Exactly, you tell a friend, who tells another friend, who's friend tells a friend and pretty soon you, you have a whole lot of like minded friends saying " What's up?" and "Why exactly do you oppose our behavior?"

The old Alpha Beta Supermarket slogan!

Who cares. Remember back in the days when you smoked cigarettes and would have to wait till you were outside Starbucks to have a cigarette. Well, just do that... wait until your are outside Starbucks then vape. If you can't go a little while without your e-cig, then you have some problems haha.

Hey there Snoopy Fish, for what it's worth, I personally do not care THAT they did this, that is their right, I care that they more thank likely based it on misinformation or just plain lack of information. That is what bothers me the most about it.

I'm OK with establishments like Starbucks banning indoor vaping. Its a free country right? The business owner may decide.

As has been pointed out, when clouds of vapor are released, they contain nicotine. If I was a non-smoker / non-vaper I might not appreciate that, even though its orders of magnitude less offensive than smoke.

Where do you come up with such BS?? The studies I have read state there is virtually no nicotine in the vapor at all. With this kind of misinformation being spread by people who vape, it is no wonder so many people want to ban vaping.

To be totally and completely honest, I honestly feel that we are digging ourselves into a hole that we may not be able to climb out of. I personally have not tried aerating in a Starbucks and I won't because of the fact that when I smoked analogs I never whipped out a cigarette and tried smoking in one. Starbucks is a COFFEE shop. We should be lucky that there are even bars that allow us to use our PV's and don't make us conform to the non-smoking ban they've put in motion on real cigs. The way I feel about it is, we have a chance to do a lot of good and spread the information about our cause but it is flat out unreasonable for us to demand something that wasn't remotely possible when we used analogs. We wonder why so much is negatively said about our use of PV's but don't stop to take a look in the mirror and realize that pushing our choice on other people may not be the best way to get vaping seen as a ray of hope. I am proud to be an ecig user which is why I joined this forum but I can't agree with the "bans" we put in place on establishments that ask us to respect their decisions while giving them reasons to disrespect ours. Sincerely, Jeromiah Emanuel, Proud Ecig User.

No need to get bent out of shape wv2win, "Virtually" Yes, "None" is unfortunately Not the case. If we as Vapers hide from the facts that are presented then we are as guilty as those who abolish us blindly, because we ourselves are blind to the facts.

What strikes me is that we are all vapers, yet we are very quick to jump on and cannibalize each other like a pack of wild dogs when something is said that we do not like or agree with. I believe this to be unnecessary. So I do not condemn you for your opinion or disagreement. The bottom line is though that he is NOT in fact spreading "Misinformation" rather he is spreading a fact that we as vapers, (myself included), do not wish to accept. But accept it or not, the FACT remains that even though it is microscopic trace amounts, Nicotine is in fact present in the vapor we exhale.

The better alternative in this case is to take that fact and minimize it's impact rather than blow it out of proportion. When people throw the fact that there is nicotine present in the vaper I exhale I merely remind them that the amount of nicotine present is not at all harmful in any way because it is such a small amount that a Gas Chromagraphy scan can barely detect it.

This I have found from personal experience is much more effective than ranting about it not being there at all because that is in all reality, a lie.

Very well stated WyattDerp, I try to just state facts that I know to be true based on my personal experience. as I stated before I do not admonish the company, in fact all the talk about it made me go out and get my favorite Venti Mocha with 5 shots added and 2 pumps of white Mocha from my local Starbucks, and I had a very productive conversation with the Manager about the subject. He agrees, that the decision they made is premature and allowed me to vape while talking to him as long as I was not "Flamboyant" about it, and I respected that request and sneaked a vape in over coffee and a great conversation with a very reasonable person.

I think this kind of approach is best, rather than ranting and raving, I just try to educate.

Perception is reality. The manner in which you compare smoking in Starbucks to vaping in Starbucks basically states that vaping and smoking are the same thing. If we who vape explain to non-smokers and those uninformed about vaping, that it is basically the same as smoking, then it makes sense that vaping should be banned from any public area. Smoking was banned by establishments because it was harmful to non-smokers. Thus, if we follow your actions, we are in essence stating that vaping is harmful to those around us.

