This just seems stupid to me. Who cares if Starbucks bans vaping or not. Either just don't go there or wait until you leave to vape. All this talk about educating non-smokers is ridiculous, if they don't smoke why would they care about the differences in vaping and smoking anyway and why should they?
Well..... let's see. Where to begin?
One of the main issues is that we live in a society were a corporate decision made by "Starbucks" or "Walmart" will undoubtedly influence countless thousands. These countless thousands will never stop to wonder why they have allowed themselves to be "informed" by such establishments, much less the fact that it actually clearly signals that they have hit complete, utter and absolute rock bottom.
Therefore, while the fact that this appears asinine to you does speak volumes, it neglects the "headline" factor, the ease with which bans can be passed as a result of the extra support and how much it diminishes your opinion.
Long story short: It may be a lot of things but stupid is not one of them.
Yeah but the more attention that vaping gets the more likely the FDA and big tobacco are going to want to control it. I think the farther under the radar it is the better. I just don't think that shoving it in peoples faces is going to help anything.
They are already hellbent on the control issue.
This is about hurdles and barriers. You have established companies/industries with governmental involvement. Many times this involvement goes so far as to deceptively cast a dark shadow on an industry so as to ensure long term viability. It also closely controls where the profits go.
For example, big tobacco is presented as the devil. Yet, cigarettes are being sold by the millions. Hypothetically speaking, try to start a company that manufactures cigarettes. Let's see how far you'll get.
Vaping has been under the radar for years. It has now "come of age". The crux of the matter here is that (unfortunate as this may be) nothing will really be accomplished with facts and the truth.
Therefore, you chose to go "underground" with vaping. Others choose the high ground and attempt to explain, educate etc.
Ultimately it is whatever Starbucks says that matters. :-(
