so I’ve recently (this week) given vaping a go again, previous vaper like 3-4 years ago. It never worked well and I was never able fully to quit analogs.. change of heart and now here we are.

So I picked up a Blu disposable before I jumped into an EVOD again.. did not have a cig for 3 days, did well. No withdrawal symptoms and was using a 2.4% which lasted me a full 1.5 days. Great.. and this would be about par with analogs except I’m a blue box kinda gal, even sometimes silver. (Lights or Ultra lights)

Since that worked I went to my local shop and picked up a Ego AIO and 30mL bottle 3mg of liquid (per the guys rec, told me the highest he carried was 12mg but with how much I smoke and just starting did not recommend higher and so I was skeptical..) was ok the rest of the afternoon using the setup and nic until the morning. I went through half a tank within 2 hours, still craving. Got weird headed like foggy, anxious, racing heart ect. Waited and symptoms did not subside so I tried the Blu, symptoms went away.

Flash to next day. Went and picked up 6mg. Still same symptoms but did noticeably use less liquid and symptoms not as frequent but more intense but also not craving an analog. Still feeling a bit off and I guess I feel like I could be overdoing it but not totally convinced.

My local guy is a smuck apparently so I’m seeking advice or words of wisdom here because I want to quit for good. I also don’t want to pay an arm and a leg for disposables either.

2.4% = 24mg/ml, no wonder you had cravings!
That guy put you on 1/8 of what worked for you, then your nic level dropped and you chainvaped your brains out in consequence.
Either find a shop with sane personnel or order online.

If 2.4%(24mg/ml) nic is working for you then I'd stay with that until you perceive it to be too much, you can still go down later. First things first, staying off stinkies should be the top priority right now so things that enable that are the right things.

Welcome back. If you like using the AIO stick with the 6mg and if you feel the need to chain vape dilute with a few drops of the 3mg. Will take a bit to find your sweet spot. Much has changed the in the last several years as I'm sure you've noticed, you'll find your footing.

    Absolutely,
Id get as high as nicotine ejuice as you can - and vape it as much as you need to. I quit using 18mg, only just dropped down to 12mg now, 3 months later.

It doesn't matter if you are vaping 24/7 (tho its impressive if you can sleep & vape ;) ) quitting physically from ciggies is the hard part - so you wanna do all you can to make it easy

A foggy head and anxiety can be caused by nicotine withdrawal (although it can also be caused by other things, so if it persists, do see a doctor).

In case you're wondering, common symptoms of too much nicotine are dizziness, nausea and headache. They should go away within 20 minutes or so of your last vape. These symptoms show up long before you get enough nicotine to do any serious harm. As I understand it, it's actually fairly difficult (I don't think we know of any cases) to overdose on nicotine by vaping. Inhaled nicotine takes effect so quickly that you get uncomfortable and stop vaping well before you approach toxic levels. Eating or drinking nicotine is another matter, which is why it's important to keep ejuice away from kids and pets.

Like the others, I'd suggest that you try 12 mg/ml ejuice. That's half the concentration of your Blu, but even an EVOD will likely produce more vapour than a Blu so you probably don't need to go back up to 24 mg/ml.

If you're still concerned about getting too much nicotine, it might help to know that many people find cutting down on nicotine much easier once they've fully switched to vaping. I was never successful in even reducing my cigarette consumption, but once I'd been vaping for a while I dropped from 24 mg/ml to 3 mg/ml without any particular distress (I did do it slowly, but it was surprisingly easy).

Woah you guys are like lightening I did order another 6mg a few days ago because I find myself searching for the throat hit so got something reviewed as being a bit harsher. I also remember last time I did feel nauseated and got a headache but haven’t this time so I can only assume it’s probably not too much but too little. I do find myself taking in more in the AM and PM seems to be more out of habit more then anything. I’m going to give it a few more days at 6, if I need to I’ll vape more. Any other tips or tricks are definitely welcome.

Also side note, I never smoked menthols but had heard it’s sometimes easier to switch to vaping if you do menthol first so that’s what I did plus not a fan of sweeter juice.

Habit is a big part of smoking, vaping offers to change very little while stopping to inhale smoke. Do what you feel comfortable with and don't force anything.

