I know this might piss some people off, but a fair study was done, and found that on high voltage tanks and MOD's produce high levels of formaldehyde

Spreading fear and confusion with misleading formaldehyde studies « The counterfactual

Formaldehyde is created when organic compounds are burned. When coils are properly wicked, with constant saturation of the wicks, formaldehyde is not created.

Pears have formaldehyde in them and grapes produce cyanide. ^^^^^^^^^This right here:thumbs:
Those are all organic compounds, coming from organic things! That's what we expect lol. The biggest gripe I have with the article linked is it over simplifies the science and doesn't actually state the relative concentrations.... or actually link the article. Voltage does not determine heat. Watts don't even determine heat, although they're part of the equation. Only temperature matters.

yeah this was quite irritating for me as well, i perused through the article expecting something in depth, like temperature and power, yet all they mention is voltages that only range from like 3v-4v

And don't mention resistance of the coil. there are so many things that just aren't even close to drawing an accurate picture. I don't like the bits I see though lol.

It is a fact that heating VG to high temperatures will produce formaldehyde. That cannot be disputed. So I will take the safer course and keep vaping very pleasurably at the lower wattages.
time will tell on the truth of such studies and yes that study was badly flawed.
I've got a sneaking suspicion that the only real way to prevent dry hits of any kind and subsequent formaldehyde production is 100% accurate temperature control. Time will tell, and you're definitely running a greater risk pushing more watts through your coil.
