If Rosa Parks had continued to sit at the back of the bus because it was the law at the time and it made people "uncomfortable" to sit beside people like Rosa, Rosa's grandchildren would still be sitting at the back of the bus.

And with that, I think this thread is complete. vaping rights have already been likened to the Jewish holocaust on here, it was only time until we started equating the state of a vaper with an oppressed black person pre Civil Rights legislation. I for one am sick of waking up in my own house to the sight of a burned, blackened e-cig effigy in my front yard. My uncle was lynched the other night because he was vaping outside. Can we go ahead and appropriate I Have A Dream for our cause, brothers and sisters?

Who the hell wants to sit in a Starbucks anyway? No matter how they redecorate them they are always different shades of brown. Most of the people that do sit in there bore me anyway.

I want quality people watching with my overpriced fru-fru latte. Instead, I go to the mom and pop coffee shops where the clientele is much more interesting to look at and believe it or not, strike up conversations with strangers. Mom and pop coffee shops are closer to allowing vaping in their shops before Starbucks ever will. Oh and small business coffee shops tend to have better coffee and food anyway.

Wow, you are kind of angry and nasty, aren't you? Seriously, if you studied the anti-smoker and now anti-vapor movement, you would understand that the principles behind it are a much more serious affront to our freedom to live our lives however the hell we want to live our lives than most people can fathom. So, you make jokes and try to be clever. Why? Recently, a South African chef was denied the right to continue to live in New Zealand where he had lived and worked for 6 years because he was too FAT. Last year and all of the years previously, he had no problems, but suddenly, now he is too FAT and presents a health risk. For that, he is being tossed out of the country. Smokers are denied jobs, housing, the right to foster children, etc. etc. simply for being smokers. If you cannot see that the future can also present those same basic rights to vapers, to overweight people, to drinkers, to those who do not exercise according to a prescribed plan, then you are either unable to see the big picture or just like to try being clever.

I won't go to starbucks because they tried to take smoking away from coffee. Vaping may be an exception or not, but if they don't want my business, then I'm not giving it to them. Same goes for any bar or coffee shop with the 20 foot rule. If smokers are completely excluded it's a bad scene anyways. I drive all the way across town just to not go to starbucks.
It's a shame that they get along fine without me:(
If I plan on kickin it at a coffee shop I dangle a buck above the tip jar and ask if I can smoke on the patio. If not. Good I just saved a buck.

Please tell that to my government because they came to they came to a different conclusion when they banned smoking in all private businesses and offices. The owners don't get to make that decision. Now they are trying to do the same thing with vaping.

You mean the same way they banned lead paint from being used, or asbestos?

Have they shown scientifically that lead paint or asbestos can cause harm?

Both lead paint and asbestos kill their workforce. I know very little about asbestos, but a moderate amount about paint. These days good oil paint is both expensive and hard to find now that mercury, cadmium and lead have been taken out of production. The neurotoxins associated with those poisons explain some of the erratic behavior in later years.
Now a days they mine that stuff and close up before anybody gets sick.

SFbrianT-My take on it is if you were to have a car running in your living room you would croak within hours. If you smoke in your living room you'll die decades later. The ban of outside smoking makes less sense as banning car exhaust.

We were talking about indoor bans.

BrianT-Starbucks has the 25 foot ban. Whole cities now have the 25 foot ban now. Even Berkley has a smoking ban in the "drug free zones" So when we talk about smoking bans indoors seems like a no brainer. Aside from home or private offices I don't have a problem with it.

Sorry about the misunderstanding btw.

EDIT:went back and read the context. Smoking in a private office should be up to the owners discression. In a perfect world.

I will make jokes and try to be clever, thanks. Here's an example:

Exterior, sunny afternoon. Close up on an 85yo black man, Martin, sipping a lemonade. Zooming out we discover him sitting on a park bench next to a 25 year old man, Steven. They have obviously been engaged in friendly conversation for awhile.

Martin: "...we couldn't use the same restrooms, couldn't go to the same schools, heck I got my head smashed in when I was 32 just for looking in a white woman's direction for a second. I....I lost...my father..."

Steven: "DUDE I know what you mean man. I was in a coffee shop the other day and pulled out my Provari, started to take a vape and this manager came over and asked me to stop. I was like BACK OFF ME MAN THIS AIN'T COMBUSTION BRO."

Pan close-up to Martin's face, utterly bewildered.

And scene.

Should open up a vaping lounge with a REAL coffee shop in it. That's the ticket.

That is the best idea ever...I think I'm gonna get to work on that.

And I'm only halfway joking about it. I want to open a business and if I could make it successful, I think you just gave me a winner. Don't worry, if it works I'll put your name on the sign somewhere...somewhere in the fine print. :p