Many new vapers don't like the idea of sweet flavors at first, some are even looking for that sweet sweet ashtray flavor. There's different flavors like florals, herbs or spices that only have the sweetness inherent in the base juice. Maybe thyme, lavender or sage is worth a try.
I'm pretty confident you'll sooner or later try a fruit that you just can't get enough of ;)

With menthol you gotta try - I personally can't stand menthol or "coolada", it messes up my taste. Others swear by it, there's vapers that only season their juice with menthol flavor.

Regarding TH (throat hit) - many commercial juices are now heavy on the VG side, or "max" VG. That gives bigger clouds, but less TH. Look for something at least 50/50 - although I mix mine at around 70 PG, 30 VG.

And nic "salts" are said to be smoother, i.e. LESS TH, so avoid those (for now, at least ;) )

For me, higher nic is what it took to make the switch. (Along with TH and flavors I liked!!) Satisfies the crave quicker than lower does, so you don't need to vape as long per session.

First week off cigs, I went to the vape shop, and asked for pure menthol juice. They had one called 'Blizzard'. I took this in 18mg strength, and mixed it in the tank with the other 'tobacco' flavor I was using. This is just what I needed. I was craving the menthol as much as the nicotine. I still like to fill up with a plain liquid, low nic, with some menthol concentrate drops in it, when I am watching tube, or reading or some other passive activity, where I would normally puff away unconsciously. If I didn't, I would start to get too much nicotine from chain vape. When I feel like I need a blast of nicotine, because of stress, or whatever, I just up the nic level for a while, and then go back to a lower level. Works for me.

Once you become accustomed to vaping, instead of smoking, you will probably be able to find a flavor that appeals to you. As time passes, you will come to enjoy the vape for itself, instead of only as a smoking substitute. Then you will much more easily lower your nicotine dose, as it will not be the overriding stimulation for your brain's pleasure centers.
At any rate, don't feel locked in to any nicotine strength. One of the big advantages of a refillable system, is the ability to customize. You can mix higher with lower to get medium, or switch from one to the other at various times in your day. You decide!
Stay with it. It gets easier.

Thank you guys for your advice! The one I’m using now is called double trouble and is probably higher in VG since the clouds on point but the hit not so much. When I went back to the shop the guy tried to tell me I probably needed a bigger device, mainly the $80 box mod . I’m definitely not there yet! I’m crossing my fingers I can find something that works for me so I can be done with cigs for good.

    Welcome and glad you joined.
Some B&M Vape shops have knowledgeable folks and most are not up to snuff. I have read (@rolygate)that it takes at least 2 years to get to know all the different types of equipment and types of vapers/vapes. You have gotten some good comments/advice above. In vaping, I've found its not so much what you spend initially on equipment, it's all about learning how to use your equipment effectively in a way that satisfies you.

I hope you are able to find a nic level that suits you, as well as juice. Really, it's about tailoring nic strength to the device.

However, if you've tended to vape MTL (not clouds of vapor to direct inhale) I'd probably suggest a smaller device, with a MTL tank (something like the Aspire Zelos kit that comes with a Nautilus 2 tank and is small (although not cigalike in shape) but easy going, reliable, and you'll have far more control over the vape you produce (it has 1.8 1.6 and 0.7 coils) you can vary wattage and airflow, and also nicotine level once you find your preferred wattage and vape quality). It has an internal battery, which may or may not be a plus, but it may be a good place to "move up" the vaping ladder so to speak, and a lot of folks have had success using this setup. It will be far less expensive than the Blu, overall, and certainly the pods. You'd also be able to try various eliquid and experiment with PG/VG ratio, nicotine strength, and etc.

I'd often recommend getting a "high" nicotine liquid and then a 0 nicotine liquid in the same flavor, so you can try mixing those together in various ratios to land on the right "mg/ml" for you.

Best of luck, I am a returning vaper who didn't really achieve success the first time around, but was able to do so this time. I'm glad you are back/ here and I hope some of the information provided will help you find success :) ! I wish you all the luck in the world. It's doable, it's hardest in the beginning, but just keep asking questions and trying things until more becomes clear.

Thank you! I’m going to go check that out and honestly I’ve caught myself doing both MTL and DTL but realize I do DTL when I’m really taking a haul and craving. I’ve done 6mg all day, and at the tail end of a 2ml fill from first thing this morning and everything seems ok for now and I didn’t find myself craving but am a stress smoker and I’ve stayed in bed binging Better Call Saul so not triggered here’s to hoping tomorrow at work goes smooth too.
