I vape some fruits and bakery flavors just for taste because I'm diabetic. I have a diabetic offline friend who has never smoked but vapes for flavor. In fact, their a culinary vaporizers on the market now that are used with straws and flavors for whole prepared dishes. They're big for parties. The flavorings of ejuices are the same ones used in foods and so is the vegetable glycerol. You don't need to inhale the vapor into your lungs to get the enjoyment of the real foods. So, if you're never smoked and are not looking to simulate that... just don't inhale. My Aunt smoked that way in fact as most cigar and pipe smokers do.

edit: oh, an there are many health/vitamin/herb shops on the net selling herbal juice preparations for vaporizers... some sell what is the same as an ecig but they don't call it that of course.

I so need to show this one to my boyfriend. He quit cold turkey about three years ago but he's an obese, insulin dependent diabetic that needs hernia surgery and can't lose weight...might be an idea to get him off all carbs... Bad ones anyway.

If your a grown up and you want to do it then I would say go for it, I'm not quite sure why you would if you weren't a smoker though. If you want to use it as an appetite suppressor guess what, it won't work. Go hit the gym and eat a more healthy diet. Its called willpower and it isn't that difficult, everyone's always looking for the easy way out these days...

If you read my responses you would know that appetite suppressing is NOT at all the reason I was doing this. I was curious about it so I asked, but it is not what I want it for. With that said, just because it does not suppress YOUR appetite, doesn't mean that its a proven scientific result. If you would have read other replies, a few people said it has help curb their appetite and kept them busy instead of snacking. Everyone is different. You also said you dont know why I would do this if I weren't a smoker and I explained that too.

I do crossfit 5 times week...I'm actually in really good shape, thanks for asking. And amazingly I have that easy thing you call willpower. I'm not looking for an easy way out of anything. Thank you for your presumptions and condescending words. Never fails on the internet.

My My, its a amazing how condescending us vapors can be sometimes! I am assuming you are a vapor? If so, I am sure it's not because you don't have the will power to put your PV down and walk away .... ;-)

IMO, if you want to get started, until you know what you want get a setup like this:
$12.74 EGO-EVOD 5-in-1 Rechargeable 1100mAh Electronic Cigarettes Set - single e-cigarette / black / 2.6

This will allow you to find what your looking for while getting started into the vaping world. You can buy replacement coils for it for a reasonable price(less than a couple bucks), or rebuild them yourself with the help of forums like this.

Once you know you like it you can find a nice mod that fits your needs. Take the time to think about your budget, what flavors you might like, and going through reviews on these products. It will make your life much easier to have some knowledge before you start spending a bunch on more advanced rigs.

Also, if you are not addicted to nicotine yet, try not to!! Get 0mg nicotine juice and do it for fun!!

Good luck! It only took me 5 days to go from 2 packs a day to 0 cigs with the help of forums like this one.

Lastly (this is probably the dumbest question) do any of the sweet liquids suppress your appetite and help you from grabbing a piece of cake? :unsure:I know nicotine has a appetite suppressing effect but like I said I would be looking for little to no nic.

The answer to the rest of your post is up to you. You're a grown-up. You have the right to make your own decisions.

But I can address this.
"It depends".
If you're a "taste" person, the flavors have the ability, given willpower, to help you not have that piece of cake.
If you're a "mouth feel" person, the flavors can give you an insatiable urge for the same food.

For example: If I vape my "Orange cream" I cannot overcome the urge for a piece of orange slice candy. Ya know, the gummie type that's covered in sugar crystals. Being diabetic, I need to be careful to stay away from these types of empty calories. So, although I love this flavor, it sets in my drawer, mocking me. (I do take it with me sometimes when I'm going to be out in wide open spaces with no chance of stopping...trail rides)

My "chocolate malt" does the same thing. I MUST HAVE a milky way bar. Now!

I am using sweetened unflavored at the moment, been using it a couple days. Strangely, my all day vape "Sugar cookie" does not make me want cookies. Perhaps it did in the beginning, (I've been on it most days, all day, for over 2 years now) and I just don't remember or have gotten used to it.

For a quick trial to see how it affects you, try this. (just google to find it near you, I didn't wanna post a vendor link) http://www.luxist.com/tag/Le+Whif/ and see if it makes you eat that candy bar or helps you stay away from it.

Just my advice, "worth what you paid for it"

(And yeah, I know..."mouth feel" but since I'm usually the one doing the ranchy post, fire away) :pervy:

I didn't know, after 58 years of doing it, that I often smoked insteadof eating. Its something I just never thought about but became aware of when I found myself chain vaping instead of the chain smoking I had done before. I think this is exactly why many smokers gain weight when they quite. So, yeh, of course I now vape instead of eating but am trying to cut down on that as well as not inhaling when I vape for hand-to-mouth or food flavor enjoyment and reserve inhaling for only when I would normally want to smoke. I'm not recommending vaping as a diet aide ... only that, for some, it will just naturally be that whether that's their intention or not. Geeez. But, as a diabetic, it is nice to be able to taste the "sinful" or life-threatening foods I can't safely eat. Its sure easier than trying to find or bake myself low-carb/low-fat versions of these treats.

Edit: BTW, one of what I mentioned earlier is "Le Whaf" and using it is called waffing. They're being used at parties where big-deal chefs are hired to create dishes that are then waffed instead of eaten. Waffing is vaping with a straw. But there are all kinds of other forms of the same thing where the mechanism is more like a PV and just not called that. And, yes, whether communal or individual, they're being used to replace/simulate eating calorie-laden foods. I have no doubt that those with an ANTZ's mentality will jump on those when they become aware of them. We'll just have to come up with a new name for those zealots.

I would not recommend anything unresearched as a hobby, however, if you enjoy the hobby of vaping, then it may help you with all your problems. It can be very cathartic and relaxing, as well as just plain interesting to read about, we have a huge community to talk to, and we support each other.

Some +1s for you:
1. DIY Juice making, can help you relax and focus on something unrelated to your daily stresses. This can have the desired affect of helping with anxiety and appetite.
2. Atomizer Rebuilding and Building: The focus and proudness of building something for youself that you can immediately get satisfaction from may help reduce anxiety.
3. Spending tons of money on useless ..... We all do it, and hell yes it reduces anxiety lol. Opening a fresh mod and playing with it for hours on end is always fun.
4. Being part of a community. You will be part of a community that knows hands down what anxiety is and means. We all have it. We all want to deal with it. However we are trying to stop using nicotine to deal with it, so we also are working on other ways to calm ourselves down. Typing out long responses like this one is one of those ways.

Again, I am not advising you healthwise to being vaping, we do it for Harm Reduction purposes. Evalutate yourself what you truly want to do, only you know.

[/QUOTE]if you want a good set up that wont break the bank
1 EGO Twist Battery + charger *OR* Vission Spinner Battery (they are the same thing)
1 EVOD tank "clearomizor" (Kanger Protank if u wanna spend a little more)
+ american made juice.
this set up is very plug and play and reliable and wont break the bank :D
Thank you for the info! Do you think prices online are better than in the shops? or just depends?
Its so overwhelming when I look at accessories/gear. I need to get some more juice tanks (is that what you call them?)..The abbreviations and terminology is killing me. I went with the a smaller EGo and I'm thinking I need a bigger battery and juice chamber already. I had to re-fill it more than i thought, the battery wouldnt stay charged and the pen kept getting really hot and eventually the flavor started tasting slightly Kerosene-esque after a while..mmmm....So I'm assuming I did something wrong or there was a problem with it. I think since I was playing around with it and had it on for a while maybe it just over heated?

Pricing

okay Shops will never be able to beat online prices. its just not possible when your buying online you can buy straight from china there's no way a shop can compete with that. but when buying from a shop and paying a little more you are also 1. not paying for shipping 2. not having to wait for your item in the mail 3. supporting a local vape shop :D always a good thing. But you bet if theres a big price difference im buying online for sure and shops may not have everything you want either most people i think dont even have a shop near them, im not trying to discourage online shopping at all =P just saying after paying for shipping and then waiting for the item if the shop has decent prices it would have been worth it to ger it from the shop lol. Moving on

Terminology

This one gets every new person there's loads of it, but u seem to be focused on Juice Delivery Systems. ill go over the main 3.

Cartomizors/Carto tank: if you have ever takin apart whats inside of a cig-a-like cartage you will see this cotton ball like stuff that holds juice and lets it drip down onto an atomizer. so a cartomizor id that system with a hole or 2 punched in the side then put into the center of a tank so the juice can slowly be fed in to keep that cotton ball material on the inside saturated.

Clearomizors/Glassomizors: clearomizor is plastic, glassomizor is glass. how they work is theres a coil wrapped around a wick and the coil will sit at either the top or the bottom of the tank and juice will be fed to the coil from the tank through the wick.

RBA (rebuildable [dripping] atomizer) : not for the faint of heart these require you to build you own wick and coil to use them but i will explain them just so u have a better grasp on everything. an RBA is simply a wick and coil that you have made yourself and it sits in a dome and you drip a few drops of your juice right into the wick/coil and vape it a few times and then drip some more then vape then drip vape drip vape.

the one i would like to have you set up with is the EVOD which is a clearomizor and the most simplistic while still having a great vape.

as for the battery when u say you got the smaller EGO im thinking u got the 650mah (milli amp hours) which is how battery life is measured. the EGO twist or the Vision Spinner i am recommending to you are 1100mah - 1300mah so they will last 2x as long also you may notice these are more expensive then normal ego batteries that's because the bottom of the battery is actually a dial where you can turn your voltage up and down which is an awesome feature to have and worth every extra penny. It will allow you to adjust your vape, not getting enough vapor or enough taste out of your juice turn up your voltage! if your juice is tasting burnt or hot turn down your voltage! lol.

im just going to repost the things i suggested for you here.

1 EGO Twist Battery + charger *OR* Vission Spinner Battery (they are the same thing)
1 EVOD tank "clearomizor" (Kanger Protank if u wanna spend a little more)
+ american made juice.

If you have ANY questions on any of this stuff ask, seriously i like helping.
even if u want me to go find this stuff at a good price for you and post some links i will haha just ask.

You are are a wealth of knowledge! Thank you so much for telling me all this. Its pretty interesting really. I can see how people develop this as a hobby, not just for vaping but for the gear involved.

Is there a reason mine would be leaking liquid? it gets in the battery and sometimes it spits out of the mouth piece. It does get really hot and I think that's when it starts to do it. I try to be careful not to get any liquid down the center but maybe some did anyway?

The guys at the shop I went to were nice, but very vague and they didnt have a lot of inventory. They are brand new so its just a tiny room in an office building. I didnt know all the right questions to ask and they didnt exactly elaborate on much lol. I may need your help with finding what I need on line, I will let you know! PS. I have Ego Battery 650ma and the CE4 if that means anything.

do you know what brand/model of juice delivery system you have on there? leaking is common with the cheaper made stuff on the market. Leaking onto the battery can cause it to sort circuit and overheat which is very bad (don't worry it wont explode) its just going to overheat and render the battery useless. as far as juice popping and getting little specs of hot juice on your tongue that also can happen more so with the top coil delivery systems. to me this doesn't sound like user error just a substandard delivery system if u could find a name on it or anything it would be of a big help.

Hey there! IMO, as stated above.. if there hasn't been a past history of smoking or nicotine addiction.. then there should be no reason to begin now! But i can honestly say that if, you, as an adult, wanted to enjoy a vape with 0% nicotine and solely for the relaxation or enjoyment.. then there are plenty of people like you and that would be more than willing to keep you on the right track! You have a lot of options regarding flavor and this will ultimately be trial and error in the beginning! Best of luck and stay true to what has kept you away from cigarettes and nicotine in general! ;)

I was in the same boat as you. Im not a cig smoker and never have been. I picked up vaping because I enjoy the tastes and just the general feeling of smoking. No reason to get juice with nicotine in it, all that crap did was give me a headache and make my stomach hurt. I strictly vape 0mg and if the vendor doesnt offer it I send them a message asking if they can supply me with a 0mg version.

If you don't smoke don't vape.

i have come off cigarette smoking for 20 years and gone to vaping. it has helped me feel better and saves me hundreds of dollars but an addiction is still an addiction. why would anyone in this day and age what to go forward with a crutch. i wish i never started but vaping has been a good step off point for me.

As far as weight loss, only nicotine suppresses hunger.the operative word beingsuppress. with out some nicotine i binge like mad, and to start using and addictive drug for weigh loss is a bad idea(anyone remember fen-fen{sp}?).

all in all, IMO don't start. find another hobby that's less intrusive. remember people the long term effects of vaping have yet to be determined. lets not give them any more ammo against it.

As far as the battery problems go, periodically check the contact point between your battery and your tank, dry it thoroughly with a paper towel. Both sides, battery AND tank. It helps to blow out through your carto if you notice it's got juice in the middle, but only when the carto is disconnected from the battery! As far as the taste, if cleaning the contact hasn't helped, see about messing with the voltage. If you don't have a variable voltage battery i would highly recommend one as every juice has a different sweet spot. If you do, fiddle with it until it tastes fantastic!
