I got Simplicity a few days ago and so happy with build quality and performance but I just have this big worry in my head and cannot solve.
There is a hidden vent holes on bottom of tube and have slits with switch. I get it but since vent holes are under o-ring, battery will prevent air path from top upper area. I believe IMR battery has proof valve on top so gas will try to escape from positive side in case goes wrong. Since top cap has no air path so positive area will be almost complete sealed chamber to be explode.
Venting will work if I tried to blow from the top of the tube without battery but it won't if I have battery in. If I insert my battery positive down then I can blow air from the bottom because battery nipple will raise battery it self to keep the air way. however there is a space between top cap and battery so I can feel battery rattle inside.
Am I crazy? Can anyone confirm there is no air venting above o-ring?
Also, hidden gas vent will not work if you lock the brass ring...
The Oring is made of low melt point Buna, operating range up to 250F. batteries vent in excess of +1000F and at 5,000+PSI in an enclosed tube, it'll instantly blow through the oring like it doesn't even exist. Your breath or a ballon is about 10psi and 80F , so it can't be tested that way. If you wanted you could cut a small section out of the oring. Also, there is adequate battery to wall clearance for escaping gases from the top to travel to the bottom.
