Since our president admits to smoking maybe one of the E-cig companies should send him a really nice one to try. Wouldn't that be great to have the president on our side!

I heard he was given one already. I am sure he either discarded it or hides in the shadows to vape for the very reasons the FDA wants it banned. And I am talking about the real reason, doubt they would try and bull.... the president.

:53 "It's not FDA approved so, what other chemicals are being put in it? We have no idea." I'm not even going to go into what is wrong with what she said and how she said it.

Why doesn't the news actually research the stories they report? I've got a great idea . . . fire anybody who doesn't make a real story. All the network stations are becoming entertainment news. This is sad because a true reporter is only supposed to report what is happening, without any spin. Isn't it actually against federal law for a reporter spin a story with one side or the other?

This is why I suggested that we use the media. We need to provide them with the FACTS, the studies, the proofs and then CHALLENGE them to take a step further and bring it to the public at large.
We've all been trying to do that for a long time now, so far nothing is working.

We've all been trying to do that for a long time now,
so far nothing is working.

We don't know how to use the media!

We think using the media... Somehow means we write dry factual media filled with references
designed to rebuttal opposition. Articles that impress us (political advocates).

These dry factual productions have a purpose and appeal to a certain (small and influential)
segment of the population.

If the target audience is the general public... The personality should be Fun and informative
making light of those spreading lies and misinformation by quoting facts (in a joking and
sarcastic manner) and throw in short success stories. An enjoyable read.

The public at large couldn't care less about old-fashioned investigative news reporting.
They are into soap opera news and that is why we have soap opera news!

There are reasons why some E-cig companies are very successful moving the product
in the face of all the lies and misinformation.

We should start thinking outside the box (that we put ourselves in to)

Food for thought

Yep. We need to 'sex it up' as they say nowadays.

But I'm not sure what could be sexier than giving up smoking. I thought that was pretty damn sexy myself!

The problem is that no matter what we write or how we write it, the mainstream media doesn't pick up the stories. How do we "jazz it up?" Talk about how it's changing lives? People just get confused and say, "if you want to quit use FDA-approved products then." You want to have your cake and eat it too? You're a pathetic addict. It's all about government and corporate greed? You're a bunch of crazy conspiracy loons.

Smokers have been so misrepresented, misunderstood and vilified, along with nicotine use, that there is no sympathy or empathy whatsoever anymore. And as evidenced in another news story thread, when the discussion should be about how we are no longer smoking, it's changed to being about addiction. So long as we continue to use something seen as addictive, it doesn't matter if it's "safer" or even if it's 100% safe. We're "addicts" and that is "bad."

Kristin then we need to point out that everyone is addicted to something, We have to show that the need for a morning coffee is because of an addiction. We have to start showing that we are seriously no different than anyone else, and we seriously need to start showing how the government has already proven that, once they get a foot hold with something it will just move on to the next thing. I have been thinking about this for a while, and I wish my grammar in writing was better. We need to show all the things that the government has taken away with false claims that were later proven untrue. But we have to do it in a way that is not accusing them of doing it because of money, or corruption.

For get about why they are doing it, let the readers draw their own conclusions, but show how they were wrong, and show that they are doing it. I know we have been with facts and science, but the truth is that most people do not care about facts, and or science, they care about fear. they play on it so should we.

For instance a video of Demolishion man, cut away is this what you want, a world where you seriously have nothing enjoyable, where everything you enjoy is being taken from you. Well its happening right now, in the last 20 years and show a list of all the things that have been Banned, and we have to find away to reach the people ourselves, since advertising is out, because well you can't show smoking and drinking in a good lite. This in it's self is there to protect the machine of our government and we have to find away to prove it with out being the nutcases.

I know I am rambling but I am getting fet up just like allot of you

I think we just don't have enough money to pay to get the attention we need.

And without the money, we are pretty much left with trying to pull some kind of media stunt to get some attention.
Barring that, all we have left is word of mouth, which is where we are right now.

That's about as far out of the box as I can think.

Like I said - write (or video) whatever you think will work, but if the mainstream media doesn't pick it up and get on your side, you're only preaching to the choir. The problem isn't so much having the right message, it's getting the message to the right people and getting those people on your side.

Mainstream media? The right people?
(That’s a box we put ourselves in)

The movement didn't get where it is today with millions of E-smokers
around the world because we relied on Mainstream media to publish
the truth or getting the right people to listen. Both are helpful when
fighting but neither are really that important to just get the truth out.

There's a heck of a lot more truth out there today than there was last year.
Little thanks to mainstream media and elected officials. I'm sure that's debatable.

One of the main reasons for the frustrations...today we (here) only fight
those opposing E-cigarettes and wrapped up with statistics and information
used in heads-up fights with those wishing to ban E-cigs. We have lost the
enthusiasm an enjoyment of networking the truth and making a positive
difference.

Making a difference includes more than just simply fighting one ban after
another and between fights review negative articles about E-cigarettes in
the News... Many of the articles are not even "mainstream media".

There are many things we can do to make a difference and regain
our lost enthusiasm.

Sometimes I think we take ourselves way too serious and limiting discussions
to negative articles and War is depressing. So... DA... We sometimes
get depressed and frustrated.

We don't get frustrated from having too much fun. Fun to us is sharing
good news and making a difference. Many of us are willing to fight for what
we believe in...However, all work and no play makes Jack and Jill DULL and
frustrated.

I sure hope so, and I'm all ears, because I'm out of ideas.

Your sig probably says a lot of what we should all be doing. Educate. Donate. Take action.

With the incredible amount of money we're all saving over analogs, we should try to remember to donate a little here and there. I'm guilty of often forgetting ><

The problem isn't so much having the right message, it's getting the message to the right people and getting those people on your side.

The channel cannot be duplicated.

The right people will not be on your side for the right reasons.

This is why nothing seems "right" anymore.

What if we turn the tables a bit here. It's always being drummed into the public's minds that smoking is the cause of 400,000+ deaths every year. Ok, so let's start making our statement that the FDA and the rest of the Alphabet Soup gang are responsible for 400,000+ deaths every year for having made it illegal for tobacco companies to tell the public that smokeless tobacco products are 95-99 percent safer to use than smoking and that they have known this for the past 30 years. By denying the smoking public the truth and giving them the oportunity to switch to a safer product, they are directly responsible for the deaths of millions of smokers over the past 30 years.
