A visit to the dental hygienist!

Today I visited a new hygienist, and although it was a periodontist who suggested e-cigs to me, I was still interested in what the hygienist might say about my gum health at three months into vaping.

I played it cool, and didn't volunteer information up front, but rather bided my time and waited...she made no comment. So I eventually had to ask: I asked if my gums looked like a smokers gums. Nope; it seems that I have nice healthy bright pink gums, and that if I hadn't have told her, she "wouldn't have know that I was a smoker." I let her off of the "smoker" comment.

I can't wait to go back to the dentist

I have been seeing the same dentist/hygienist for 10-15 yrs every 6 months and the hygienist always gets on me for the smoking

I think I'm going back in April so I'm sure she'll see an improvement

Hola. She said more actually. She was telling me that she had worked with a periodontist in the past, and that he maintained that for a lot of older smokers the damage was done at the very start of their smoking life when cigarettes didn't have such stringent quality control. Like my periodontist, she also maintained that gum damage was not due to nicotine, but rather the chemical brew and heat. I'm a bit obsessed with smoking Vs vaping wrt gum health you see, as I have/had gum disease. This is all very interesting stuff to me.

Anyway, whatever the past, it's nice to know that rather than damaging my gums any further, the vaping seems not to harm them, but rather allows them to heal up nicely.