The "facts" are that nicotine in minuscual amounts is not harmful to anyone. Making statements, that infer others should be concerned about the amount of nicotine in vapor, is not being "factual" and that is what I was responding to. So no one is hiding from "facts" but objecting to "facts" being misrepresented as something they are not, i.e. dangerours. So you can come down from your hypocritical, high horse and stop misrepresenting my statements.

I agree with educating the uninformed. I don't agree with with "sneaking" a vape like a 7 year old. If an establishment does not allow vaping after being politely informed about the lack of any harm to others from vaping, I will take my money elsewell. I respect their right to ban vaping but I don't have to favor their establishment with my money.

I personally explain to non vapers and the uninformed using the following statement when I get the question, (and I get it every day), "What is the difference between that and smoking?"

My Answer to that:

"There is a very big difference between vaping and smoking, smoking burns tobacco creating a smoke which contains over 4000 known toxins, many of which are also known carcinogens, (cancer causing agents). Vaping however does not "Burn" anything, it merely warms a liquid to the point that it becomes vapor and I then inhale the vapor. Much like any vaporizer you use at home when you have cold or are congested. I then exhale the excess vapor which diffuses in the air much faster than smoke does and does not leave behind the pungent and foul aroma that cigarette smoke does. This allows me the same "Satisfaction" I get from smoking without the harmful side effects as far as has been proven thus far"

This statement is not only very well understood by everyone I have made it to, it is also factually correct and politely increases awareness to those who are unaware or uninformed.

I respect your opinion, I just to clarify do not by any means wish for people to even perceive smoking or vaping are in the same category. I am simply stating that being pushy and boycotting establishments that are just trying to do business because we feel we should be catered to because of OUR choice of nicotine is unfair. If I owned a business, I would expect people to respect the rules I've set in my establishment and enjoy my product not spread disdain over the fact that I'm trying to ensure that OTHER peoples feelings and emotion (i.e. non-smokers) are not upset as they have made the choice to not use nicotine in any form. As all people have the right to be happy, make sure we aren't imposing on others to get our gratification. I, for one, am not going to make a mockery of all the good that ecig usage has done for me by becoming an arrogant person who feels entitled to special treatment for doing something good for myself. Just think how you would feel if a person on a very strict diet demanded a restaurant stop carrying an item you may like because they feel that no one should eat that. That may not seem related but there are customers who shop and eat at Starbucks who would appreciate enjoying a coffee in peace without clouds of vapor in their view.

Well I did not say I was "Sneaking" a vape, LOL I merely stated that I was not being flamboyant about it. There is a huge difference between being subtle and being sneaky. What I mean is that I did not stretch my arm out really far brandishing my Provari and then make a spectacle of myself by blowing out a fog bank straight up in the air to boldly annouce "LOOK AT ME I AM VAPING!!!!!"

That is what the manager asked me not to do, which I never do anyways because it is childish to do so. I just vaped as I normally do and tried to keep the vapor spread to a minimum out of respect. I find no harm or foul in that practice.

Those of us who respectfully advocte and educate others about vaping are not arrogant or pushy about it. And I fully agree with respecting the decisions of the owner of an establishment if they ban vaping. But you are advocting that we must not only respect their decision but that we also respect the flawed reasoning behind it, that vaping and smoking are the same thing and should be viewed the same and thus we should continue to support that establishment with our patronage. That makes no sense and will just lead to vaping being looked at as being the same as smoking.

This just seems stupid to me. Who cares if Starbucks bans vaping or not. Either just don't go there or wait until you leave to vape. All this talk about educating non-smokers is ridiculous, if they don't smoke why would they care about the differences in vaping and smoking anyway and why should they?

Because the majority of people do not smoke and are easily influenced by the anti-smoking zealots who want to ban vaping completely. If those who vape do not advocate and educate openly for vaping and how it is completely different than smoking, then you could find your right to vape completely gutted if not taken away. Are you not aware how close it was that the FDA was going to ban vaping completely and that thousands of dollars of vaping material shippments were seized and impounded?? There are a number of vaping business that went out of business because of the seizures.
