Advice for the best unit

Hello all,
I am pretty new to vaping. My son brought me a Blu disposable on fathers day (so I took it as a hint to stop analogues) When that ran out in like 4 hrs I went to AltSmoke and bought an Ego dual coil kit. It came with 2 650/900 mah batteries and 3 dual coil cartomizers + chargers. I went to a brick n mortar and bought a clearo (kanger tech T3S) these have a bottom coil that is replaceable and they seem to only last a few days. The wick only sticks out about 1/16" on each side. I would like to get a more professional kit that is not so moody. This kit I have seems to waste my juice, especially the carto's. All suggestions are welcome. I don't want a unit that is cumbersome and oversized to where it looks illegal walking and vaping

I would also like to see what suggestions are best. I have a BLU starter kit, that i've been using for about 7 months, but not only does it seem expensive, it doesn't really satisfy my cravings. I seem to go back to real cigarettes every 2 weeks or so. My question however, is what is the best setup for the best price. From what i've been reading the most efficient and cost effective units are the EGO units. (The Ego VIVI looks neat.) But there seems to be a lot of technicalities. (the 510 batteries, the 310, Ego, and flashlight batteries, the different "MAHs", Clearomizers, atomizers, etc.) Quite simply, i would like a good unit that will last me a good portion of the day battery and liquid wise, that doesn't require me to buy replacement parts every week. And more importantly, will it cost me $150? I would like to keep my budget under $100 to start out. I'm also with WyldRaider here, is there anything out there that doesn't look like i'm vaping a police baton? :p

Welcome to the ECF. It sounds like you're on the right track and the Spinners and EVODS mentioned above will definitely be a good next step. I am surprised you had so little luck with the dual coils and the T3S. These actually aren't bad choices. The T3S (and the EVOD) may need a little tinkering with the wick to get it just right. They typically have a little too much wick, which leads to dry hits, which then shortens the life of the head.

To WyldRaider:

Do you go to You Tube to watch tutorial demonstrations of the vape gear that you have? You can learn a lot from watching these. You will need to learn how to clean your clearomizer, and how to replace the heads.

The vape gear that you have should suit your purposes, you just need to learn how to maintain them. I have no issue of you trying different equipment, but if you don't learn how to maintain them you will be forever chasing the next untried delivery device.

Try searching Youtube with this... "kanger t3s cleaning". Lots of videos. I agree that the T3s should be fine for you. But, if you want more power either an Ego Twist or Spinner will give you variable voltage. This will allow you to dial in how hot the vapor gets for any given juice delivery device you put on it. The mah rating tells you the battery's capacity. It's usually said that for the average vaper, 100mah = 1hr vape time. This varies with the voltage used and the resistance (measured in ohms) of the juice delivery device, and how much you vape. But, it seems to be a good rule of thumb.

Try http://www.myvaporstore.com/Vision_Spinner_Joye_Ego_C_Twist_Combo_p/vvs-c.htm . Get the 1300mah Spinners and EVODs for cartomizers. You will be able to dial the vape you want.

^^^^This. It took me months to figure out this set-up for myself, but this (and variations on it) have kept me satisfied for coming up on a year. On one hand, I wish I had started with this set-up. On the other, I'm glad that I tried some other things first, so that I would know how happy with it I was when I got there! I would absolutely recommend this set-up for any relatively new vaper.

Well, I gotta "plus one" hvac's suggestion at: Spinner/Twist Combo. Doesn't have to be that kit, doesn't have to be that vendor but I do like the way MVS (MyVaporStore) pulls it together. Very good starter kit.

Also, very easy to use. Myself, I have Twist batteries, 1000mAh and use the "Vision eGo 2.0" clearomizers. Honestly? I just happen to like the "taper" at the end. It's purely that arbitrary. :) The Kanger EVOD is recommended a lot around here. I'm going to have to get one myself, see what the shouting is about. And I'll probably move to Spinners myself over time. You know, when I have to replace a battery. I'm in no rush. They're both good batteries.

The "mAh" thing is simply battery capacity. Higher is longer lasting. That's why Blu will drive you bonkers (I started with them, I feel your pain :D). They use, like, 90mAh batteries. That'd last me about three puffs. Oy. My Twists, I get around 4 to 6 hours out of a charge. Though, now, I'm a heavy vaper who's running at the higher end of the voltage scale so I'm sucking down the juice.

(Both Twists and Spinners allow you to adjust voltage by turning a knob and the end. Simple setting. And you'd do that just for personal taste. Some juices taste a bit different at different levels of "heat" so variable voltage devices let you adjust the temperature basically. It's literally just turning a little knob. No big deal.)

...is there anything out there that doesn't look like i'm vaping a police baton?

