AFS v2 Tips & Technical Help

Received mine today, was I little frustrated hence new thread :p

My tips.

Give it a good clean prior to use, fresh water and dry.

Look at the picture on the GG site re assembly.

Fill it up to the level of the threads on the main tank when fully assembled, about 4ml.

Put a few drops in the atty (4-6)

give it a go !!!

Adjust via the draw screw (down the bottom) how you like the amount of vape. Holes open equals lots of air and you may lack drawing liquid towards your atty. Closing the ring over the holes may restrict the airy feeling but may make the AFS more auto.

If you get a burnt taste or metallic taste the AFS is not feeding the AFS so close the air ring down the bottom to nearly closed and suck on the mouth piece a bit (without activating the battery). This is not a totally auto system so sucking is needed now and then.

Adjusting the air draw can make is sort of auto when it is going.

I had issues with leaking around the air flow holes at the bottom so cut a hole in the middle of some blue foam and inserted it around that area, all good now.

Took half a day to make mine 100%, don't give up.

I have been using a LR 901 the last few days and it is working quite well actually. And like MWA I have not seen this major leakage issue since removing the top orings.

My Tips after using the AFS for 8 months now.

1. Listen to your taste buds they tell you what is going on with juice flow.
2. If you just can't get the burnt taste to go away with closing control ring, primer puffs etc... REFILL...
3. When you refill keep a paper towel handy, and after you get the top cap back on tight turn the GG upside down and soak up any excess juice (Thanks Rob!!!)
4. If you are getting too much juice flow change the battery... it's probably weak.
5. If you do get leakage from the air holes take the brass part off and wipe it out. (Don't worry you wont spill any juice)
6. Always master the AFS at 3.7v BEFORE you try HV vaping.
7. Some atomizers have a tight draw from the factory (These work best for me in the V2) Some atomizers have a light or airy draw and these do NOT work well for me....
8. If all else fails drill a Cartomizer!! I keep one with me at all times.

Ok...have only had my AFSv2 a few days now..but it's been on steady auto-pilot most of that time. I'm running mine with KR808-D premium cartomizers, drilled out with 1/16" dremel bit about 7-8mm from the bottom of the carto. I peel the vinyl off the carto, clean the glue off with acetone nail polish remover(non-acetone doesn't work) and then wipe it all down very well. Remove both caps inside the carto and I use a delrin drip-tip with my setup because they were already out of stock on the AFSv2 tips. I'll get one when they are back in stock.

Ok..that's my setup...here are my tips:

1) Do a field strip and cleaning of all parts once a day and pay close attention to the threads. If they look dark in the thread grooves..they are starting to tarnish from contact with juice...so use a paper towel and your fingernail to just run it in the threads to dry and clean them. Also make sure to dry your two main o-rings(atty o-ring and top cap o-ring)...that will extend the life of the rubber. Use a metal polishing cloth to buff down the unit once it's dry and clean. Reassemble. This takes maybe 20 minutes if you take your time and are thorough.

2) Don't continue to use the same cartomizer day after day. It will seem to get weak and flood-prone. They need a break, so drill maybe 2-4 of them and rotate them in every day as you reassemble after cleaning.

3) I refill mine in the morning after cleaning and then maybe once or twice more I'll top it off during the day. You may need to refill more often, just to depends on your usage. But to refill easily, you'll need to make a simple cartomizer plug to prevent flooding when you "unseal" the barrel to refill. Think of it like maintaining the air bubble in an old diving bell. If you don't do this to maintain the air bubble inside the cartomizer..as you refill the cartomizer will try to flood as it equalizes the juice level inside the tank.

a) Take an old 510 or 901 cart cap and plug the airholes. You can use a kleenex, analog cig filter, bubble gum, putty, anything to plug the hole and prevent air just bubbling through the cartomizer.

b) Remove your drip tip(or other tip) and place the carto plug on the carto.

c) Close the bottom control ring (CR).

d) Now remove the top caps and o-ring, being careful not to let the carto plug come out as you do this. Just slide them over the top. Refill your juice...wipe down caps and o-ring and replace them.

e) Once they are tight you can remove the carto plug and replace your drip tip. Open your control ring and you're back in business again.

This procedure has me running without a hitch all day..everyday. There is nothing else currently on the market that even holds a candle to this kind of e-cig performance. This is even easier than packin' a pack of analogs and removing the wrapper! ENJOY!!

Probably wouldn't seal properly (might if wet). Personally I just empty, change flavours and get it going again without plugging anything.

Edit, actually mine does flood a bit and I get a drop or two around the air intakes. Put it aside standing up and the flooding goes but I might look at getting a round rubber (eraser) to seal the atty while changing.

Thx Emonty...:)

I'm probably just being OCD cleaning my daily..but I want it to stay nice and shiny for a bit...LOL! Plus I prefer to swap fresh cartomizers daily..so it's no biggie to do a quick clean while I'm at it. I clean my guns every time I get home from the range too though..just the way I am.

Condom caps will NOT work because the top o-ring won't slide past it. It may not be necessary to plug it for all cartomizers..but since they all seem to vary on the amount of stuffing..I think that's where some might have a tendency to flood. I'm just plugging mine to make sure I don't have the issue..which I did have a flood after the first refill on my first cartomizer I ran in the AFS. The plug is insurance if nothing else...cause it IS a pain to fill it up..just to find it's flooded and then field strip it get the carto and blow it out...and then set it up again.

My basic tips have insured non-stop performance, so much so..that I'm gaining sufficient confidence in the system to just walk out the door with the AFSv2/BSB setup and nothing else...it just works that well. Most I would take with me anyway would be juice, eyedropper to remove juice(fits in my kit), spare cartomizer, spare battery. But I've hauled my kit around for 2 days now..and not even touched it and been out most of the day.

Why don't you just turn the GG upside down and put a paper towel down inside the tube of the carto if you get flooding when filling up? There is no need to break the whole thing down and blow out the carto. You just like taking things apart don't you wolf?

It is that day that I leave the house without back up that the thing just stops working. It happens to me every time so no matter what I always have spare atty, battery, and most of the time I have a back up device on hand.

And yes, I know there are differences in the filler materials inside the cartomizer. I think they wrap that filler material around the tube tighter on some than others and this is the cause of the poor flow and/or flooding on some. That seems to be the problem with any auto feed system, inconsistently manufactured atomizers. They all reach us either with super light draw or a stiff draw and this greatly affects the performance of the juice feed system. I really feel that we need some way of manually dripping on the atty like a pump or means of dripping on the bridge of the atty. When we are trying to pull juice into the atty from the bottom it is just not made to work that way. Air is supposed to be passing into the atty from the bottom and juice is supposed to be entering the atomizer system from the top. I really think the laser hole system is the best system both for user control-ability and flavor of the juice. When we are pulling juice in from the bottom it has to pass through all that used or partially burnt juice which in turn affects the flavor. I know it should matter and juice is juice but I have noticed differences in the taste when using my laser hole AFS system right next to the new bottom feeding style AFS. Does anyone else notice this difference in taste between the two styles of juice feeders?

Only one thing Wolf. if we want to keep o-rings in their best condition we have to put a drop of oil around them every week so they will not get dry.

I was an Aircraft Fitter on fast jets for 15 years and used Petroleum Jelly (Vaseline) when intstalling o-rings. I have been doing the same on my AFS and center pin with no problems, it helps them to seat properly so less chance of them leaking. Daz

great tip Daz: cheap and available everywhere!!! :toast:
