Cute, but I've noticed that most noobs come in say Hi, ask about a starter kit they either bought or are considering, and usually get the right info they seek......
Hard to stop the rba sub ohm etc or the Provari crowd chiming in. ( yes I'm buying a Provari soon lol)

Question:
The OP is a very new vaper using a Twist and EVOD. He has juice samples coming and asked what would be the best way to try them out.
This a good answer: True or False
"I use a rebuildable atomizer and drip. You can get them for less than $10." (That was the entire post/no follow-up post)
Okay, look, folks.
It's like this. And it's really pretty simple.
We want to start vaping. That's where it begins. But we don't want to look like Big Stooopids on some internet forum, so we do our research on the companies' websites, think we have good information, get our products, then promptly find out they don't work for shyte and/or that "equal to one pack of cigarettes" really means "equal to that drag you used to sneak out the back door of work and then throw out onto the tarmac" or that we're spending waaaaaaaaay too much. So we progress to that forum we were so nervous about...where we are then told we're Big Stooopids for not having done our research.
Think about that one.
Call me crazy (you shan't be the first), but...the reason most people come onto internet forums of this type are to learn something, having been burned (yar, har...har...oh, never mind) by the research we've done so far, because, well...the very nature of a forum is that it's social. Correct? So...we figure people won't mind actually talking to us.
...And then we get an entire thread dedicated to us about what Big Stooopids we are.
Look. Everyone started somewhere. Correct? I know we're annoying. I know we set your teeth on edge. But honestly...we're just trying to figure out what the real deal is, what we should actually be doing, and then sit down and finally have a nice, smooth vape.
Although I joke about it, I know I'm not a ...... Want to engage in a history challenge? Grammar-off? Spelling bee? Archaelogical dig? I'm your woman. Want to talk vapes? Still learning. Period.
Now lay off while I go try to stuff this Kotex into my carto.
YOU ROCK CaliforniaGirl! Very well said.
Not until you've saved 15% on car insurance by switching to Geico!!!I stayed in a Holiday Inn Express last night, can I wrap a coil on my RBA now?
There's a couple of things at play here, that are a result of how this forum is designed and likely will never change.
1. It's hard for someone new to know which posters know what they're talking about. In most forums, this can usually be deduced by the number of posts a member has (but not always). Here, that information is irrelevant, because of the contest threads. A member can easily rack up 100 or more posts in one day in a guess the juice contest. In other forums, there's sections of the forum where posts don't add to the members post count. I think that would be very beneficial here, but doubt it will happen. As a result, you would have someone with 2000 posts (all from saying hello and guessing at contests) giving advice and the new member would consider it gospel, because the member with the opposing view only has 300 posts (but all good content).
2. Another means of determining who knows what they're talking about in other forums is looking at someone's "likes". Typically, if a member posts a beneficial and useful post, a few people will like it. A member with lots of likes generally knows what they're talking about. Again here, that's not the case. A member says "hello" in a post and receives 5 likes. He guesses "33" in a contest and gets a like. So, it's hard to weigh value with that system either. As a result, for new members it's a crap-shoot as to who knows what they're talking about.
3. There's too much posting and not enough reading by new members. Not sure how to correct this, but new members hurry up to try and get their minimum posts so they can then venture out and start posting (instead of reading). As a result, no research is being done. They ask a question (in a new thread) and act on the first response or two -whether or not it's accurate. On another forum, I belong to, new members have post minimums before certain things can be done (similar to here), but they're also limited to how many posts they can make per day. IMO, new members here should not be allowed to make more than 5 posts per day until they reach 20 posts. Then it should be a maximum of 10 posts per day until they get to 100. That would be anywhere between 2 weeks and 1 month of time. During that time, they could read and research as much as they wanted - which is what they need.
Keep in mind these thoughts are from a newbie to vaping, but not a newbie to forums and all the variations they bring. And for the record, I spend 90% of my time here reading, and maybe 10% posting. I also use the search function to find answers to questions before starting a new thread (as evidenced by the fact that I've only started 4 threads), and I read the full content of every thread before posting in it - rules I learned a long time ago in visiting/moderating forums.
Now lay off while I go try to stuff this Kotex into my carto.
This "road" is a public road, nobody will or should tell me that I cannot travel it regardless of what you think my level of knowledge is or perceived experience with vaping. Elitist control freaks need to understand some people know more about your tenured-position in this hobby than you do. Just makes me upset when I see negative posts against things that could be beneficial to everyone. Necessity is the mother of invention and I would hate to see people get discouraged by a community for being innovative.
Aha there's your problem, you're using a sanitary napkin! Instead you should be using a tampon as the string can be used to pull the material into your carto.![]()
I was on this forum long before I joined this forum.
I made a decision to quit smoking and started researching everything I could about vaping. People are so quick to say "search" but check this out...you'd be surprised how many Google searches pull up a gazillion threads right here on ECF that "might" be remotely related to your inquiry.
I've sat here and read entire posts--all 400+ replies only to discover that particular search was a waste of time and instead of providing answers, it provided more questions which lead to more searching which lead to more post here to read.
