For the first few weeks of no analogs, I did really really well. I was able
to barrel my way through the initial first week cravings with my vaping
and everything seemed to be smooth sailing.

Now, fast forward to now. For the last few days, I've had the dumb mental
cravings starting to pop up again. I reach for a cig, and think, "oh yeah, I don't
smoke" and grab my eGo, and but still seem a bit unsatisfied again.

Now I know, if I smoked an analog:
1) I would definitely hate the flavor.
2) It won't satisfy me any longer - it's a mental thing right now.
3) I will hate hate hate the smell.

Still with this knowledge, I still have the mental urges and some small physical
ones also.

I'm going to be buying a eGo Twist and Vivi Nova with new fluids this week - to
try and counteract.

Anyone else have this issue? I feel like I'm going backwards instead of forward. :(

Not everyone can quit the cigs in one fell swoop. there are many members on here who smoked cigs and vaped simultaneously for months before giving up cigs all together (I am one).

we have been bashed over the head for years - quit all at once and just live with the consequences.
but you dont really have to take such an extreme view, I cant think of anything in life that is ever so clean cut as quitting cigarettes is made out to be. Most things in life are not do or die, and its not human nature to accomplish anything this way.

have a smoke if you really get the urge. You wont back slide into a full time smoker because you will realize how nasty and pointless it is.

most of all - look to the lighter side. no matter what you have still avoided smoking a whoping 1100+ cigarettes. WOW - really count your successes! Thats the important part.

I'm on day 13 and just starting to struggle with this kind of stuff. Like you said, the first few days even 10 days were smooth..but the last couple of days have been a real b*tch!:glare: I haven't caved in, and the smell is still a total turn off...luckily my Hubbie smokes so that is helping in some twisted way..lol..But, I'm not sure what's up with these cravings popping up suddenly. I just ordered some new juices..higher mg and different flavors, and some clearos, instead of cartos..hoping that will help improve flavor etc. Lets hang in there! Don't give up I know we can get through this! If you get my back...I'll get yours!!:D :toast:

Hi Cryene!
You are NOT going backward.
I'm one of those, too. It took me six months of both to finally switch entirely to vaping, and I've been smoke free for 2 months now - and I STILL have the periodic craving. What I do is just think that I'm not EVEN going to get into that again. I've got my last unopened pack in my car, and I'll be d*mned if I'm going to unwrap it. Dripping at night helps a little for me (it's more involved than just vaping from a clearo).
That said, "Have a smoke if you really get the urge" is not the way I would look at it (sorry, Zuzette), BUT, if you do break down, don't beat yourself up about it. Just keep vaping. :)
You can do it! You've got the hardest part behind you - and the support of everyone here. :)

It took 3 weeks for me to get over the cravings (mostly). And the thing that keeps me away...the smell. Stinks. Stinks more and more as time goes on.

Try going to the grocery store or standing in line somewhere and playing the "who's a smoker" game...by the smell of em. ;) Gets you thinking about what you were inhaling. Then imagine all the tars and crap that you "just didn't think about" before. Then imagine all the health problems associated with it. Really think about it.

Also, clean up all your old clothes and car and stuff. Notice how nice it smells.

Thanks everyone. I'm not planning on backsliding, and today is seeming
easier (for now anyway) then the last couple days.

I do absolutely hate the smell. And I was in the grocery store and a person
walked by me and I almost gagged, the stale smell of smoke was horrid.

I'll get some new flavors this week, and I'm sure it will help. Having you all
here to cheer everyone on is awesome too. Thank you - it means everything. :)

I have a friend I got into vaping and talked him through cravings one by one. At about 3 1/2 weeks he was concerned because he had a particularly bad craving... I told him to go smoke one. First he couldn't believe what I was saying... but I told him again to light a friggin cig. He did... and nearly puked 3 puffs in. The last 3-4 times I've tried to smoke one.... it just doesn't work anymore. I prefer the vape.

Keep up the good work OP & ValDaves. You discovered vaping & like it, that's the hard part. I'm over a year smokefree, after 45 + years of smoking. There are times, mostly early on, that I had cravings. I vaped them away & I distracted myself by playing a game on my computer, tooling around the internet & yes, even coming on ECF. I asked advice on here. I was given the same advice you were given. But, what freed me was that I was told that if I gave in to the craving & I smoked one, it wasn't a failure. It was a minor set back & not to count the cigs I smoked, only the ones I didn't. I never, never gave in. It freed me of all desire.

I've been vaping for about three months now and I still have the occasional analog every now and then. I don't feel bad when I do it because I know that I'm past how much I used to smoke before. It all takes time and we all will eventually quit for good! Cheers!

I'm a couple weeks in & just finding what works for me with a few analogs here & there. Still not bad
after smoking a PAD for nearly 30 years, just trying to figure out what nic level works for me. The 30-36
range is looking like the one & a KGO 1100 with a Vivi V3 Mega on the way.

I'm also researching some alternative ways to get those MAOIs that my body still craves.

At about 4 mos in I still had a few cravings for a real cig and I smoked it. I found that it's all in the mind. The cig tasted nasty and I had to prove it to myself. It really helps if you find an all day vape you like. Each time I tried smoking it got worse. The last one I tried I lit up up and said I can't do this anymore and since then no problems. I can smell them and be around smokers and have no desire for it. To me this is amazing since I smoked so many years. I don't think I could go back.

I had been solely vaping for about 3 months when the urge for a "real" cigarette hit me. I was totally obsessed with it so I finally had one. I took a couple of drags and stomped it out. It was really gross! I could also smell it on myself for hours. It just made me feel all that much better that I was truly an ex-smoker.

BTW I was a 3 pack a day smoker... crazy!
