable 510 cigalikes and some tobacco flavoured juice. Unfortunately they didn't work for me - I ended up back on the cigarettes (though cut down to about 4 or 5 a day) and the cigalikes ended up in the cupboard (where they still reside !)

Fast-forward to the end of 2013, I came back here to ECF, discovered how much things had moved on, got myself a couple of Innokin VV3s and the rest is history - coming up for 2 years smoke free next month :)

Me and a friend went to the store to pick up some smokes.. They had some CE4 ego kits on the counter, he's a lead singer in a band and thought he'd give it a try since smoking is horrible for your voice, he bought one for himself and bought me one so he didn't have to do it on his own, both ended up breaking them and we gave up on them although they did kinda work, few months later I decided to try it again and got another and have been vaping ever since..

Here's some of his older work.

I first saw ecigs mentioned in the early noughties but it was a concept not an actual product but it peaked my curiosity and put the idea in my head, fast forward to 2012 and I had forgotten about them was still heavily smoking and starting to have serious health issues because of smoking. I was browsing something on the net and one of the ad's was from jacvapour so I clicked saw what was available and ended up buying two kits one for me one for the wife. They arrived a week later and the day we got them was the last day we smoked, they weren't enough to keep us off tobacco but showed us that if we found better kit vaping would work. We evolved as most do to the ego\clearo where my wife still is and happy but I still needed more so moved onto vw and that finally was enough to keep me steady.

Because cigarettes were costing too much at $6plus a day.... So 1 day I decided to buy some E-juice an EGO1100 battery and a Protank. Just to see if I could make the switch. Had tried Cigalike a couple years before, they sucked. Well 1.33 years later, (July 2014) it's been 11 months without cigarettes. Now I have Upgraded a bit, But I have spent less than $300 on devices and I'm spending about $1 a day on DIY juice.

I rolled my own cigarettes, so it was never about cost for me.
I didn't know vaping existed until I was at the college waiting for a night class to start and I saw someone doing it. Started talking to them as I was smoking a cigarette and had my lip full of dip. I started researching it that night after I got home, ordered the next day and my path began to be smoke free.

I had to have 4 vertebrae in my neck fused 6 years back. The surgeon said he wouldn't do it unless I promised to quit smoking for 2 months beforehand and 3 months afterwards. According to him smoking specifically reduces the availability of oxygen to the spine. That messes up the healing process in the early stages, and supposedly the final outcome is affected.

Creeping paralysis is a powerful incentive. I got through the 5 months using cigalikes and patches and gum. I got the cigalikes at a supermarket kiosk. Then the kiosk closed and I found some equivalent cigalikes on the internet. They still sell them, E-lites. Messed around with cigalikes and gum for years. Off and on quitting, reduced level of smoking. The cigalikes took the edge off a bit but not enough for me.

Then my wife quit using Chantix. A few months later she was having trouble and starting to relapse. A friend showed her an Evod. I went to a local head shop to get her one and picked one up for myself. It worked for her right away. I got down from a pack a day to 3 or 4 a day for about a year. At some point I did some research and got a Sigelei and some Protanks and 24mg juice, and I quit without even noticing.

I love to read how different people got there. Everyone's story is different. I kind of envy the folks who picked up an ecig and quit smoking on the spot.

Some day soon some kind of cigalikes might be all that's available. They don't seem to work for most people. That's sad.

How did I get INTERESTED IN VAPING?

Some younger folk I know (that also have close contact with the public) had switched to vaping and they praised how much less expensive and smelly it was.

While I did not get started with anything in my photo, their praise of the benefits of vaping was enough for me to give it a serious go (along with the other 1/2 having a health issue about my smoking).

Had I not known people who successfully made the switch and liked it I'd likely be out on the back porch right now.

I wasn't interested in quitting a 36 year 3pad habit at all. I had a terrible bout with bronchitis and my Dr. suggested once again that I quit smoking. Nope not going to happen Doc., he said that if I would try a ecig he would purchase it for me. I declined, got a new prescription and left. That same afternoon when on a smoke break a co-worker was vaping. We talked and she offered it for me to try. I declined because I didn't really want to use her drip tip. She sensed that and got another tip. The throat hit and the clouds were there, and I thought this might work.
That was on Dec. 6, 2013, that same afternoon I smoked my last cigarette and have not had a drag of one since walking out of the vape shop. Fast approaching the 2 year mark not a sniffle since, I FEEL GREAT!!!!

Me and my GF quit smoking back in 2011....cold turkey.....but about 2 years later we started having a cig at parties...than on holidays...and 2 more years later we were back to smoking.
I did not like this development...so I started researching e-cigs, started on e-roll, but that didn't last long, so upgraded to evod and emow within 2 weeks....that did help us cut back, except on holidays where we still relapsed completely to smoking.
We upgraded once more, this time to Isticks and Nautilus, and this did it for me....completely hooked ever since and smoke free for about 4 months now......but I did come down with a serious case of shinyitus....I have now have moved on to Dicodes Dani extreme's, Xvosticks and Sx mini with Kabuki tanks and RTA's :D Also switched to DIY liquids....loving every minute of it!

2011 - disc golfing in winter. Met a guy on the course (that I didn't know) and saw him using disposable. I had no idea what he was actually using, and didn't care a whole lot until we were near end of the round and he's like, go ahead take a puff. I was eagerly interested, but expecting it to be tame. Turned out better than I anticipated. Taste was decent and my interest was piqued.

Picked up disposables myself for a couple weeks, turned a friend on to it, and we both were liking it. Then I did the research online, got me and the friend hooked up with refillable/rechargeable equipment.

Yada yada yada, still vaping same type of devices I did in 2011 and like the whole vaping experience, minus the detractors.

Try as I might I can't remember how I first heard about e-cigs. Hubby and I had talked about it and thought about giving it a try but kept putting it off. We were at the smoke shop one day picking up our normal weekly supply of smokes.

Ask and was told they had these little things by a company called nic-Stick. We bought 2 little set-ups (consisting of 2 tiny batteries, a charger, an atomizer and 3 cartridges). Mine with menthol and his with some kind of tobacco along with our normal 2 cartons of smokes. I never smoked those smokes.

And as has been said, the rest is history. I have been smoke free for 4 years now. Hubby didn't take to it as well but he has cut his smokes from 2 to 3 packs a day down to about 1/2 a pack. I call that a win.

I tried to quit a few times over the years with the cigalikes (unsuccessfully, I might add).

I happened to run across a video on YouTube one day that talked about vaping and it looked interesting.

I spent the better part of a weekend binge-watching vape-related videos and lurking this forum. I finally decided on two Ego C-twists and two Kanger PT2's along with a few e-liquid samples from a few different vendors.

12 hours after my package arrived I put out my last cigarette, and haven't looked back since. :vapor:

I was in a bar last year and these guys all had vaporizers and were blowing PLUMES of vaper!. I looked in amazement, and asked what it was and where to buy one! It took me over a year, but I finally went that store & got started. Its been 5 months and I am smoke free. Most of the bars near me allow vaping, its awesome! :toast:
