This should be interesting, as Mary goes from a 3.7v device that uses the best cartomizer I have ever experienced, down to a 3.2v device with medium resistance attys, and longer battery life. Personally speaking she could have extended battery life with a couple more 4081 batteries, and still had a cig-looking PV.

I am actually planning on using my 4081 cartos on the ego but of course to be fair I will try the ones that come with it to. I have 12 4081 batts but I vape SO much that I am always running them dead :(. I bought the mega batts to try with it so hopefully it won't be that bad.

I see your point there. But over the last year or so, I've really grown tired of carrying anything other than an extra atty in my wallet. I personally like to cut down on stuff needed for an outing. Especially a night out on the town. For instance, my sd mkII and a couple of carto's. Or maybe a small bottle of juice with my xtra atty in my wallet. It is way better imo than the way it used to be with my njoy, or greensmoke kit. But I was a heavy smoker, so this might not be the case for many here on ecf.

Your 4081 cartos are 3.3-3.4 ohms and the eGo atty is 2.5 ohms or lower if it comes with an LR. The 4081 cartos will work, with an adapter, but they will be underwhelming at 3.2v. The 4081 with cartos combo is a magic combination, and work exceptionally well together. The mega battery will last longer, with the same voltage as the "standard" battery.

This should be an interesting comparison, and I do look forward to your feedback!

That is the part I love about my 4081 the carto is awesome on it. I get warm vapor and lots of it, a good TH and oodles of flavor. If the Ego is less than that then I don't know how I am going to ever like it but I am going to give it a fair and honest go. Like I said before if I don't like it I can always give it to my mom ;)................Just wondering how are people getting suck a good TH from the Ego anyway?

1) Lots of folks that are suggesting an eGo have never used a 4081 in good working order with cartos.
2) The eGo has 2.5 ohm attys, so it helps to make up for it.
3) The eGo with 4081 cartos WILL produce a fair amount of vapor... but the flavor will be lackluster at best. The battery life with a 4081 carto on an eGo will be REALLY impressive. The vapor production, good, the flavor... quite poor.

From reading this it looks like my mom might be getting a new pink Ego.

You know if they would just come out with a longer lasting battery for the 4081 I would be a super happy vaper :)

I'm one of the folks that have not tried a 4081. How does it compare to a SB performance wise? I ask because I use a 5v 510 PT and a SB and an Ego all the time and the only one I can taste and feel any difference on is the 5V PT. The difference IMHO with my SB and my Ego are hardly noticeable. Leaving the carto vs. cart vs. atty thing out of the equation.

Now ya see Zen! You already have her giving up on the Ego before she even tried it! The seed has already been planted.
This is where the micro analyzing Techno hobbyist vaporer vs. the plain Jane or Joe smoe wanting a good vape thing comes into play right here.

I was way unimpressed with the stock atty on the ego I just got in (I've only tried one atty in the kit, not both, but I have no reason to believe its malfunctioning). Decent vapor, absolutely, but way to cool a vape for me. I just ordered a couple packs of 2 and 1.8 ohm cartos, to see how those work on it.

This is from the perspective of an 808 user, someone used to 3.7 - 3.8V. The 2 ohm carto on the ego should get me to about equivalent with 3 ohms on an 808, with the 1.8 ohm cartos being similar to 2.6 ohm 808 cartos.

(I bought the ego as a backup, prefer my G400 808 auto batteries, but hope I can get it to an acceptable performance with cartos.)

I only said might ;). I will give the Ego a honest go at it for at least a week before I decide. Everyone has different taste so I might think the flavor is just as good on the Ego as it is on the 4081 because of different taste buds and all that. It is also a possibility that if to me it does seem to lack flavor that I might just keep it and use it for when i''m on the go. All in all I promise I won't let what any one says influence what I think about it the review will come from what I experience only :)

I ordered it about 7pm EST Sunday so hopefully it will ship soon and I will be able to try it out for myself.

I'm growing tired of your myopic view of my opinions. I'm not trying to talk anybody out of anything. I'm sharing information and people are welcome to draw their own conclusions.

I have tried, and owned the very combination she is moving to and from... have you? It seems not. You've already stated your clear and present agenda, stating you feel the eGo is the correct device for most of the folks out there, though I've paraphrased, not quoted.

And you've poked at my anti-ego comments for days now, always with the caveat that you're just pulling my leg or being humorous... I no longer find the comments amusing. I have a genuine interest in helping, and that is not to say you don't, but my advice is backed up with actually having tried the things I am citing, as opposed to your assumptions.

Regarding dry wit... I have it... regarding being prodded and poked by you... You can play with the chain... but don't touch the monkey!

Don't break down now Zen~. Someone will say you're pretty thin skinned - for an alligator. (like the reptile reference as opposed to the monkey...)

I can never find myself to recommend an Ego to someone that wants good vapor and TH without also throwing in a recommendation for some Boge 2 ohm soft tip carto's. I've given out 2 Ego kits in the past week and included a 5 pack of carto's with both. One person gave their cigarettes away on the spot and the other raved on Monday about he only smoked 3 cigarettes all weekend.

Wow, I just took a standard carto off my v3 (I use them @ 6 volts) and tried it on my ego. That sucked. The 2 ohm carto just hits the spot though.

The guys been taking shots in a variety of threads... It's getting old... Especially the "just kidding" deflection. That's cool that he's kidding, and I was amused for a while, but you can only hear the same joke so many times before it's no longer amusing, ya follow?

The point of this thread from the OP resonates with me for one very good reason... I was using 4081s when I purchased my eGo, and the eGo simply did not impress me. I actually found the battery life to be dissapointing... I was told it would last at least a full day... It was dead by noon... Battery two... Dead by 6 pm... You could say six hours is great.. Well... Its a little over twice what I got from the 4081... Is that what we are calling the best product for most people?

It's bad advice is what it is.

You want long life? Get a big battery at 3.7 v, you want a cigalike the 4081 is tough to beat...

The eGo is over hyped and under delivered on the promise to me, and Tavis, suggesting a2.0 carto on an ego without also telling them the battery MAY be compromised by that resistance is ALSO bad advice.

The problem with me offering up common sense advice backed with real experience is that it's frustrating as hell to watch folks ignore and poke at it.

So, you win... Let's talk about the weather.

Rather not talk about the weather - know where you live...

5,000+ views - I don't think the OP or you guys are being ignored. Even Rolygate chimed in...

Just keep taking the high road...
