What should I do to stop glowing?

if you have adjustable voltage lower the voltage, otherwise use longer kanthal for more resistance/less current, another wrap around the wick. what resistance and voltage are you working with now? Is it evenly touching the wick or are you getting hot spots that are glowing and some that aren't? You might get glowing where it's not touching the wick, but you should have no glowing at the wick. Glowing is WAY hot, and you will be burning the juice not vaporizing.

 Raidy is much more than that!

He is the Einstein of attys...

He is the Von Braun of PVs...

He is the... Hedy Lamarr of Modders!!!

(bet you didn't expect THAT one!!!)

 But seriously...

Check it out... Without Hedy Lamarr and her partner George Antheil, we wouldn't
have the internet, cellphones or pagers. (spread spectrum, aka frequency hopping)

Hedy Lamarr - Inventor of Frequency Hopping

So Raidy, in my opinion, you qualify as an equal of some of the most inventive people of the last 100 years. :headbang:

Raidy, with all due respect... Your profile says you are a "developer". In my opinion you are much more. You should change that to "inventor". Much like Isaac newton.

Your work is amazing.

Here is my first attempt prototype. Looks rough but puts out the vapor.

Raidy, do you use epoxy on any of your parts? I used some and it has this funny taste, kind of harsh. I wasn't sure whether it was the SS mesh or the epoxy in the tank. Thoughts?

Did you let the epoxy completely cure? A few days at least.

Even so I've experimented with various adhesives. Epoxy (even JBWeld) no matter how hard it seems when cured, when it comes into contact with e-liquid will in fact eventually lose it's bond and also start to soften.

this funny taste, kind of harsh.
When you say harsh, is that like extreme TH? What mesh number are you using?

Raidy, I have very much enjoyed this thread. What an inventive mind and what wonderful things you have made! I will be in Ulm on the 4th of December and have a day trip to Stuttgart planned for the Porsche Museum on the 5th. Then I will go back to Ulm, business, for a couple of days, over to Trier, more business, and on to Nuremberg. That is for business and some Christmas shopping and then to Frankfort to fly home on the 10th. If you are back in Stuttgart by December 5th I would like to invite you to dinner. I will bring a pound of Dunkin Donuts coffee, some of my favorite e-juice and a spy camera. If you have a favorite bit of americana, like beef jerky, I am happy to bring it along. Please let me know what you think and I will PM you my contact info.

About me - I am an engineer by education and trade. My speciality has become transition to production. I started out working medical devices and, in the last ten years, other things for a much larger company. I have a through background in machining, printed wiring boards, circuit card assemblies, project management and still get goose bumps when my dad gives me a ride in his 2.7 carrera engineed '74 911 but I still dream about the '69 912 under a tarp in his garage. My 944 turbo is fun but I grew up in the back seat of that 912. I can still remember sitting in the back and the warmth and sound of the engine coming through the floor and back of the seat with the windows down on a summer night.

I am rambling but the point is I see the work and artistry in what you have created and would like to meet you and see some of your creations.

Respectfully,
Mark K.

You can use epoxy, BUT:
1) Not every epoxy. Use only the very clear one, necer the yellow like one.
2) After dry (min. 4 hours) wash it out with hot water)
3) Mix ist exactly 50:50 and not 45:55

Best to dry for a day.
:)

Germans never drink beer ICE cold. But more!

I am so glad to hear that. I never drink beer ice cold... and my friends look at me funny. LOL in my mind, if you need to make it ice cold to drink it... it is not very good. Because you cannot taste everything when it is ice cold. So, making it ice cold is just a marketing thing used to sell bad beer.

Sorry for the derail, just felt like i had to say that!

Aside from the Kanthal wire and Mesh screen, are there any other "must have" supplies that are uncommon (not at the local Radio Shack, etc)?

I know it is listed somewhere within these 66 pages, but has anyone located the best deals on the wire and screen (in the US) yet?

THANKS - can't WAIT to try this - HAVE A GOOD VACATION RAIDY, we look forward to your return and PART II!

there are no best deals on mesh that have been found yet, the germans and UK both have great sites with reasonable prices whilst we take it in the pooper. there's amazon(which resells smallparts.com), mcmaster carr and hoping to find some on fleabay. The only reasonable price is The Mesh Company: Online Shop for Woven, Knitted and Perforated Mesh for Art, Craft, Floristry, Modelling and Engineering in the UK, but it's $20 for shipping. If you are buying larger quantities it makes sense, but ouchies for shipping. When I decide which mesh I like I'll probably make an order there.
