So, I have some left over nicotine base I bought about 2yrs ago. It has been sitting on the shelf in my cabinet and had turned a bit yellow. I know that it can spoil, but my question is to the experts and experts only!! When is it not safe to use? This goes the same route as for the flavors I bought around the same time? I was thinking to just use them since they cost a little more than $150 in total...unless an expert or person with knowledgable facts on why I shouldn't use it...

I know some or most companies have to put experations on their product to be passed by fda and or for the costumer to return and purchase more after they expire.

So if you do the math.i bought it almost 2yrs ago. That being said the labels said discard after twelve months.that would mean I'm a year passed the expiration date..

Enlighten me please.....

About 2 years, as long as it's been stored in a cool, dark, place, should be fine, although as noted it may (will) have lost a bit of potency. The yellowing is likely standard oxidation, some of the nicotine changing to cotinine, not harmful.

As long as there is no obvious "off" smell I would have no qualms about using it, though I wouldn't let it sit for multiple more years.

I don't claim to be an expert, but have been doing DIY for about 18 months, am a techie though not a chemistry major. Kurt or kinabaloo (and several others) are true chem types, if they choose to chime in.

One of these kits is pretty decent if you want to see what the current mg/ml of your nic base is: http://www.ebay.com/itm/PG-VG-Nicot...139?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2ebb67903b