Twist/Spinner based kits are not that big actually. I wondered myself when I switched off Blu about the size. Just looking at pics, it's hard to tell. So I went to a vape shop in the city and asked to see one. They're roughly Sharpie sized. Ish. Had my PV in my top pocket once and my mom thought it was a pen. Asked, "Where's that vapor thing of yours?" :)

Yes, bigger that Blu but not police baton size. No. :)

And clearomizers (as they're called) do need some maintenance. Like cleaning. But it's not like every five minutes and it's not hard. Everything screws apart easily, no tools needed. You can get fancy about it but I literally rinse with warm water and let things air dry.

The little "coil heads" (aka "atomizer") do, eventually, go out since they do heat up repeatedly as you use them but they're pretty cheap. I get mine for $3 a pop. And I haven't replaced but, I think, two in the last three months maybe? I don't even keep track. It's not something that happens frequently. I bought a spare five pack and put it in the supply cabinet. Not sure how long back that was. Haven't ordered any new ones recently.

"Clearomizers", by the way, are called that because, heh, they're "clear" and they have the "atomizer" (the little heater) inside so "-mizer". So you get "clearomizer". Or "clearo" for short. Or you see some websites weirdly call them "cartomizers" which they are not. I don't know why this happens. MVS (MyVaporStore) says on their order page, "Cartomizer" but the menu is full of "clearomizers". If you find this confusing, it is only because it is confusing.

(Some confusion about terminology isn't you, it's the industry in general. Not all the terms are nailed down. This stuff is not just new, it's moving fast, and new stuff is arriving every day. And the terms are... slippery.)

I went through a Blu and one other kit before bumbling my way into a kit like the one MVS sells. I wish I had found their kit first and started with it. It's the kind of thing I now regard as a true "starter kit". You get your e-liquid, you squirt into the clearo, you screw the clearo on the battery, and away you go. Easy to use. Get extra clearos eventually, you can set up different flavors and then swap clearos much as you like. I have about seven different filled ones right now and switch flavors on a whim. Like now, it's banana time. :D

...an Ego dual coil kit....

Ooo. I'd never recommend somebody new jump right to dual coils. They burn battery power like crazy and you're talking hot vapor. I been vaping a bit now and still debating even trying a dual coil. Currently... no. Eventually... maybe.

The T3s are similar enough to the Evod that my comment should be relevant.

Evods are my daily vape tube. I love them. They're perfect. I like the vape much more than what Im getting from the Carto and Carto tanks I currently have. Thats not to say Cartos suck, no sir.. just that, for me, currently, I prefer the BCC type tank/clearo over Cartos.

    My tips:

Brand new, give them a quick rinse.

You should tank the bottom off and rinse the coil out and the tube out frequently. I have found that I can refill the tank once without rinsing before i start getting issues with wicking/gunking/burning etc etc.

If you're having wicking issues, there is a way to remove one of the wicks and possibly get better performance... on the Evods. Id guess the same could be done the T3s.

Yeah overall I jusy really like Kanger Evods. Theyre great. Bottom coil means gravity fed, much less issues with dry hits and wicking. Replaceable heads means easy to maintain. They're the same heads as the Kanger Pro Tanks, which, Is basically an Evods on steriods. Glass and Metal, more capacity, etc etc.

There is some other Bottom Coil Clearos out there I plan to try, but all in all, the Kanger Evods have been serving me very, very well. Ive got a whole ton of them, and ill probably buy more.

Mainly I would say you wont have enough power on an Ego Twist with a Dual Coil. Ive got a SMokteck Pyrex DCT in front of me filled with some butterscotch deliciousness, and inside the tank is a SMoktech XL Dual Coil Cartomizer. They call it, "low resistance", and yeah sure, it reads out to 1.6ohms, but remember there is two coils. Its almost sort kinda not exactly but similar to a 3ohm single coil. Ive been running the tank all day at 5.5-5.7volts.

But, and this is just me, I notice literally ZERO different in vape temp between this tank, and a regular old Boge Carto with a drip tip. The only time I notice a "warm vape", is If Im using my 510 Atty with short drip tip, and Im pulling really hard on it.

Just watched the cleaning tutorial and dry burning. I still have 2 dirty ones that I will try this method on and see if they come back to life. I may also look into buying a variable voltage battery. But if cleaning them works then I see no need for more volts. I guess my problem is just dirty coils n wicks. Thanks for all the replies.

Yeah given I haven't even figured out how to do the math on it, I ain't ready for it. :)

I have some Boge cartos and with a drip tip, can get a really warm--if not too hot--vape with them and a plain, cheap little VV pass through. In fact, I think overdoing that was what brought on my first (and fortunately only... so far) case of "vaper's tongue". So long as I'm not clear on what I'd get with "dual coil", I'm gonna go with what's working. I'm trucking along nicely with Twists and 2.4 ohm heads in my little Vision clearos and why mess with success?

Eventually I want to play around with some other hardware but, for now, I'm still goofing around with doing my own flavor mixes and that's enough experimenting for now. Also, I'm broke. :)
