nearly 60 days without a cigarette.
i dipped my toes in the vaping liquid with an istick pico (then bought another as a backup) and it's done me proud with few mishaps. now...
a smok alien is inbound! excited? yup.
comes with the V8 baby tank (like the look of the filling mechanism) but my eleaf 4ml and 2ml tanks fit it too.
firmware downloaded and awaiting install.
will update once it's been used in anger.

Enjoy it! It will anything up to 25 mm so lots of tank options. The BB is a nice tank, although on the small side. Filling is easy and the coils are actually quite nice after priming and gradually breaking them in. A bit of cotton taste for the first ~half tank, then gone, along with decent coil life.

I settled on the Q2 o.4 ohm coil at 40W as my default with that tank. Good performance, battery life, and juice consumption are all in a nice balance. I tried the lower ohm, multiple wire ones, which were nice, but I'm not that into clouds, and they need significant power and juice consumption goes way up with all those clouds.

using 0.5 coils at 38W (i've no idea why i didn't just set it to 40W!) with my picos and find that's a good balance with the right amount of cloud action...for me at least. will start at the same with the alien and see how it goes.
i do have 4 18650s but like to keep power consumption at reasonable levels.

i will of course update. i do enjoy a new gadget! giving one of the picos to a mate but keeping one as i always have a backup to everything.

The latest update fixes the TC mode issues. You definitely want to update to V1.3.2. The Alien is a nice size for pocket carry. It's one of the few dual battery mods that isn't so fat.

I can easily tell you the firmware upgrade aren't necessary on the smok's alien, most likely it's a tiny patch for tcr functions or something (dosen't hurt to do them either). I've got the big baby tank and tbh it's a love hate relationship, i hated well still do hate factory coils for em since they didn't last long for me, but i moved to the rba based and have been using it ever since (even have coils for my other tank as backup) fill method is indeed nice until you get a dripper bottle those barely fit and make a mess around the thing. Overall still a nice thing to use and kinda hilarious to me since you're using yours on an alien mod :p mine's on a predator 228 mod ahah !!

Alien vs Predator anyone
Grats on your 60 days also :)

The Alien 220W's TC mode was trash at V1.2.1. It's fixed in V1.3.2 firmware. It's a must if you vape TC mode, but they didn't fix the 15W minimum in TC mode and that heats up the TC vape for those of us who are 10W MTL vapers. Wattage mode works fine in V1.2.1 or V1.3.2.

got 2 4ml tanks but getting a larger TFV8 is on the cards...2ml is rather limiting.
alien vs predator...genius! :p keep meaning to look into RBA but never seem to have the time.
will upgrade the firmware right away even though i've never tried TC mode.
thanks all. good that feedback has been on the positive side. hopefully picking it up tonight and will update once i've tried it. enjoying orange lucozade liquid at the moment :smokie:

I Hope you love your alien as much as I love mine! 9 months old and still rocking!

I picked mine up early last night and the battery display was at 3/4. Vaped until bedtime and picked it up this morning a couple of hours ago. 2 1/2 hours later it's still at half battery level. Battery life on the Alien is really great. I can usually depend on getting two full days on two freshly charged 30Q's.

Remember the Alien has a lower voltage cutoff than most mods, so you can draw the battery down more. The issue is then calculating the actual amp draw at that lower cutoff, and decreasing your safety margin if you're playing with high wattage
oh, and 60 days...woohoo!

60 Days! A big congrats!:toast:

afraid you lost me at lower voltage cutoff. will be interesting having a fiddle with it. will start at my usual 40W and take it from there.
and thank you...realise 60 isn't a huge amount but every day is its own milestone.
