Quite a few of the posts above are basically dealing with Pascal's wager... ( in brief that even though the existence of God cannot be determined through reason, a person should wager as though God exists, because so living has everything to gain, and nothing to lose).

Some of the other posts above are dealing with arguments from beauty. There is nothing about atheism or science which is contrary to appreciating or enjoying beauty in the universe (including the world) around us. On the contrary, an appreciation of beauty in the universe is often an important impetus behind people becoming scientists and, in some cases, atheists.

I came across this rather pithy and brief refute over Pascal's wager.

It also covers what you have to lose if you're a believer too over wasting valuable moments of your life worshipping etc.

Since there is no evidence for an after life. I'll get on with the vaping now...

If there was an evidence then all people would be good or they would pretent they are good. The dificult is to believe without evidence!!! Yes???

I'll get on with the vaping now too!!!

Wouldn't most people accept that horrors and good deeds have been performed by believers and non-believers alike throughout history?

Some are prepared to believe with no evidence otherwise we wouldn't see believers... Others obviously require evidence otherwise we wouldn't have atheists.

But some people stay atheists when they saw miracles and other are believers even if they see the opposite than they believe.

So this conversations never end. I am going to smoke again:lol::lol:

Not sure what miracles you are alluding to? But I'll take a leap and suggest that's because the atheists have seen that there were rational explanations for the supposed miracles?

It has been a bit of minor miracle that in this thread that there hasn't been any flaming and people have been able to debate this rather hot subject calmly...;)

It probably speaks good things of the GG family regardless of where they stand in this debate.

ha ha, yes its a miracle thread, no flames here. As for the miracles I can only say that there are things that no one can explain. But the atheists says that there is an explanation that we dont see now, or they say that in future we will have an explanation. Ok if we think that way then miracles will be never miracles or miracles will never believed. This is a stupid way to go I think

No need, you will have them perfect before any of us go!!.

But on the religion things, you are right you know. To believe without proof is the challenge of faith.

Not all are up to this challenge, some will get there someday. Each in his (or her) own time. nothing can change this. All knowledge comes from God, if HE doesn't will it, you will not have it.
